Not trying to start the whole "Rodgers is clueless" debate again, but this is a very interesting read. Great tactical analysis. Hopefully this doesn't cause us problems this year

A ‘Pressing’ concern… Going into the new season! | EmpireOfTheKop.com

Interesting read, although creating a box with space behind it and a few screenshots is pretty easy to do with alot of positions.

I do agree with it to some degree though, but I don't think it's so straight forward as that either!

I watched the U21's last night against Chester, although they got smashed 4-0. Rossiter played the first half and looked a real talent, didn't lose the ball once and was telling the team where to go, showed real leadership.

Obviously Chester are no world class team but was nice to see a leader there.

He come off and the team bottled it and conceded 3 after it!

A lot of Gerrards traits in Rossiter.

Really, really hope he continues developing enough to have a career here at the highest level. There's absolutely nothing better than having a local lad come all the way through the ranks. That's the ultimate.

Yeah he did remind me of him last night, just without the added talent.

Rossiter will be his own player, I don't think he's the same type of player as Gerrard, but he had the leadership qualities and seemed to have complete respect of all the players, another lad I liked the look of last year against Middelsborough was Jordan Williams, think he's been loaned out to Sheff Wed now.

He looked so comfortable on the ball! Think big things will come from him.

Was funny yesterday, a few words went round that Coutinho was getting a run around and some lad was warming up across the pitch and from a distance everyone thought it was him, when he come on they found out it wasnt haha!

Seen a few reports that Spurs want Ricky Lambert. Tottenham have the worst list of strikers I can think of and adding him just adds to that.

Don't want him to go there either, he deserves somewhere where he will get football!

But imagine!

Well it's a step up from just moving on EVERY target we have.

Maybe the fella' they have spying outside Melwood had been rumbled so they're cutting out the middle man and just targeting players we actually own already now? :P

He should go back to Southampton. With Europa league he should get enough games unless I have missed them signing other striker

Balotelli apparently now the 7th choice striker behind Ojo and Sinclair with an asking price of around 7-10million - Just with everything that's happened it suggests to me he was never a Rodgers signing (Perhaps a bit of panic with no other player available that late in the window)

Also rumours of us wanting Adama Traore on loan

Lambert's having a medical at West Brom, good luck to him!

Absolutely.

Fella' was nothing if not fully professional and hard working. Just made up to be at his club. He just wasn't good enough.

Personally thought we treated him REAL shoddily last year. He could of quite possibly been playing in a Cup Final with the Villa move we left way too late knowing full well we weren't going to play him.

All the best Ricky. Glad you got to realise your dream.

Talking of strikers, rumours are Mario won't even be playing at Swindon. This is beyond a joke now. Why is he still here when we have absolutely NO intention of playing him?

*Edit* Marshall beat me. But to take that on, if Rodgers is trying to show the owners, then he's no better than what he makes Mario out to be.

Yeah I'm really disappointed in the whole Balotelli situation. I'm one of his biggest critics in terms of the effort he puts in.

And I'm one of the only people who haven't fell for this "Balotelli is world class when he wants to be" bullshit.

He's not. He has a few good games every now and again, and these games are getting fewer and fewer.

BUT, BUT, for some stupid reason I think we should give him a chance, but if were not going to then get rid now. Doesn't look like were going to so!

No. You are not the only one. At least you can count me in.

One of the most overrated players of last decade. He has beasty shot from distance and that's it. Nothing else. He has strength but doesn't use it well. Goes down so easily.

I'd say over hyped more than overrated as most people I know think hes **** lol.

He seems to have lived off his reputation of potential since he was at Inter. Other that the odd long range goal, a freekick or penalty he rarely shows why he was so talked about when he was young.

I thought Liverpool might have been the club to finally get the best out of him when in fact things couldn't have gone much worse really!

I said overrated as media just thinks he is some super hero but not realizing his potential.

I remember him compared to Cantona as some sort of Genius, phew..

I actually like Balotelli, though he is frustrating and nowhere near as good as he gets made out to be. He still gets hounded by bad press even when doing nothing wrong. Has he actually done anything bad off the field since playing for Liverpool?

I think He could work with Benteke up front, though it wouldn't be the most mobile of attacks it is a very different option. Sadly it looks like he won't even get the chance.

He's not terrible, hes not a genius. Apparently he is well liked by teammates, I can't recall anyone slagging him off. Even Pirlo likes and rates him.

Just can't see where he can go now that will pay him what he wants. Can you see him being loaned out?

I think we will loan him out, which is frustrating as **** considering we paid £16 million for him. I'd rather keep him and give him a chance than loan him.

If they want to sell him then fair enough!

He needs to be the focus of a teams attack to be good I think. A few lower Prem sides would probably get 15+ goals out of him if he played the majority of the matches.

Go on Villa, put a loan offer in, that would really wind one of my mates up too which would be a bonus ;)

Did we watch a different Mario playing for his team in Milan Joe? He was motivated and great those 2 years for me. And the Euros Poland and the Ukraine he was unplayable.

He's overrated in so far as his performances. (Or lack of them.). But pure talent wise I'd completely dispute that. Talent wise he's up there with anything. His touch and control are the equal of if not better than Suarez. But sadly he's not got that 100% every game never give in attitude Luis has got. Mario works, just in a less noticeable way. If Mario had Luis attitude you'd have a phenomenal player. Sadly, all you have is a massive waste of ridiculous God given talent down to his lax attitude. Which is to the Italians detriment.

And although he's not been blameless at Anfield, as big a part in his failings have been Rodgers. He didn't want him to start with and its not hard to make a player look bad. And boy has he with Mario. Consistently playing him in a role even a blind man can see you'll never get anything out of Mario. Expecting him to be like Luis. Up front. On his own. With no support. Never has been his game never will be. He needs someone to play off and just do his thing. Which we now have the ideal candidate yet Rodgers still refuses to even give him a chance after setting himself up as the scorned one by saying it's all in Marios hands. In his hands ..... But I won't work with him and give him a chance.

To have him training on his own along with Borini and Enrique (f knows whatever he's done wrong) is an absolute disgrace and to everyone's detriment. Realy feel for them there. (Bar Borini who's just a *** and has had ample opportunity to leave.).

i can criticise Mario for his attitude at times last season. But there were a heck of a lot of times he DID work hard right across the line with little to no help from his manager. It's like BR is showing the ownership he was right and they were wrong come what may when we could still be getting a **** of a lot more out of Ballo.

Why he's still here when we have no intention of playing him is beyond a joke.

To treat him like a nomark youth player when all he's done is got on with it is an absolute disgrace.
