This situation has exact parallels with Wiedenfeller, and so far he has done the same thing. whether than changes is one thing. But that contract will have been offered in genuine faith.

How dare you compare any goalkeeper to Mignolet. He's an insult to the profession.

Gutting disappointment at losing aside, did you all enjoy the final experience?

It was a good day, result a side.

Made friends with the fella sitting next to me and we're now facebook friends! Atmosphere was really good. Thought we completely out sung City on every front and would loved to have seen what we looked like when Coutinho tooked home.

The train was back was a ******* nightmare. Couldn't find a seat so had to stand like a muppet for over 3 hours because of delays while we were on the rail.

Player performance wise;

Mignolet - Cancer.

Milner - Useless **** who can't cross a ball, out of his depth at the club

Lallana - Managed to come on, hit the post from a yard out, get embarrassed by Yaya and then miss his pen.

Studge - Didn't turn up.

Origi - Our man of the match, and he didn't come on until the 80th minute. Surely he'll get a chance now, he's been fantastic from the bench in recent weeks.

Need some major signings for next season. Can't fault the players effort, I don't think any of them had their fingers up their arses, but some just aren't good enough to be at the club.

Glad you enjoyed it for the most part.

Yup, there was no comparison between the two ends. From the variety of our banners through the vocal. All the pyro when Phil equalised just topped it off.

Been amusing me reading people narking about the all but empty end when the players went up for the losers medals ..... only one thing to blame there. ******* Sky. If they weren't so busy trying to get in two live games, the game would of kicked off at a reasonable time and nobody would of been left screwed on the trains. We barely made ours and there were lads around me leaving through extra time as to try make their trains. Another example of how little consideration is given to the match going fan.

Yeah my cousin missed their 8pm train. I booked the 9.21pm one in case of pens!! But was there at 9 when another left so I just jumped on that with my cousin. This train was chocker though

So we're interested in... Leno, Fahrman, that Augsburg goalie, Gotze (apparently), a Polish Udinese midfielder (can't spell his name, begins with 'z'), and benteke turned down the chance to go to China in January and is getting the chop in the summer

Despite the result, a class day out.

It was just a shame none of our attacking players got into any rhythm... It seemed Man City were certainly there for the taking!

Yup. The transfer rumour mill is in overdrive today.

Good to hear. And it was/ they were. Honestly don't think there's that much difference between us for all the money City have spent. (Although Guardiola will doubtless go nuts this summer.). Hart and Kompany at the back. Toure when he can be arsed playing. Silva and Augero the other end. (Although that balances somewhat with Sturridge and the two Brazilians have the ability to be as effective as Silva with better players around them.). The rest is much of a muchness.

Gonna' be a big summer all around the league as there's not really one stand out side that's significantly better than anyone else.

Just happy we've a head start with a top class manager in place already who'll of had a season here and is used to English footie and what's needed.

Couldnt get tickets so ended up going to Yates' in Liverpool to watch it, was a great atmosphere in there to be fair although gutting at the end.

The whole Mignolet debate on that he "made up for the mistake" with some big saves really shouldnt be a debate. Making brilliant saves is great, but will never warrant making a mistake, it just shouldnt. There has been over 15 mistakes Mignolet has made thats cost us a goal in the last 2 years, and its beyond ridiculous now.

Cant help but think Moreno should be a winger, he's good enough doesnt he wing but cant defend to save his bollocks. My main problem with out team right now is out Midfield. Aside from Can no one in that midfield is good enough. (Centre mids that is)

Henderson has been total bollocks all season, and Milner just screams mediocre too. I've never known two midfielders who fail to create chances as much. Hopefully Sturridge can find some form again soon but willing to give him a good few weeks for that considering how long he's been out.

Lucas, Clyne and Can awesome!

Cant wait for the summer!

I managed to get tickets for the game tbh i really enjoyed it first away game and it was a final, thought the atmosphere was great just a major disappointment we didnt win made my 6 hour coach trip feel alot longer. Though tbh we were lucky to get to extra time they missed 2 sitters and then mig made to world class saves our only real chance was the goal. we seem to be getting in the habit of trying to score the perfect goal wish sometimes we would just get near the box and shot in stead of pass the ball from side to side and hoping to pass it in to the net. then the penalties were shocking i hate with a passion stuttering pens just why do it! the fact our captain wernt even in the 5 players to take one is a joke wheres there leadership in that.

I've always thought we have the base for a very good side - it's just we haven't been able to attract that top talent to take us further.

Hopefully the reputation Klopp carries will help that, but even if just our GK was strengthed this season we would be ridiculously better off - so we're not far off.

Matip alongside at least one of Ter Stegan, Gotze, Xhaka and some other surprises and we are in a good position

Tbh, that only came about because of a Mignolet mistake opening the game up - we had to push forward else we would have lost so there was always going to be space. The one in extra time from Aguero was the exception after a mic up defensively

Before the goal it seemed we were controlling the game quite well. We wasn't creating much but I wasn't particularly worried until their goal

You'll need more than that. A LOT of money coming in this season, and none of the clubs are going to sit on it. I think we had this exact same conversation last season.

As you say we might have been having the ball put we were doing nothing with it when city got the ball they pushed forward and looked dangerous. whenever they had a corner the majority of the time they managed to get there head on it whenever we get a corner were useless normally when teams get corners theres a feeling of we can get something from here but theres almost zero feeling with liverpool

Completely agree, we need much more quality than just a couple of players. This Liverpool squad needs an overhaul. We need to bring 6 or 7 really good players in. We're not strong at all accross the park at the moment.

i completely agree with this, just wondering how many of our starting 11 you would actually keep and is good enough because all i can think is clyne coutinho milner(for the experience) firmino sturridge and origi. the rest of the team arnt good enough. henderson thinks hes gerrard with the armband, personally think milner is a better captain. can isnt good enough he got the potential but will he live up to it? allen good on his day still not good enough. monero isnt a lb sakho is great on his day then error prone same with skrtel. kolo great player wish we had him 10 years ago though cant fault his effort

The priority's for the money/ real quality signings should start with a 'keeper and dominant midfielder. Either BTB or DM dependent on where Grujic is slated to play. Maybe a LB dependent on whether he thinks Flanno is good enough to start. Everything else at FB is set with Clyne among the leagues best on the right, and Smith making the major leap to show he's first team squad ready. Centre half is interesting. You could argue for another top bracket one alongside Matip. (Who also gives depth in the DM role.). But then how will Lucas develop there? And let's not forget the immense promise of Joe Gomez. Can't see Lovren going anywhere and he's improved to at least be reliable depth. I'd off load Sakho if he has a decent Euro's whilst the price is still high. Don't get the cult status with him at all. And I've already discounted Skrtel and Toure being here for next year. A quality DM who is also rangy is sorely needed as mentioned. But you throw in, hypothetically, say Gotze as a name, along with Grujic and A N Other, and the two Brazilians quite possibly then step up to the ability we know they have with better quality around them. Could do with another out and out striker, but Sturridge, Ings and the developing Origi, who's come on leaps and bounds under Klopp from the player who never looked like he'd make a footballer under Rodgers is a good mix.

I love the fact we have two signed, Matip and Grujic, with the returning Markovic hopefully like a completely new £20 million signing to give added attacking options. That's three right there. Add a quality 'keeper, commanding central midfielder, and A N Other along the lines of a Gotze and that's improved the first XI immeasurably. Then we'll see on out goings what depth we need to add. A situation where the likes of Lallana and Milner are solid back-ups would be a major step forward in personnel.

I also like that Klopp's savvy and won't over pay just because. If the quality's there he would, but he's far more about the right players that fit rather than just a name.
