Wonder where Southgate will play Joe tonight if he starts him?

Centre half or FB?

Might well try catch that game to see out of curiosity the next stage in his rapid development.
 
Liverpool have submitted their final Europa League squad to UEFA, and with no home grown players they are limited to 21 names—with no room for Jose Enrique or Joao Carlos Teixeira.

Huh? That's as surprising as it is disappointing. But on the plus side, at least we appear to be giving the Europa the respect it deserves and giving it a serious go again. In personnel at least. Attitude could yet be another thing again .....

Ibe and Rossiter don't need to be listed as they're both under-21 and have been at the club for 2 years continuous since the age of 15. Which is UEFA rules apparently.​

If teixeira cant get into the europa squad then it prob spells the end for him. Because lets be honest he wont get a game in the league apart from a couple of mins here and there. Such a shame i guess.

That and also the stockpiling of midfielders being bought every summer window. I honestly believe this is the best batch of youngsters we have had in more than a decade. It would be criminal if some of them did not become first team players. You cant even argue their still young because their now at the stage were they need competitive first team football. A cup game here and there wont suffice.
 
So I put on Germany- Poland, just because, like Germany- Austria/ Netherlands; England- Scotland; Australia- New Zealand; it's just one of those sporting occasions that totally transcends the sport being played and is about WAY much more .....

..... And there's Emre Can, making his full International debut ..... at RIGHT BACK! WTF? Who does Low think he is? BR? XD.

Mixed first start for Emre. (Not surprising as he's NOT a fricking FB! :@.). Very good going forward. Some very strong tackles and good distribution. But getting caught positionally, not least for the goal that got Poland back in it at the current 2-1 score when he'd pushed up and there was gaping space in behind. And he had a miscued clearance that almost presented the Poles with a chance.

Real good game this.

Finished 3-1 Germany. Overall a decent debut from the new boy in an unfamiliar position. He grew more into his defensive role second half was still be a threat going forward. We've known it was going to be sooner rather than later when he stepped up to full International level given the way Low has gushed about him but he could give you so much more in his natural position Joachim.

Both lightening quick. Both exceptionally raw and completely unproven in England. Both have a very similar record in France. Both starting to garner similar hype before their respective moves.

You keep mentioning two Champions League games for Martial where he flashed. Origi played and scored in a WC finals and has consistently been a feature of the Belgium squad.

Both liable to have a similar impact for their clubs this year. Not much of any in all probability.

'Cept one is over double and more the price of the other.

It's npt a slight on Martial. It's just a glaring comparison at this stage of their respective career development.

Woah didn't realise you could predict future. (H)

I'm impressed with that I've seen of Martial's performances in them games you mentioned though. The difference with when I've seen Origi is that despite even if he had scored, he has never shown me anything that makes me think he has much of anything.

I can't really go much into details because I don't know enough of both players, I'm guessing Mike or someone else might be able to say if they are in any way similar types of players. I don't think they are from what I've briefly seen of both.

As Henry said, who's seen quite a bit of Martial for Monaco, he finds it impossible to really say much of anything about him on so few appearances.

And I don't for one minute rate Origi. One would hope for the price he's a lot better, but that wasn't the point of responding to what you asked. Everyone is on about right here, right now. And at this point, everything is eerily similar.

But most of the points you made could be said for a lot of youngsters. Quick, raw, not proven in England, doesn't really say much if you get my drift.

I think you're reaching to try hold onto anything that this is a good buy. As most any fan would.

And it might well be down the line. The Frenchmen who first brought him to my attention a year back has him down as a future striker for Les Bleus. But the key word there is 'future.' Not that he knows any more than you or I , but he's leaving France too early in his opinion.

Just don't see him contributing much this year as I don't Origi was all I was saying to what Spook started there. And that doesn't leave you in a good spot in the short term.

But hey, he's not even kicked a ball in England as yet so it's all waisted hypotheticals all ways until he does.
