True but I cant see City bidding now. They will get De Bruyne.

Would be a great signing - But doesn't help them with the English quota they need to fill. But i suppose Delph and another poor english player aka. Richard Wright will soon solve that

Thought this would happen. Not ideal for both parties. As soon as City got a wince that De Bruyne was for sale it was bye bye Sterling. He will just leave when his contracts out.

Not ideal, but not particularly bad for Liverpool... Sterling may continue to play and concentrate on his football before leaving in two years time. Then the tribunal fee would still give Liverpool upwards to , if not more than 20million

I still expect City to come in with an offer towards 50mil and Sterling to leave

Not ideal? He's made his position at the club as good as untenable.

There is NO way back from this. You don't come out and attack the manager, after all the other **** you've pulled, and expect there to be any chance of a working relationship. Aside from the fact he'd be abused to **** at every ground next season (which will doubtless be the case regardless of who he's playing for); he'll be (justifiably) abused to **** from his own fans!

That would be the single worst possible scenario to have him at the club next season and would in all probability have a devastatingly detrimental effect on everyone.

Really? I think you've massively cocked it up. You should have tied up his contract when you were riding high and in the season after you sold your biggest star. After that you make these thinly veiled, passive aggressive comments in the press to try and pressure him into signing, and he doesn't want to budge. So rather than either accepting than he wants more money or letting him go for a decent fee, you get involved in a very public spat and considerably weaken your position. Then, to top it all off, you refuse City's offer and ask for some absurd fee instead, completely misreading the balance of power. It's City, not you, who have the leverage in this situation. Why on Earth are they going to meet your valuation when you'd be stuck with a divisive voice in the dressing room who will be unpopular with fans and won't want to give his all? By deterring interest in him so ferociously you've even ensured that there's no one bidding against them to raise the price.

A masterclass in how not to handle deal with young talent really.

City are still desperate for home grown players and they aren't walking away from this one. And there's next to NO way we let his contract run down.

City will not pay 100m for De Bruyne and Sterling. De Bruyne is the easier deal as the club are willing to let him go and he is keen on the move. Add to that he is a lot better player than Sterling. Also City will most likely to negotiate the price down a bit Liverpool wont be so flexible. Can see you easily stuck with Sterling and City walking away.

It was never a question of money. (Well, not Liverpool money.). He's wanted out for for a long time. Firstly under the pretence he wanted out of the North West completely.

No argument that the club have handled the City situation poorly by gambling when we got a ridiculously OTT offer to start with, but Sterling was never for re-signing from well over a year back.

Ibe being better XD! Let's not delude ourselves here. Raheem Sterling has played Premier league football regularly for 2 seasons and played in a world cup final, carrying Liverpool through most of last season. Sterling is pretty much the only Liverpool player that looks like he would be guaranteed world class. Sterling has started for a top national team in world cup finals at 19!

Starting for your national team means nothing, if the national team in question is England and the manager is woy hodgson.

That is true - I think it may all come down to how Sterling responds if indeed this does happen

There have been plenty of cases in the past (although slightly different to this) of players publicly stating their ambition to leave and continuing at a club. The most high profile that spring to mind are Rooney and Suarez.

But i don't think it was an unrealistic amount to ask for. In this current market with everything taken into account it's no surprise players are worth this amount

In better news, Gary Mcallister linked with the coaching role

How is that better news, just because you were a good player doesnt make you a good/excellent coach. same with those calling for hyppia for coach who failed at leverkusen and brighton.

Best freebie EVER! LOVE the baldy genius.

Man, if we could of gotten him all the years back when he was at Leicester. (By all accounts Kenny went in for him but Gary Mac didn't fancy his chances of ousting Whelan, McMahon, Molby et all for a regular place at such a young age.).

Sami didn't fail at Leverkusen. Come on man. He run Bayern and Dortmund close his two years there. And that was as a first time manager. He'll improve with experience and be back in the game sooner rather than later.

Well as Scouse put it 'baldy genius'

Leverkusen with the resources they have should be aiming for better than 4th which is what hyppia got them too in his full season in charge. Furthermore he failed at brighton. He might become better in the future but he is not what we need now.

England are a top 10 team with nothing to prove. You are seriously biased and delusional if you believe that England are not a top 10 international team. Nearly every player plays for a top team in the champions league.
No offence but England would be lucky to be a top 10 European team never mind world top 10.

Some of the posts Sterling are just nonsense. His ability is underrated just because he is leaving. On one hand we have posts saying Sterling has achieved **** all and on the other hand hyping of Ibe. Facepalmworthy posts.

Also Sterling was better than Coutinho in the first half of the season. Coutinho even barely contributed in the final third. Coutinho was very good in the second half in few games. Also Sterling's performance dropped once the contract news was public and war between club and him started.

Is he good player? Yes.
Worth the money City are paying? I don't know. Might be in the long run if he continues to improve.

Also pointing out how **** is finishing is lolworthy, considering he is very young and can improve always. It was never an issue for the fans when they lauded him as the best young player in Europe, now that he is leaving every weakness is highlighted.

If he improves his shot power he could be great. Right now about 1/4 of his shots are backpasses.

I am a Leeds fan so I have so much love for that Baldy Genius its untrue, as his time at Liverpool showed we should have never let him go in the first place.

I desperately wanted him to succeed when he came to manage us and we actually played decent stuff under him too, it just didn't work out.

Again though, you're pointing this out when the majority of Liverpool fans agree with this?

Fact is, he wasn't good enough to cut it. You can't expect opposition to give you a million years on the ball, which e plains why Italian teams fail in Europe.

Whaaaat!? Fail in Europe!?

Ac Milan won Champions league/ European cup 7 times and been runner up 4 times!

Inter have won it 3 times and came runner up 2 times. + Europa league 3 wins 2RU

Juventus won it twice and came runner up six times! + Europa league 3 wins, 2 RU

Italy have won the European championship once and the ****** world cup 4 times and came runner up twice.

Reading last few pages, I don't think Liverpool fans agree with what I'm saying. It looks completely different.
