What do people think about the Vietto links?

I think he's one of the best realistic signings that we could make.

I think I'd prefer Lacazette, but I wouldn't be sad if we end up with Vietto. I think there's a higher chance of success with him than with Benteke. But those rumours came from AS, and Liverpool Echo didn't seem to think there was much truth in them.

Yeah Lacazette would be the one in a perfect world, but Vietto is more realistic. It would be a shame if we spent 32m on Benteke when we could get a more suitable striker in Vietto for less than half the price

Technique wise, fantastic prospect.

But what what worries me is his size to play, and more importantly, last, in England. 5'8 tall, he's listed around the 10/11 stone mark. And given his slight frame, he doesn't look like his body could add much. He reminds me of another Argentinian I loved at Valencia, and later Benfica among others, Aimar. Ripped L'pool to shreds in Europe and there was a lot of hype over him coming. But as much as I loved watching him, he was the very last player I'd of considered bringing into the English game. He'd of been kicked to all heck and he didn't have the body to withstand that. I get that impression with Vietto.

That said, he fits FSG's identikit transfer profile perfectly. Young, under 24 prospect who can be had cheap and (hopefully) developed.

So I wouldn't at all be surprised to see it happen.

Most likely, especially if the Griezmann to Chelsea links turn out to be on the money
Just as I say lol.

Transfer Central TNC @TransferNewsCen Atletico Madrid have activated Villarreal striker Luciano Vietto’s €20million buyout clause. (AS) and other sources.

Ballague even said they had an agreement a few weeks ago with the player on Revista

Klopp taking a break just seen on bbc sports.

*Sighs. My only hope is we've asked him to take a break until Christmas.

First Ancelotti. Now Klopp. Seriously, just HOW have we managed to **** this up so spectacularly?

I'm just about through with FSG too at this point.

Maybe he having a break cause Brendan got till jan and if no good then see ya

FSG haven't yet met with Brendan so how are they messing it up?

These managers clearly have their eyes on taking a break regardless of what job comes up.

do you honestly think we are actually in a position to actually attract either of them?

You're selling us short if you don't think we could of. At the least in Klopp's case.

Ancelotti was always the longer shot. I have little doubt, being the way he's spoken about the club unprompted in the past (this time last year when he spoke in such reverence about the chance to join Paisley as an all time great being the latest example); that had the situation been better, he'd of loved to of had the opportunity to both work at LFC and have the chance to be the man to finally bring it home. But it's not an ideal situation and as soon as Milan came calling, the lure of returning back to his true love was always going to be a hard obstacle to overcome.

Klopp on the other hand, again, just a personal feeling, I'd have little doubt would be more than happy to manage L'pool. Aside from all he's said on the club, and all that's been coming out from Germany the past week or so; people really do underestimate just what weight the name still carries on the Continent. Particularly to those of a certain age like the two at hand. We may be in a complete mess and in need of a complete rebuild on the face of it, a LONG way off the top spot.

But the lure and reverence of Liverpool Football Club still holds in a lot of cases.

Why Boston feel their man is worth sticking with you'd have to ask them.

I get what you mean but the only thing stoping fsg is rodgers and his coaches severance packages. He is on a long term contract. He holds all the cards.

If it's as bad come Christmas as many of us fear it may well be, it'll be interesting to see if they then swallow the money and admit their mistake.

I just pray if it gets to that point someone of the calibre of Klopp is still out there.

i doubt it, if klopp does come in it will have to be now. he can have his own pre season, own players he wants to target etc... i feel if we wait that long we wont have any viable manager options midway through the season. next season we might not even be able to target klopp as it might be wengers last, and it would not surprise me if klopp took over the mantle.

I dont think it is going to be as bad as some make out.. Without doubt we struggled this year in periods and the other teams will strengthen this summer but it will depend on our transfer activity as well

I am very confident in saying a fit Sturridge and we would have come fourth this season and everything would be rosy right now.. that was in part bad luck and bad recruitment but if we get it at least half right this summer we may surprise a few
