Your (Rodgers) insistance to play constantly out from the back every time doesn't help either, Chelsea just play high line to combat it and you have lost the ball so many times because of it.

Can hardly play it long though with Chelsea's height

Losing the ball in own half or losing the ball higher up the field, makes little difference really. Plus Balotelli isn't exactly a small bloke.

No but as you saw in the last mins when Liverpool tried to go long to Lambert there was times when they may win the first ball but Chelsea just smothered the second ball

If you haven't noticed, that's one of the biggest strengths of this Chelsea side. They challenge you when you try and play it out from the back and you're not winning many long balls vs Terry, Cahill, Matic, Ivanovic...

guys for real stop complaining and concentrating on specific players. The whole team is playing awful, don't fool yourself that is one's player fault. I myself do not see anyone having the confidence that we can actually win something from any game...I dont see anything going well on the wings, I do not see any realistic organisation from the midfielders, i do not see our attackers scoring, i see our defenders getting humiliated and seeing mignolet trowing the ball corner on the last minute.... Rodgers has to change completely his approach, we are no longer that quick team last year teams were afraid of... it's sad but it's true :/

with 120 million to spend we should have replacing him

I agree to an extent, but you went for quantity rather than quality. Not sure who you could have got in realistically either, Sanchez chose Arsenal and my mind has just gone blank on players who were available this summer. The only other one I personally think you should have got if the release clause rumour is true is Bony.

We 'could' have spent better, i agree with that.

However, we are still not able to compete with the big teams in terms of wages and fee's which means the top players dont come to Liverpool because at the end of the day money is the main factor for most. We have signed decent players with very good potential but when you lose Suarez to Barca and Sturridge to injury the whole side will suffer

Its worrying, but not a crisis like some are making out. Compare our performances to our main rivals for the top four and they are very similar, we just have to improve for the second half of the season

I think once Sturridge is back you will be a totally different proposition, you can never really replace Suarez one of the few players in the world IMO who is close to Messi and Ronaldo. Think Sanchez would have been a really nice fit for you guys too shame it never worked out and he went to the gooners

Constantly losing the ball in your own half where the defence is immediately vulnerable is no better than losing the ball further up the field, at least the midfield won't be bypassed with one mistake.

Exactly: neither situation is good, and they both have their own disadvantages. Which is why you arbitrarily deciding that it's "better to lose it long than short" makes no sense.

So Liverpool go route one and abandon everything about their style and constantly give the ball back to Chelsea, How do Liverpool mount an attack without the ball because Chelsea either win the long ball or the second ball?

I'm talking about from goal kicks, not every-time you have it in your own half from normal open play.

Are you really saying that Liverpool should have been playing reactive football, even though their poor defensive shape has been a huge weakness so far this season? You want to play like that vs an inform Hazard and Costa?

TBF you said "play out from the back every time" but whatever cba to go back and forth over this @Subtle last post is right so enjoy soccer saturday ;)

The simple fact is they lost the ball a lot of the times in their own half anyway, through playing out from the back. Giving Hazard and Costa's runs at the defence (through a bypassed midfield due to 1 error). If you didn't play out from the back it would not give them the opportunity to bypass the midfield with 1 error and Hazard/Costa/Oscar wouldn't of got the direct runs at the defence like they had from mistakes Liverpool consistently made from trying to build play from the back every time.

And instead you would have given Chelsea the chance to hold the ball deep and make the most out of Fabregas. There isn't an easy answer to the problem, which is why sides have struggled vs us so much.

The best solution would probably have been to clear it long then press relentlessly but the game didn't progress in a way that made that easy. Lpool blitzed us early, as lots of sides have done, so by the time we came into the game (and got far enough up the pitch to make our forward press come into play) they didn't have the energy to pressure our backline and pivot.
