Apparently the last issues to sort out are the committee and FSG wanting to retain Gary Mac and O'Driscoll
 
I can see Can (no pun etc) being a great player under Klopp.

Think Milner will do well in Klopps style too

I hope that's WAY off the mark in reality if for nothing else than the future of FSG whilst they're still owners.

How you conduct your transfer business is one thing. But the very LAST thing a manager should have is his coaching staff handed to him. Those relationships are integral and he needs guys around him he believes in and trusts.

Picking the staff should, even if that means letting go any existing members on big contracts/ club legends etc (not the case in this instance); should be HIS decision and HIS alone IMHO.

Bild is writing some weird ****. They're claiming that Liverpool are insisting that Klopp works with those two, which doesn't make any sense to me. Sky is saying that Buvac is coming too, and all local journalists are saying that Gary Mac and O'Driscoll will either be released from their contracts or given new roles.

They're also claiming that he will sign at lunchtime today, and that he will be presented tomorrow at 10 GMT.

I'm leaning towards trusting Sky, BBC, Echo etc. ahead of Bild.. It just doesn't make any sense that FSG would approach Klopp, and say "we really want you as our new manager, but you **** well better work with the staff that was appointed by the manager we just sacked".

I thought they were one one year rolling contracts? Wouldn't cost much to get rid.. I kind of feel for Gary Mac though getting ****** off after a few months. He deserves better and was a legend for us.

Yeah they're on 1 year contracts. According to reports from The Guardian and The Telegraph, O'Driscoll will be sacked while Gary Mac will probably continue either at the academy or in and around the first team. Chris Davies and Glen Driscoll have also been sacked. Pepijn Lijnders and Ryland Morgan will keep their jobs.
 
Lijnders can stay, he has 4 stars in FM. Rest is 3 stars or lower, they can go.

All gone bar Lijnders.

Shame being as O'Driscoll, as much as he should never of been allowed ANYWHERE near Anfield (like the completely inexperienced Rodgers when he was appointed), left a position with England to take the role and Gary Mac was just made up to be back at Anfield. Poorly handled by FSG who should of bin bagged him straight after the Stoke disgrace instead of letting it role and (presumably, unless he's a complete backstabbing ****) forcing him to get rid of his guys.

But let's be honest, they've both had little to no effect on the abysmally bad, sterile ***** that has rolled over from last season and at least they aren't costing a fortune in guaranteed contract money.

Hopefully Achterberg is HIGH on the cut list too given as he's the individual coach to one of the worst 'keepers in the league.

All for everyone paying and a completely new staff coming in to start this new and exciting era.
 
A little surprised to see Gary Mac leave too, but I suppose it couldn't be helped.

If Achterberg stays, I'll be hugely disappointed. Can he point to any results at all?

I really hope he doesn't go raiding Dortmund. Always seems a lame, if natural, move to me when managers at a new club do that to their former one. And can often result in a lot of ill feeling that most certainly isn't there with Jurgen and Dortmund right now.

I'd swerve Hummels too personally. He's always struck me like Mertesacker down at Arsenal. Great if your defending the 18 yard box. Big, strong, great in the air. Old fashioned centre half. But easy to get behind if he's not deep with his lack of pace. Which in this league that is ALL about pace, and maybe Klopp employing a high line ultimately, isn't a prosperous combination for him.
 
He's about to join this small and very select group of fortunate gentlemen that have had the honour of managing this wonderful football club. Amazing when you think there's only been 22 full time managers in 123 years. A complete testimony to not only the ridiculous success we've enjoyed but the nature of the football club.

Let's hope it's a VERY long time before we're looking at adding #24 to that list and he winds up among the most successful of them and an all time L'pool great.
 
For the remainder of this season I expect what I would of expected under Rodgers had he been at all competent to manage the squad. A top 4 finish, a serious run at the Europa League, and a good domestic cup showing.

As poor as we've benn to date, the league has been completely up and down the first 8 games and we're a mere 3 points out of 4th. And 6 points off top spot. Within 2 games off three of the other 4 challengers for the top 4 slots. And 2 games clear of the other one, Chelsea. Klopp's walking into an excellent situation there. And if he hits the ground running and get's a few wins out of the gate, the momentum could really roll. We will now take the Europa League seriously too. He'll want to do real well in that. Really optimistic that by his mere enthusiasm and the massive lift he's given the fanbase who are all 100% behind him, this season could well turn into WAY more than we ever expected from the Irish idiot. And when he get's a settled system in place, with players not being played out of position, things can only get better still.

Long term, watch out. If FSG have got this one right and are backing him to the max, L'pool's cycle could well be coming round again.

Looking thought that list with pride... then I see Hodgson and get horrendously terrifying flash backs.
