Rodgers said if the owners want him to go he'll go. I suppose though that was heat of the moment stuff and he has since had 'positive' talks with Werner. He'd maybe be more against resigning now.

Can't see Alonso's name without saying '****ING RAFA!'

I loved Rafa, but I still never understood that one... He was the one that brought the likes of Reina, Alonso, Garcia and Torres to the club. I'm not sure why he would let any of them leave!

When he tried his damnedest to replace Xabi with Gareth frigging Barry the year prior it was little wonder Alonso went home.

If Benitez hadn't tried pulling that **** I have little doubt he'd still be wearing red.

Who in their right freaking mind rates Gareth Barry above one of the best passers of a ball in the World the last 10 years?

Was having this conversation Saturday via text .....

Best passer of a ball in World football the last 10 years. Xabi or Xavi?

Man that's a hard one to answer and we couldn't separate them. Just noted how exceptionally lucky Spain have been.

In b4 United fans reply Paul Scholes lol

Vlaar and Richards released,

Now I'm not saying they would be great starters, but I think Richards could be a decent signing, but he's pretty much a more experienced Wisdom....

What's everyones take on Vlaar?

I think he may have just had that good world cup...

Vlaar is a good player for lower teams really, not the greatest at anything in particular.

Richards I've always rated, I'd take him as a rotation option at AC Milan but seems he really wants to be guaranteed first choice at whichever club he goes to, which is fair enough after his last few seasons.

I think Mancini is a fan and he manages Inter though....

On Richards, his knees would have to thoroughly check out over both the short and long term. But if they did, I'd happily add him. Always thought he was far better suited to be a ball playing centre half. (Like Wisdom's more natural position. Take note BR!). Talent wise, he's still one of the best English defenders. It's just the nagging injury concerns ....

And I couldn't agree more on Vlaar. Very average defender. When are people gonna' realise having a good WC more often than not means jack in reality to how good or not a player actually is. Someone mentioned the same as regards Origi. Easy to showcase yourself looking for a big European move over 3 or 4 games in the summer. Lost count of the number of players that did that. ****, we had two very costly ones through that in recent memory. Phil Babb had one great game against Italy in '94 and suddenly we jumped into a bidding war with 'Spurs and well over payed for absolute garbage. And then again the Asia WC when Diouf had a great opening game against the French. Houlier blundered in with a ridiculous £10 million or so, and then compounded it with the equally woeful Diao at another 5 mil. to keep his mate happy!

Performances in WC finals are a real weak indicator of a players truth worth the majority of the time.

didnt houlier decide to keep diouf instead of anelka. ffs, houlier made some daft decisions how could he let go robbie fowler for one. he is imo the greatest striker we have had at this club. he had no weaknesses to his game.

Suarez, I think he was the best player ever to wear a Liverpool top. Shame he never wanted to stay for good :(

Almost. He **** all over Anelka was what he did.

Ankle was promised a contract if he helped get us into the Champions League. Which he did. Perfect pro through his loan and openly said he'd never felt as settled and loved as at Anfield. Then Houllier pulled the deal and bought frigging Diouf.

I think the problem with Robbie was Gerrard didn't like anyone being bigger than he was at the club and he knew with the fans there was only one winner there so he was looking for any excuse to get rid of him. When the B/S with Thompson erupted in training, he pounced. Never forgive the pair of them for that. Fowler should of been a one club man his whole career. Leaving Liverpool totally killed him and he never had any real enthusiasm until he came back.

'Greatest' striker we've ever had? Love Robbie but that would have to be Rushie for me for his all round game and his ridiculous output of goals. But I've never seen a more natural finisher than Fowler. Man, everything he hit seemed to go between the posts. Him and McManaman single handedly carried the club for much of the 90's. (Someone else who would of been a one club career man if Evans hadn't agreed a deal with Barcelona for Macca the year before he left on the Bosman. People have short memory's on that when they slam McManaman.).

never saw fowler in his true prime but everyone tells me he was every bit as good as suarez. but suarez man he was a machine last season, when he got the ball i literally knew he was going to do something useful with it.
