Almost. He **** all over Anelka was what he did.

Ankle was promised a contract if he helped get us into the Champions League. Which he did. Perfect pro through his loan and openly said he'd never felt as settled and loved as at Anfield. Then Houllier pulled the deal and bought frigging Diouf.

I think the problem with Robbie was Gerrard didn't like anyone being bigger than he was at the club and he knew with the fans there was only one winner there so he was looking for any excuse to get rid of him. When the B/S with Thompson erupted in training, he pounced. Never forgive the pair of them for that. Fowler should of been a one club man his whole career. Leaving Liverpool totally killed him and he never had any real enthusiasm until he came back.

'Greatest' striker we've ever had? Love Robbie but that would have to be Rushie for me for his all round game and his ridiculous output of goals. But I've never seen a more natural finisher than Fowler. Man, everything he hit seemed to go between the posts. Him and McManaman single handedly carried the club for much of the 90's. (Someone else who would of been a one club career man if Evans hadn't agreed a deal with Barcelona for Macca the year before he left on the Bosman. People have short memory's on that when they slam McManaman.).
you look at robbie's record in only his second full season he got 30 goals. imagine the creaming the english media would have done if someone did that today. i mean i read their new saviour ross barkely has less then 10 assists in more than 90 games.

Suarez, I think he was the best player ever to wear a Liverpool top. Shame he never wanted to stay for good :(

All personal opinion but for me, it would have to be Kenny # 1 for all he means to the club and City. Nobody has the connection that Dalglish does. Gerrard included.

But even above Dalglish, the most naturally gifted player I've ever seen in red is Johnny Barnes. Some of the older guys would say Billy Liddel but I never saw him so can't really say. But Barnes I can. He was my era. He was like a ballerina who just floated about the pitch, gliding past 3 or 4 players with ease. And he was a big, stocky fella' that made it even more ridiculous. For this first 2 or 3 years he was the best player in the World for me. Right up there if not better than the Maradona's and Gullit's. It was give it Barnes. He'll either beat 5 men and put it on a plate for Aldo. Or he'll beat 5 men and score himself. Poise. Balance. Technique. Two footed. Great in the air. Ridiculous goals output for a winger. Absolute wizard of the dribble and set piece master. He had it all. And he was equally as good when his legs went and he moved into the middle and completely run games from there with his intelligence and range of passing.

I'll stop as I could gush about Barnes all night long lol.

My one major regret through the ban is we never got to see Barnes and co in Europe. Kenny's great '88 side against the three Dutchmen of Sacchi's Milan would of been a purists wet dream. No doubt in my mind we'd be sat on 7 or 8 European Cups if that side had been playing in Europe.

hahaha, you and my dad could talk all night long. he loved digger.

Jordon Ibe is using his vacation on the training field with Inglethorpe and Dalglish to practice finishing.

Nah, Stiven Gerrard ***** on all of them.

Trying to be serious for a minute I personally don't rate him as our best ever midfielder. Steven's been a phenomenal all round talent and will unquestionably go down as the most influential player for his club side to never win their domestic championship; but Souness is still a cut above him for me and the best leader/ captain outside of Hughes we've ever had. A lot of the plaudits the end of last year for Steven went well OTT. But that's the age we live in I guess.

Now a central midfield of Souness and Gerrard ..... NOW you're talking. NOTHING would get through that.

What Steven's done for Liverpool nobody in Liverpool's history could have done in my opinion... I found it unbelievable how in nearly every moment Liverpool needed inspiration or a goal he would be the one to provide it

In a weaker side to that of the majority of his rivals personnel wise, Gerrard has been nothing short of phenomenal

True that, he definitely carried your team through some tough spots, but it seems to me that he wasn't able to inspire his team through the season (a major part of that may have been personnel, mind you..). But many also argue that a lot of Gerrard's deficiencies were masked when you had Xabi Alonso sitting behind him. Gerrard was always more suited to the attacking game, and when he was called upon to be the defensive leader, he just tapered down a bit.

Definitely one of the most influential midfielders you've had (he was Liverpool, so I utterly hate him, mind =P), but probably not the most complete midfielder you've had. Had Gerrard been pushed ahead in the hole, and a proper defensive midfielder been bought, he'd probably have had a greater influence on the game.

Still dislike the farce made on his retirement, mind you. I don't mind the fans, but entire ****** channels were dedicated to Gerrard throughout, which was quite ridiculous to do for any player :\ But really, Liverpool would probably have benefited a lot more if he was still kept around, mainly for the superstar name and his presence in the dressing room.

I agree... I fully believe had Gerrard moved to a club with better players around him he would have proven to be one of the greatest players. The ability was always there but the trophy cabinet and the regular big game appearances sadly wasn't.. (Even though he won a fair few things still!)

In a playing capacity it was best for Gerrard to leave in my opinion, but in every other way he would have been great to have around. However, it seemed Gerrard didn't want to stay to only be a bit-part player

Not doubting Gerrard's ability but it's not as simple, moving to bigger club or playing with better players means winning more or taking his game to next level. At Liverpool everything went through him, same won't be the case at bigger clubs with better players.

Not saying Gerrard wouldn't have stepped up or won many trophies but it's not as clear cut as it made out. Even if he moved to Chelsea then who knows, Chelsea would have suffered like England with Lampard and Gerrard in the same team.

Of course... If it was that simple every good player would move to the next level

Just having watched Gerrard regularly for 10 odd years I would have no doubt him moving to any side in world football, in his prime, and still being one of the better players in the team

At Liverpool he was the main man and always had the ball, for example imaging lining up for Madrid with all the players like Zidane, Figo, Beckham, Ronaldo who all were focal points of their teams before moving to Madrid but at Madrid it was Zidane. So we don't know how Gerrard would have performed if he was not the main man.

Saying that I would say Gerrard had fantastic career with only league title missing. So I disagree with media and many who said he should have done better.

Completely agree... from a Liverpool point of view I am glad he didn't leave but it would have been fantastic seeing him as a Galactico

He did have a fantastic career, could have won trophies more regularly but he won almost all there was to win as a player.. Hardly a career in which he should have done better

Montoya would be a good alternative to Clyne.. I think our reluctance to pay 15mil shows what a limited budget we have to work with

Would like Montoya!

Kovacic is apparently closer...

Im unsure on Kovacic... Would love him but every bit of news is coming outside of England, hardly any English press are reporting it and the Echo is adamant we have not spoke to Inter

All seems a bit Gaston Ramirez to Liverpool-esque

I like kovacic but if we sign him it seems to be following the general trend of LFC signings. Another player we don't need. I swear if we sign kovacic and that means the end of Lucas I will be one mad bunny. Lucas should be the first name on team sheet.
