Unfortunately we are just a mid table club currently.

Everyone knows we were once great, but we've finished 6th-8th in 6 of the past 7 seasons. Up to the players and Jurgen to change that!

I was never the best at maths but you consider that mid-table?

That's all well and good, it's very nice to see us at the top of a table (no matter how irrelevant it is) but maybe we should actually start to look to the future and focus less on the past. I don't think we need a random Sky Sports "Ultimate League" table to tell us we're one of the most successful teams in history.

If anything, this table highlights just how bad the last ten years have been. One top 4 finish in seven seasons. Couple that with very limited cup success and every season that we have been successful in the league has been at the expense of embarrassing cup performances.

Not trying to be negative, I just feel like promoting this and suggesting consistently finishing in the top 8 is somehow a magnificent achievement further feeds the trolls of clubs (i.e Manchester United) that have enjoyed a huge amount of their success in the past 25 years.

*Edit* Pulled the post as it seemed more relevant to your quoted one on the bus this morning than it does when I read it back this tea time.

I think Klopp needs to up our pressing game. How mad is this? LOL.

All it's missing is the Benny Hill theme haha.

When you keep hitting the offside trap on FIFA.

(Might not be your type of joke this scouse)

Also came on here to see if anything has been posted about Coutinho to PSG. Loads of rumours going around. I ******* called it.

Took me back to being the playground and a bunch of kids chasing after the ball haha.

Transfer thread mate. Personally, I'd happily flip him for Gotze. We know he's got World Class ability. But he's just not at the stage I think he should be after 3 and a half years and nearly 150 games. On his day he's brilliant but more often than not he goes missing in games he should be dominating. The biggest game of last season, the last game in Basle, comes instantly to mind when he completely disappeared. He should be dominating games like that. Not often we've seen Phil grab a game by the scruff of the neck ala Gerrard and completely run in like his talents suggest he should. But then he's always liable to stick one in the top bin so he's got unwavering crowd support.

I'd rather keep Coutinho than swap him for Gotze. Gotze scored the World Cup Final goal, yes, but does he change games consistently? If so, why is he on the bench at Bayern?

He was further along in his last season at Dortmund than he is today. That's unrealised potential, and I'd rather try to unlock Coutinho's - a player who has been with us for a couple of years and is a fan favourite - than buy someone who will demand double the wages and we have no idea what output we'd be getting since he hasn't played a full season in two or three years.

Both please.

Both please.

I think thats the most likely scenario if Gotze comes in. Can't see Phil being sold at all.

And I'd be as happy with that as I would be flipping the pair. If anyone can get the consistency oit of Coutinho to match his talents its the crazy German.

Hector speculation running wild with rumours of a bid submitted.

Trying not to get carried away .....

Friend send me a message about Sturridge putting house on sale with possibly a move to Arsenal happening. Anyone know anything about this?

I'd be initially shocked if he was for sale, then even more shocked if we were to sell to a major rival. And I may be wrong without making enquires, but I'm pretty sure he's still in a club house up Formby. We tend to rotate players round them.

No to answer your question. I know jack about that.

Yeah tried to look myself and found nothing. I was wondering as players usually break after they join Arsenal what would happen to Sturridge considering how many injuries he has had.

Happy Birthday ..... Us.

124 years ago today John Holding booted out the blue gypo's and formed what's still England's most successful football club.

Here's to the next 124 years of hopefully the same. (But I'll settle for Jonas Hector right now. :P.).

Leroy Sane would be so good! Left back is a priority though, Hector or Ricardo Rodriguez would be fantastic. Hector maybe better defensively, but Rodriguez has a wicked cross and is a set piece specialist, which is something we really don't have

Watched Hector in full games 8 times now (the last 4 from midfield the end of the season when they started integrating their new LB), and he's been pretty useful supporting the attack and putting in some great crosses. Typically German, he's very disciplined and picks and choses when he supports. But when he does, he's very comfortable on the ball and intelligent with it and I've yet to see him get caught out of position. And although not the free kick threat Rodriguez, he's whipped in some great inswinging corners from the right with his left which has been interesting to see.

Just want a FB that can just do their job and defend first and foremost yer know? We've got into a cycle, both sides, of a must have attacking FB and very few of them have been able to do the main thing. ****** defend.

Be nice to have both sides boxed off with solid defenders after Clyne's great first year.

Maybe defensive security behind him helps Coutinho flourish too like we know he can?

All would be good signings but Rodriguez is in advanced talks with Arsenal and I can't see Pool paying 40-60m for Sane. Plus Bayern are close to tying him down for a move for 2017. Hector should be one Liverpool are all over imo!

Rumours going on that Gibbs will be off to make way for Rodriguez and Liverpool interested.
