For all this bullying it seems Sterling is keeping the situation in the media, not Liverpool... It had quietened down before he decided to not to go on tour

Ill drive him there myself for 50million... It would be an extraordinary deal from Liverpool

Can you think of any player who's left because we bullied them into signing a contract or didn't want to play for Arsene Wenger. I have no dislike of Rodgers. I'm a fan of things and think that he should stay on as Liverpool manager, however that doesn't detract for the poor handling of the situation.

Twice. Unless every report I've just re-looked at that his deal was up in 2016 is wrong and you're right. (Which you all but contradict yourself with with the 3 and a half year line above.).

And when we have a player who's left because he was either 'bullied into a signing a contract', or 'didn't want to play for Rodgers', let me know. Because if you honestly believe that's the case here you're both no fan of Rodgers at all and are naive in the extreme.

Or you're purposefully trolling to get reactions.

Its hard and to know which.

Yeah, read that the other day. Has quite the problem deciding what his 'reasons' really are huh?

The last few sentences there bare repeating:

I find it absolutely unbelievable that anyone can straight faced blame Rodgers through all this. He has been like the preverbal father figure to Sterling, going above and beyond what any manager should have to. Maybe because he comes from a coaching background with kids and knows exactly how to handle them. Maybe because he saw something special in Raheem worth nurturing. Only to have the backstabbing little rat **** all over him, his teammates, the football club and every last one of US out there. And continue to do so. You have more and more of the football community seeing him exactly for what he is and condemning him bar the naive few who would appear to have ulterior motives. Their stance in the face of everything t the contrary is incredulous

For any Liverpool fan to go against the manager on this is completely beyond the pale to me and say's far more about their agenda with BR than anything else.

In my opinion, it's an Okay deal for Liverpool. He fills their English quota, he's better than what City have, he's pretty much guaranteed to become world class at thus stage and he can play for another 12-13 years. From a City point of view, it's not a bad deal. Who is going to replace him?

It's a fantastic deal for Liverpool.

Im not for a moment doubting that Sterling is an important player for Liverpool, but his current level is nowhere near the level of previous big players to leave and we will be receiving more money than the majority of them

I also dont believe he is a guaranteed starter or guaranteed world-class player - He has the potential to be but at the moment that is all there is. Like i have mentioned before, he has never hit double figures in goals or assists

Apologies about the dates. His contract was to end in 2016, however he has to prove himself after an ACL. Look at my previous posts. I even defended Rodgers when he was nearly sacked a few weeks ago. I'm a fan of hin as a manager, however that doesn't mean that he can't ****-up a situation like this time. I have better things to do than troll. While I understand the lack of clarity from Sterling and his agent, that doesn't mean that you should bully someone into signing a contract. The way Rodgers has handled this has been disrespectful and patronising. My point was that all Rodgers did was give him a reason to leave, rather than persuade.
 
I never said that Sterling is a world class player. I mean that at the rate he's developing, I'm 90% sure he'll become world class in the next 3 years. Who's going to start over Sterling? City are lacking in the attacking midfielder front. All they have there is Navas, Silva and Nasri. Sterling is much better than Navas, therefore he's a guaranteed starter. I also don't think that City would stick a £50 million player on the bench.

His value wouldn't matter as his contract is up in two years... next summer with only a year left his value would already decrease alot

We would actually get a similar amount at a tribunal in two years time so completely possible (Although probably more of a threat from FSG than it actually happening)

All relative. The longer he's not playing, the lower any potential transfer fee drops.

What a tribunal would award two years down the line and what City have already offered is a massive difference however you slice it.

They'd be back with a **** of a lot smaller offer in January.

That's true - Although no matter what happens in the next few years I cannot see how anything below £20million will be rewarded at a tribunal

Besides, if we do intend to be stubborn on our price Raheem will change his tune knowing he has too otherwise he will waste a few years of his career

Raheem Sterling back training while Liverpool name Henderson captain | Football | The Guardian

Raheem Sterling is back in training after calling in sick for two days. Liverpool send medical staff to the players as a standard procedure and we haven't heard any evidence that he was avoiding training. It would be very inappropriate to stick him in the reserves, unless he rejected to join Liverpool's pre season tour, which he is contractually obliged to. So far he had said that he doesn't what to, but it remains to see whether he does. The Independent aren't very reliable and neither are the mirror, who they are quoting. The article probably isn't true.

He doesn't trust or want to work with the manger. He's made that rod for his own back.

What more reason does a club need?

I very much doubt it would happen. I honestly can't see any way he's here to start the season. It would be completely detrimental to everything. But it would be darn funny justice and a serious warning to others if a club did stand up to a player in this era like that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I've seen him only in this year's Arsenal matches, but isn't he like Benteke (big, strong poacher)?

Also this whole bullying into signing BS. People and media look too much into what Rodgers said, and they've constructed this thing. I very much doubt his intentions were tu bully Sterling into signing, he just said the contract is good. It's like Mourinho, everything he says now are "mind games". I'm pretty sure if he didn't say that, people would complain that the offer was too low and Rodgers and FSG are idiots and they should splash cash and so on...

Intersting to see if Sterling makes the plane. Not sure if there's anything in Ballo's absence being as his foster dad's just passed and there 's a funeral coming up.

Delph rejecting Man City could force their hand in regards to Sterling... That quota causing a few problems for them
