In my opinion, Liverpool have got to stop buying so many average players. The only signing that's improved the first team is Clyne. Milner, Ings, Gomez, Bogdan and Benteke have all increased depth, however the first team isn't that improved. BR screwed up the Sterling contract situation, however after selling him, Liverpool should have left it in the kitty to offer big money to a champions league quality attacker. Liverpool aren't signing a top player based on future prospects due to many top European clubs having money, however if Liverpool payed over the market rate for a player, you might actually have improved. One example is Alexis. You may had enough had a better chance if he was offered 200k+ per week.

Genius. It's not as if clubs buy players because they're average is it?

Clyne, Milner and Benteke improved the starting 11 and despite what you say, it's not as easy as throwing money at a player (Unless it is Man City amounts).

The club is not in a position to sign top talent because any top talent that is available is targeted by clubs in better positions. The bracket below that is what Liverpool are competing in the majority of the time

I said that Clyne has improved the starting 11. Benteke isn't better than Sturridge and Milner isn't much better than what you have despite being a solid, versatile player. Would you agree that if Alexis joined Liverpool on 200k per week and performed how he has thus far, he would represent a fair value for money, considering the struggle to recruit top talent? In my opinion, Cech has improved Arsenal more than any Liverpool signing as he is a huge step up from Ospina. The issue for Liverpool in coming seasons will remain to be player recruitment. Can Liverpool secure a world class player?

“It is difficult because there’s more money in football, more clubs with big resources, and less players available,” said Wenger. “The funds are there more than the players who could strengthen the squad. That is a big problem. People know that you have the resources and they want you to buy players from clubs who do not need your resources, and who are not necessarily prepared to sell".

Arsene was pretty dead on with this. There's a stickpiling of talent at top clubs with huge financial resources, and there are many clubs with huge financial resources looking for players, inflating prices and meaning that the smaller details are more important to prise a player to a club.

firstly, transfers dont work like that their isnt some kitty were you get full amounts of money from a transfer. NO transfer above say 15mill is ever payed in full amount. Secondly the chances of a non champions league team being able to snare a champions league quality striker is extremely hard, plus theirs a lack of top class strikers as it is. Alexis went to arsenal because his wife wanted london. Simples.

Sterling was 36 million to Liverpool, 8 million to QPR and another 6 for Liverpool, depending on whether City win the champions league. The Alexis wife thing was quoted by BR last season and most recently John Henry. This may have been to pardon the blushes of having a transfer snared away by a rival. When was the last time Liverpool signed a world class player? Even if Liverpool were in the same City, I can't see why he would join Liverpool over Arsenal.

*Whispers 'You're forgetting this is all in his FM World.'

Humour him.

All but 6 million of the Sterling transfer was paid upfront. Thankfully, I know enough of how transfers work. No need to get sarcastic and disrespectful. Madrid and Barcelona commonly pay large amounts in instalments to keep up with ridiculous spending habits. The majority of PL clubs pay higher amounts of larger transfers upfront. The reason that most of the Sterling transfer was upfront is that QPR were set to take a chunk due to the sell on clause and Liverpool were reluctant to sell to a rival.

Cheeky 10er on pool to win bentekkers anytime 9s, on skybet price boosts if anyone is feeling foolishly brave like me, tbf fancy Benteke against Gabriel and Chambers personally.

Pleased to see Rodgers has gone with arguably the perfect line up (Barring the exclusion of Sakho)

Down to the players now.

Absolutely. Not getting ahead of myself as there's still 90 VERY hard minutes of hard work to go, but if we win this, we should be looking at going Utd 100% in a few weeks.

But first things first, the 90 minutes tonight. Had a gut feeling we'd get three points all week. Which has been bizarre as I'm normally the voice of caution but that's been EVERYONE else I know ha ha. Their left hand side is a massive weakness for me to exploit. And I'm far more confident of keeping Sanchez in check now we have a solid *** FB at RB. And then there's Cech's VERY dodgy start and two new centre backs in front. One, the South American, who barely speaks a word of English.

That gut feeling is getting strong. Let's do this!

Mighty Reds!

Shocking call from the Lino then. Should be 1-0 down. Can see lots of goals in this game

No question. Terrible call from the lino but it was tight in live play.

Need to get tighter in midfield, because there's goals in this for us.

Look solid this year, sadly.

That said anyone against gabriel and chambers should have some joy, awful looking partnership.
