You sure? Few days back some of you were patting your back yourselves for the excellent article posted here, which talked about height advantage.

Apologies, I must have missed that... It's not a defining factor but it's going to contribute if the opposition has either a tall player or a good header of the ball

Fellaini at Anfield proved that - That was the only way United would have scored that day.

Tbh shorter players have dealt with Fellaini easily. He has height but he doesn't have leap at all. It's not just the height, it was poor organization and lack of leader controlling the defense.

Yeah, height is advantage but not when it's just 2-3 CMs. Lot depends on the leap and timing. Also organization of defense for set pieces.

No need to apologise. It was part of an excellent three part series saying exactly what you just have been whilst analysing the height differences in what we've faced.

But our 'friend' here took offence and put it down to more excuses for poor results.

And that article was load of **** and was proved then only. Yes, it was excuse used by you.

Of course it was. You don't agree, everything's '****.'

But then I never posted it so why it would be my excuse I'm not entirely sure.

He does have a leap. What he doesn't have, is mobility. A cross needs to be inch perfect for him to have time to set-up and leap properly.

Because you were in tears with how well the article was written and how he made excellent analysis and agreed with the excuse.

I posted it, but never was the intention to excuse or blame the height so much.
For me it was interesting and analytic read that u dont find so often.

I need to travel to this parallel Universe where a height disadvantage is NOT a height disadvantage and therefore an excuse.

In this Universe it's what you said and we appreciate the link.

Interesting little discussion over the Utd thread on who'd get into a combined team from either side, so it seemed a good place to look at where we're at looking ahead to the summer window and what we all need to do realistically for ***** and giggles.

Goalkeeper.

What do you say here? Obviously we need one. But nobody truly knows what the plan is with the ridiculous Mingolet deal. Hopefully Danny Ward shows enough to at least be a stable back-up.

Defo a new first choice 'keeper needed.

Defence.

RB. Presuming Flanno returns to full health, we're set there. Clyne's as good as any RB the league for me and Jon adds quality depth.

LB. I'd love Moreno to be replaced but I don't see that happening anytime soon and I don't see it as much a priority as other areas right now. Smith has been a major bonus and has shown he's a more than capable deputy you can rely on.

So we should be set at FB at least for next year.

CH. Defo need at least quality signing here. Maybe two dependent on Sakho's health. Matip looks all but a done deal so there's a positive start. I'd anticipate Skrtel will be done the end of this season. And Kolo's defo not coming back. But Lovren has been a surprising turnaround under Klopp to at least be a solid 3rd/4th choice. And I wouldn't be surprised to see Joe Gomez really force his way up the pecking order next year if he returns with no after effects the injury. And who knows if Caulker reignites his career?

So one, maybe two new central defenders.

Midfield.

DM. Hopefully the new Serb is earmarked for that role rather than Can who just doesn't have the smarts. Wouldn't mind seeing another added, either starter or to split with Grujic and Lucas let go the summer. The likes of Brannigan, Rossiter and Stewart should be enough for deep depth and the cups. Allen will more than likely be gone.

BtB. Should be set there with Henderson backed up by Can. Probably keep Milner another year for his experience and to add to the depth.

AM. Hopefully Teixera will be added before the window to give a great looking interchanging three with Firmino, who ultimately will be in the 10 role; and Phil who we know has the ability. Ibe obviously is going nowhere as he continues to develop, no doubt Klopp will want a good look at Markovic, and hopefully Ojo pushes himself more. But another more proven winger would be a nice addition. If we do add Teixera, and are at a stage next year where the likes of Lallana are depth players the squad will be moving the right direction.

Possible DM starter. Wide depth along with maybe another playmaker depth wise.

Strikers.

I'll be shocked if either Benteke or Mario are here next year so we'll need at least one. This needs to be the real big splash to get a proven goalscorer who can lead the line. If Danny returns to full health brilliant. But we all know that's a big 'if' right now so we need at least one more of similar quality. Ings return will be a welcome boost and gives real good depth. With the hopefully continually improving Origi.

One definite marquee starter along with maybe another dependent on Sturridge.

So if (hopefully) Teixera arrives this window, along with Matip and Grujic to start the summer off; we add a quality goalkeeper and most importantly a top bracket striker and the whole personnel is looking a lot brighter. Maybe another DM and CB dependent on finances and who's out there and the squads looking a lot stronger. Then look to replace the likes of Milner and Lallana the windows after that.

Might not be as big a summer overhaul as it appears once he's got this first evaluation season out of the way.

Twitter going mad on Teixera. And his official instagram account was all over us earlier. Just a few:

BREAKING: According to SKY SPORTS Alex Teixeira wants to join #LFC, he has told Shakhtar. It's getting closer. #LFC

Numerous clubs have expressed interest in Teixeira according to reports. Teixera stating Liverpool is where he wants to go is excellent news

Teixeira has also said that Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva are his two best friends in football.

Apparently Teixeira wants a move to Liverpool because of Klopp. Exactly why Chelsea need to appoint the right manager for next season.

I'm telling you now the club will regret not going for Teixeira. He's going to tear this league apart. Klopp doing some top business.

As far as I'm aware Grujic isn't a DM he plays further forward.

Edit: And be carefull with Dave O'Connell. As far as I can see he is just a guy that relays information from anywhere. He constantly links 90min.com articles so I have my doubts about him.

Ta mate. Just picked some of the twitters I was looking at earlier.

Yeah, from what I can gather Grujic is more a box to box type. (Know as much as anyone else. What we've researched since we signed him.). Just seem's to have all the attributes to fit in alongside Hendo and be the sitting one. I really don't know about Can man. I mean he's got the potential that he's flashed with us. But he makes such boneheaded decisions most every game. It's alright storming forward but then his brain disconnects and he doesn't know what to do with it and loses it. That's even costlier when he's deeper. He'll be a big player for us down the line. Just seems to have a good ways to go if we had better options.

Really??? I've always considered this the strongest part of your team, nothing wrong here! (H)

Half competant/commanding goalkeeper and those numbers are halved... Probably 5-10 points more as well.

That stat yesterday of the last 45 games Klopp's managed a side they've conceded 21 goals fro set plays is utterly abysmal. Yeah, there's a lot of contributing factors with ourselves like the 'keeper and the height deficiency's, but we still should be doing far better as he himself openly acknowledges.

It was promising to see us at least dropping the zonal and getting back to man marking Sat'day. Didn't ultimately save goals, but it'a a start. They are at least trying different things to find a solution to this. I wonder how much of a difference Caulker back there would make in the air?

Hmmm, Clyne a big doubt for tomorrow.

Flanno to get the start if he can't go? Be a risk but a way better option than Randle the semi. Just don't see he's done his chances of sticking around much good at all the games he's had to play this year. Unlike Smith the other side who looks like he's ready to be part the first team squad going forward.

LMAO! Another instant Klopp classic on his new glasses .....

'Now I have to be careful. They're black and I look a little bit of a serial killer.'

Yeah, Flanagan i wouldn't worry too much about - Randall i don't think is or will be good enough for Liverpool
