That in itself is the most abhorrent thing imaginable. THAT'S what the owners of your club think of you as Liverpool fans.

'Customers.' They don't even hide behind it.

All whilst the man they hired to manage the team and take it forward is trying his level best to have the connection between team and fans back in full force as he realises we're the most important part of the club.

*Edit* Oh, and we're a 'storied franchise' too as per Fenways website. They seriously haven't got a ******* clue on the difference between English and American sports. But like Hicks and Gillete, they're about to find out. Let's see if like back then when the major sponsors get hit and bombarded they view us as 'customers.'

Lol. Just seeing we're currently winning the Youth Cup tie down at Forest and I unconsciously went 'Yes! Keep it going Redmen. Have these scab bastards!' ...... to which there's now probably a generation of Reds reading going 'Forest? But we don't even play Forest?'

Very surprised Flanno has been excluded from the Europa squad for Caulker.

Klopp knows what he needs like but that's a bit of a head scratcher.
 
What can you do, modern football is not a "people's game" anymore.

I still remember fans-board meeting at my local club here in the early 90s, when bunch of ultras ripped into the board for 30 minutes, because the tickets were more expensive than your average cinema ticket. And they lowered the prices down, and we've enjoyed the most rabid fanbase for well over a decade.

Nowadays the price is 2x of cinema ticket, 4x in some of the bigger clubs, and there's empty seats everywhere.

If you didn't make an acceptable offer to the club you can't blame the player for moving to side that has.
 
Can't blame people for wanting to make money, period. As much as footballers like to bullshit about passion for the game, playing for the fans, wanting to win trophies, at the end being a footballer is a job. You move where the money is.
 
So what happened to Teixeria moving to a higher profile league for a potential call for Brazil? Does playing in China actually nullify his chances or increase them?

I can blame the player for having little to no ambition though.

This doesn't have anything to do with him not moving to Liverpool (We chose not to pay it, Jiangsu have), it's the fact the player was suggesting the reason for the move was to gain international recognition and playing in the Premier League.

Just like Jackson Martinez, unless he moves quickly it's his career in terms of success on the pitch over.

As a player I would always want to try and improve myself and this move is purely financial. Let's be honest, moving to Liverpool, Chelsea or any other club, he wouldn't have been on a small salary would he?
 
I understand the move on Shakthar's side, that was the price and you never even came close to hitting it. Not sure I understand it on his side though. Someone would have triggered that in the summer.
 
That said, this isn't about the modern player, been happening for decades. China is just a different location offering the same historical thing.

26. Prime of your career. Desperate to break into the Brazil side for the next World Cup (quite possibly your last chance of that.). And you disappear into obscurity in China.

Nope, can't blame someone already on riches the majority can only dream about who would of increased those in Europe for chasing the new Chinese money. What a fantastic pro

Certainly from Shakthar's side it is a no-brainer, but it is such a strange decision from the player himself.

Nothing new from the last 40 years. Chasing the money won't make him any less a pro. Won't stop him playing for Brazil either.

I think our supporters union in particular has shown that if you stick together, you can do a lot. Just ask the previous owners and the major part we played in their demise. The concerted campaign against the sponsorship money makers, embarrassing Standard Chartered in particular, was just one example of that.

And we've seen more and more over the last few years supporters Country wide uniting for demo's as more and more get it ripped away from them every year by outright greed.

The new mega buck TV deal, allied to continued avarice against fans when there is absolutely no need or justification, may well be the straw that breaks the camels back in England.

Enough is ENOUGH.

Chasing money is nottin' new it's true.

Disappearing off the football landscape in a Country like China certainly is in the prime of your career. If he's not getting picked for Brazil in the Ukraine, good luck getting in in China, who are never going to rival what they think they will no matter how much money they pump into it.

Like you said, if this goes through, to Shaktar it's just a business transaction to what they wanted.

It puts the player though, and the likes of Martinez, in a whole other light. And not a good one IMHO.

Oh come on mate, there's no comparison there at all.

We're a long standing, major football player when it comes to club football.

China on the other hand .....


I'm not even bothered that we didn't get him. That's in part down to ourselves. In part down to dealing with the Ukrainians. That's now dead and I never expected us to be back in for him the summer. But I don't understand, outside of money being the overriding thing to him, why the player himself would want to in effect disappear off the footballing landscape in such an embryonic league. He'd of gotten his big European move the summer as you noted.
