By the way, is it me, or do I think that Benteke wouldn't be good for us? He wouldn't fit our style, he is a bit inconsistent and for the money we're paying for him (Apparently), I feel it's a waste of money.

Ah thank god. I just hope we get a proven striker other than Benteke, someone like Lacazette (Probably not gonna happen) or someone else with proven quality.

Sterling bid raised to 44million... Isn't it strange how all sources close to Man City said they wouldn't raise their offer and a few days later, they raise it. Just 6 more million to go lads
Mirror and Times saying if the £50mil is not met FSG are more than happy for Sterling to play in the reserves if his attitude does not change... Also wwill work with the PFA for the appropriate sanctions if he refuses to go on tour

Rodgers shows his inexperience here. Arsene Wenger would have had him sign a contract by January. Sterling's agent had messed the club around with uncertainty and it looked like he would have signed a new contract at the time. Liverpool tried to bully him into signing a new contact and made a mountain from a molehill by disrespecting him. Sterling is only really in the wrong here if he rejects to go on tour, which he's contractually obliged to. If he doesnt, the PFA gets involved, which can't see happening because of this. Openly bullying someone into signing a contract can cause a whole lot of legal issues, to the point where the contract can become void. Liverpool have handled this like amuteurs. We can safely assume that he's heading to City next season. The 'better' Jordan Ibe doesn't have the creativity, movement or tactical awareness to replace Sterling at this moment in time. Even with the signings so far, Liverpool are a worse side without him imo.

Utter bollocks. It has been said from the start that 50 million would be the asking price and early offers were around 25 million. So we've actually nearly pushed it all the way to the 50 million target which is fantastic in my opinion.
I could understand the frustration from the Liverpool end about the lack of clarity from Sterling and his agent, of what he wantedn , however this situation has been handled poorly from both sides. Liverpool would be mad not to take £44 million. It's a shame, because Liverpool should have kept him to move foward.
Tbh you have a point its clearly not about the money otherwise he would have signed the 90k-100k we offered him. He probably feels that he has developed enough ( he has not but what can you do) that he can go to a bigger club with better aspirations e.g competing for titles. I wont ***** foot around the issue and criticise sterling completely when the club also has to take responsibility e.g not offering him a contract earlier, and ******* rodgers openly telling the entire media he "has been offered an amazing contract". Thus making it seem he is a money grabber when he clearly wants to move for trophies. However sterling also has to take blame aswell his agent is clearly a cretin and this whole not going on tour bs is just childish. The funny thing is all of this could have been avoided if their was more clarity between the club and Raheem's agent etc... doesnt help when your represented by aidy ward.
Just seen Newcastle have signed Mitrovic for 12 mill. What a steal this kid would have suited our style of play very well. In before someone goes he isnt prem proven. My nan aint prem proven but im sure she would do a better job than ballo.
His move to City would be justified tbf. Liverpool could benefit from the £50 million. Sterling would be a guaranteed starter for a champions league team, with a better squad and greater prospects of winning trophies. I also think that with the new signings and persuasion (rather than trying to bully him into signing a contract), Sterling would have signed a new contract by now. Sterling probably isn't the only player in the world with a difficult agent, however that isn't an excuse for Rodgers and Aidy Ward to screw this up. Would you Liverpool fans consider it a win-win if he goes to City for £50 million?

Dude, you're letting your dislike for Rodgers cloud everything.
We started contract talks last summer. THREE frigging years before his contracts up. Just HOW much earlier than that do you think this or any other club should start talking to players? He started making noises back then that he wanted to not only return South, but move out of the North West altogether. Now he's liable to end up 35 miles down the road. Yeah, he wanted to move home alright and it's NOT about the money. And this was a team coming off being within three games of the title and being back in the Champions League. But it's NOT about the money and he 'clearly wants to win trophy's.' Although you are ironically right there, it isn't about the money as NO amount of money would of kept him at Anfield. His mind was set from the get go. Why we even attempted to change it is beyond me. Rodgers get's repeatedly asked how talks are going, and he say's we're still talking and Raheems been offered a very good deal. And that is deemed as Rodgers making him seem like a 'money grabber?' Are you believing what your telling yourself? Seriously? The only person who made him out to be that was the person who frigging is, Raheem Sterling. HE was the one who came out with the details and that he'd turned those figures down.
Don't pander to the idiots man. You have more or less the whole football community condemning Sterling for what he is, with Raheem, at 20, facing marking himself for life as a serious bad apple most clubs won't touch with a bargepole. (Save City right now who are absolutely desperate for home grown players.). He's **** all over his manager and has rightly been slammed across the football spectrum. Yet you're finding ridiculous ways to blame the manager who's gone out of his way for the boy.
You know I'm the very last person to shy away from criticising both the football club and manager when it's justified. But as regards this, it isn't and they don't deserve it. This is ALL of Raheem's OWN making.
Don't let your dislike of BR cloud your opinion of someone that has dragged your club through the VERY public mud for the last year and continues to take the **** out of you, me and every other red out there.

I meant that this whole media circus would never have happened if rodgers kept his mouth shut. all he would have to say was contract are on going or will be left to the summer. What did he say, he has been given an "incredible offer" going on to say sterling refused it. No wonder he doesnt want to play for him, he sold him down the drain. Again this is something that happened and could have been avoided. Sterling can **** off for all i care but you cant put 100% of the blame on a naive 20 year old lad. His agent and the people who represent him are the ones who caused all the media fracas. I personally dont think its about money he has a great chance to join a top club, i mean its funny a year ago he was being heralded as a great young player our future saviour now he is aaron lennon mark II. Im just looking at it from both sides and without red tinted lfc glasses on. Anywho 50mill for sterling is a great deal and we have ibe who the coaches rate better anyway.

He's been ill advised no question. But for that to keep happening, and for the agent to let him do all the talking and make himself continually look a complete and utter ***** ..... there comes a point where that stops being an issue and you should have enough sense to think for yourself.

Twice? Before Theo signed this summer, his contract was to end in 2017. That's two years, plus he had to prove his fitness of the back of an ACL injury. The first time in 2013, we hadn't won any trophies before the FA cup in 05, which was the reason that it went into his last year. He signed a new 3 and a half year contract because we met his needs financially and on the pitch, as well as keeping him happy.
Can you think of any player who's left because we bullied them into signing a contract or didn't want to play for Arsene Wenger. I have no dislike of Rodgers. I'm a fan of things and think that he should stay on as Liverpool manager, however that doesn't detract for the poor handling of the situation.
