I admire your optimism... (Or delusion!)

I never said that England were the best national team around. I aknowledge that there are huge problems within the national team and I, myself have no real expectations for international tournaments after the disappointments of 2010 and 2014. When your definition of failure is failing to make the last 16 of an international tournament, you are a top international side. The international side is full of experienced players at the highest level.

The reason that the England team get so much slack is that the national team are under performing. More often than not, England top their qualifying group and make the last 16 of major tournaments, making them a top 10 international side. Most players play in the premier league and champions league, at the highest level.

We only top our groups because we play teams that we should be beating. Put England in a group with top teams (Germany, Holland, Italy etc) and we'd get spanked! Yes, England on paper are probably a top ten international side, but just because they have supposed 'top players' it doesn't make them a top international side and they certainly don't play like one.

England are a second rate National team.

One WC, on home soil. 49 years ago. With only one other semi final appearance. Through THIRTEEN finals tournaments.

And they've only ONCE been past the quarter finals of the European Nations Cup (again, on HOME SOIL) through seven finals tournaments. And never to the final.

The English WOMAMN'S team has just rounded off the second best EVER WC placing, men or woman, for England.

And yet again, England will doubtless be home before the quarter finals from another major this time next summer.

If you honestly attest that England are a major International side then your delusions are off the charts. Even the majority of England fans have stopped over hyping themselves as they know they aren't this top footballing Nation that the media still try's to make them out to be.

Or you can refer to the absolutely meaningless FIFA rankings and try spin it otherwise.

Agree, but according to those "FIFA Rankings" though, England are only just in the top 10 (9th), and are only just the best Home Nation team (Wales 10th), and I feel that England are slightly better than Wales TBH, but I'm gonna make a bold prediction now:

Wales to get further in the Euros (If they get there) than England.

God, lol, could you imagine the complete media meltdown if that (quite possibly) happens?

It would be insufferable.

Fabio Borini apparently rejects Lazio... This lad is becoming very frustrating.

Turns down a 14million move to Sunderland and now a move to Champions League side Lazio despite moaning about a lack of chances at Anfield

Move on lad.

I think your definition of "top international side" is the same as "world class striker." You clearly have different opinion. I think top sides are maybe 5, you think top side is anyone who gets to last 16. Mexico was in the last 16 since 1994. Do you think they're top side?

I'd love to know just what wages we've got the clown on.

Seriously. Guaranteed football at football at Sunderland isn't good enough for him. QPR offer him the same and publicly say the offered him £80 K a week (which beggared belief) and THAT wasn't good enough for him. Now this is being reported as collapsing over his wage demands.

Just HOW big a contract is he on FFS?

Rodgers first signing so SURELY this is his last year?

Please tell me he didn't get a Rafa special 5 year deal and we've 2 more years to go before we can dump his stubborn ***?

He's just sticking by what he agreed with the club as per his contract. Isn't that what everyone's mad at Sterling for not doing? ;)

The Guardian: City have no plans to improve their £40m (£35m+£5m) offer for Sterling, who has told Rodgers he doesn't want to play for him.

Thought this would happen. Not ideal for both parties. As soon as City got a wince that De Bruyne was for sale it was bye bye Sterling. He will just leave when his contracts out.

Not ideal, but not particularly bad for Liverpool... Sterling may continue to play and concentrate on his football before leaving in two years time. Then the tribunal fee would still give Liverpool upwards to , if not more than 20million

I still expect City to come in with an offer towards 50mil and Sterling to leave

True but I cant see City bidding now. They will get De Bruyne.
