Well that was FAR better than I dared hope.

Great response to the recent unacceptable tripe with a fantastic performance at a real hard place to go win. Work rate back in abundance. And fantastic movement and interplay which should of lead to far more than the one at the break. Coutinho looking far better when he's actually playing smart football and not just predictably blind shooting. Firmino regaining confidence from somewhere. Allen absolutely immense. (Theres something that's probably never EVER been said.). Great goal from Ibe with a sick assist from the aforementioned Welsh Xavi. (Let him have that tag after tonight's display.). Still can't finish for **** like and Mingolet still giving you fits at times but a VASTLY improved display and a fantastic result which looks even better with all the adversity that had to be overcome. THREE more hammys? Are you ******* ******** me?!!!! How freaking unlucky are we? Hopefully Phil's isn't too bad as he went the bench but we HAVE to buy a centre half now before next Wednesday. Exeter we can get through but we've literally nottin' left for Arsenal.

I think people who expect Liverpool to display BVB kind of workrate are a little naive.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Klopp, but I've always suspected that Dortmund were doping as ****. All the signs are there. They find bunch of players on a scrapyard, the whole squad runs like they have 4 lungs for a few years and they nearly conquer the world. Suddenly injures start piling up like its Vietnam War, and just as suddenly, none of the players who left the club look remotely as good, apart from Lewandowski who was always most talented of the bunch.

That **** doesn't add up and you know it.

Much better last night but the injury list is particularly worrying.

Going against Arsenal and United with 11 first team injures, 5 of which are almost guaranteed starters and not having a single CB fit would take some miracle to gain anything out of the games.

I do like Benteke but it does show how much better the team is without him. It is not that he is a bad player as he would flourish at plenty of other top sides but he is quite a limited player

Interesting, because you never hear of doping in football. I personally still have my doubts about spanish football (spanish athletes in general) around 2010. But then it's impossible to prove.

Of course this type of work rate makes players more susceptible, but there are far more factors than just the style of play. Injuries before Klopp came in limiting options, similar teams for most games across a long period, no winter break so games thick and fast.. No surprise really!

Unreal isn't it? Off the charts crazy doping allegations aside, the media reaction is something to behold over analysing this so it's no surprise I suppose folk are gonna' run with the style of play/ training (which we're barely even doing right now with all the games but that would spoil a good conspiracy to say that they aren't being over worked in practice) despite everything to the contrary that you mentioned.

Could fit to Klopp tactics? Benteke has not proven himself and Sturridge is Sturridge again...

Klopp wants a striker with energy and a high work rate. Balotelli and work-rate are polar opposites. Ings, however, could be a very good player under Klopp.

Benteke is a decent plan B. Balotelli has been utterly abysmal, I don't think we can have any regrets at signing him though, was always worth the punt.

Or perhaps Klopp is a genuinely good manager with a philosophy many have failed to conquer. Maybe he actually was fantastic at recruiting youngsters in what was quite honestly a poor league (in terms of competition). Perhaps such a high intensity style of play affected some players and left them with long-term muscle damage.

NAH DEFFO DOPING.

Also who are these players who left and flopped? The only stars to have left were Lewandowski and Gotze who believe or not have continued to have very good careers. I guess you could argue Kagawa, a player who had a very good 18 months at Dortmund but was never really regarded as world-class, merely "in-form".

Moving away from the doping allegation ridiculousness, to be kind .....

Hoping City batter Everton tonight and the second leg on two counts.

If we are indeed to get to another League Cup final, City is a far more appetising opposition. Much rather lose to them if it came down to it than the bitters. And the day has a lot less propensity for aggro like a final Derby does.

And if we did f-up at home against Stoke, at least we'd still have Everton the league the day of the final and not have it moved to a Wednesday night.

Yeah not sure about the doping, but what he did have to help him was a proper winter break how long is it over a month? He also had the second best team in the legue by a distance.
