In response to this .....

You completely misconstrued that. In large part down to my wording for which I apologise. I was making the distinction between Saturday's performance and what went before as you well know. And you also fully know, as we've had the discussion previous, that the ' ..... and being as organised and defending as a team' was related to 2013/14 and a title he'd of won if he'd done any of that. You just chose to band it all together on 2013/14.

As for that season, it's been done ad-nauseum. If you continue to choose to dismiss the major difference maker Suarez was upon his return to a team that coming off a home loss that had struggled through the first 4 (wonder what happened to this great managerial 'inspiration' there?) then that's your prerogative. (The similar way he transformed Barcelona's season last year upon his return from the ban. Or was that all Enrique too?). He had a career year that elevated everyone way more than anyone else's influence on that side. Rodgers, Gerrard or anyone else you care to mention. The attack, with Sturridge fit and working brilliantly with him and Sterling playing off the extra space created by Luis the second half of the year took care of itself. ALL he had to do was have any semblance of a defence and he'd be sat up there with Shankly, Paisley and Dalglish as a legend who finally brought home number 19.

Again, credit him for being the manager of arguably the 6th best squad going in and coming within a game of the title. But he was equally at fault as to why it ultimately ended fruitless.

And that season was the exception to the norm as it was one continuous ****-up from a man that should never of been appointed to start with.

But that's past and you're gonna' think what you like. The same with Sterling. So carry on unabated and we'll leave it at that.

no just no

Not really to bothered about the pool stuff because your head is not for turning, but saying Suarez transformed Barcelona's season no he didn't, that is just so not true.

yes he had an impact but there is this little argentine fella who actually changed positions which was arguably the biggest factor last season among other reasons.

Performances were struggling with Enrique in serious trouble before Suarez came back off the ban man.

No doubting the brilliance of Messi. But things turned when they got all three together.

I don't particularly like him and wanted him moved on after the Ivanovich bite. But his influence by the mere nature of his non-stop, 90 minute all out game on everyone on the pitch is like no player I've ever seen.

My advice is to do a humanities degree. You can sleep all day, fuc- I mean, play FM all night and all you have to do is read the odd book. 3 years of easy existence, then you can spend the rest of your life after that in a job where your only responsibility is pumping out pseudo intellectual thoughts in "brainstorming meetings", drinking coffee and writing things. It's great.

No I am sorry that is just not true, by the time Suarez made his first start Barcelona had not lost a game in the league, in fact Suarez' first start they lost to Real. Enrique came under pressure when rumours where circulating that he and Messi did not get on at the turn of the year and then the crowd grew restless over their style of play or at least that's how I seem to recall it.

But that is beside the point, yes Suarez is the reason that Messi plays more centrally now and Suarez's all action style of course contributes to that but here is the reason Barcelona swept all aside

Messi 2014/15
Goals : 53
Assists : 23

Performances were still slipping. They were getting a lot of criticism performance wise. Not least in Europe.

No coincidence that everything went up a gear when he came back off his ban.

But it did not go up a gear when he came off his ban, he came back in October they lost the next two league games, It went up a notch when Messi moved to central slighty more withdrawn role, it got the most out of Messi. That is why it went up a notch, as someone who watches Barcelona a fair bit too I would actually put Neymar above Suarez in importance and also last year Rakitic was outstanding and Iniesta did what he has done for the best part of ten years.

Suarez is a world class player no doubt, however Messi is quite simply the best player of his generation (not starting the CR7 debate if you prefer him fair one). And until the day he retires, goes back to Newells or his legs go he will always be the main reason Barelona do well, and that is not a sleight on Suarez it is just how god **** good Messi is.

Won't get any argument from me on Messi.

Just disagree on the difference/ lift Suarez gave that team last year.

But like I say, I don't particularly care for him so I'm bored discussing him. Lol.

Luis Suarez gave Barcelona almost as big of a lift as he did in Liverpool's 2013/14 season. He's simply the best number 9 on earth. His creative play changes Barca's attack last season. In the league he scored 14 and came up with an incredible 16 assists in 25 games. Her scored 7 and assisted 3 in 10 champions league games, scoring vital goals which took Barca through many tight ties. He completely changes their attack because they haven't had a proper no 9 since Ibra, let alone Suarez.

Looks like Origi is the only striker option again tomorrow.

Worrying as we need goals. But far less worrying than it was a couple of weeks back now he's being shown faith and played in his proper position. Thought he looked a lot better Saturday overall without being a big threat. Ran the channels well and knew when to come back and help out.

Looking forward to seeing another step forward and a little bit more after another 4 days with his new players getting across his philosophy.

Confident of the first European win of the season. Certainly won't be for the lack of effort on or off the pitch. Should be bouncing his first home game.

Love the way he's telling the FA straight too. England's handling of Rossiter was a complete and utter joke.

*Edit* LOVE the way he defends Lucas at the end of the same too. Rather testy presser that one ha ha.

I know (how)who* to PM in 3 years for a graduate job. ;)

God I'm not graduating.

First Degree was in Psychology which is essentially ******* useless where I live, I have just started a degree in Learning Disability Nursing, its probably the least clinical of the nursing degrees and the most flexible, the upside and downside is one in the same all day with 300 females;) . What are you studying?

Ah, females. The main reason I'm here. Studying Business and Public Relations. Think it is a well-rounded degree.

Next to Debenhams down L'poolONE? *Curious me.

Maybe... hahaha

Jeez, LVG has an awful lot to answer for.
I'm sick to my back teeth of the new football buzzword 'Philosophy'.

Last year it was physicality.

How about 'The Liverpool Way' for (hopefully) the next decade and more?

Everyone else as excited about tonight as I am? We need to have the old place ROCKING! If he thinks Dortmund was special, he's in for a treat! But if anyone sings that agadoo ***** I may well personally slap yer!

2/3 goal victory and the road to Basle well and truly up and running!

Can't wait!

Feel the student pain, just started my second degree and whilst working nights have to go to uni its ******* **** when I do the night shift then go straight to uni, the job is not taxing but staying awake is they still have not sorted my bursary either tossers.

I obviously know absolutely nothing about UK job market. But in here, the absolute best thing to do if you ****** yourself with ****** degree, is to make Pharmacy Technician quals.

It only takes two years to do, decent money, plenty of jobs, good job security for the future because people love their pills. And last but not least, if you're single, 90% of people taking the course are 19-year old chicks.

I actually know someone going down the Pharmacy route and he's already got more than one degree. I think he's driving Ambulances as he does it as well or something.

We should change this thread title to Liverpool FC and Career Discussion thread. Actually, I can see a lot of jokes coming out of that hahaha

This man and this City were made for each other. He ******* gets it!

"This is my first time as manager of Liverpool for a game at Anfield and it is something that will be very important for me and my staff.

You [the fans] have a vital role to play in what we are looking to achieve. You are a very special group of supporters and the atmosphere you create is unique.

I ask that you believe in this team and believe that together we can achieve great things. We must all stay together and look to enjoy the experience of following such a great club. Football should be about joy and fun and that must be reflected throughout the entire organisation.

The team will go out and battle for you and look to represent you, the club and the city in how we approach our work: this is my commitment"

He is the new Shankly.

Hoping to wake up to a positive result tomorrow! Would love to watch it but it's at an awful time here and our cable tv doesn't show Europa League matches :(

Hopefully tomorrow's sociology lecture will be filled with reading articles on how well we played! :P
