Rumours going on that Gibbs will be off to make way for Rodriguez and Liverpool interested.

Yeah, read that this AM. Not reading much into it. Chillwell is the only real solid British interest. Ironically from both clubs with Arsenal having a couple bids turned down already last season.

Would be good for both sides. Rodriguez to Arsenal and Gibbs to Pool

I quite like Gibbs as goes, but he's another one that's a converted winger and attack minded first. Far better than Moreno ever was, but seen him get caught out of position enough times too.

Plus he his injury record at times makes Sturridge look healthy!

Pass.

I really hope the Hector rumours are true. Karius, Matip and Hector already sorts out the defence before the transfer window officially opens and for around 10-15mil.

Karius
Clyne - Matip - Sakho/Lovren - Hector

Gives us a solid base. If we can then add some attacking talent in the likes of Dahoud, Sane, Gotze, Embolo, Mane ETC we're well set

Gibbs is actually better defensively than most people give him credit for and last time he was actually injured was in the 14/15 season. He just couldn't displace Monreal who was one of if not the best LB in league last season.

We've dropped interest in Chillwell as far as I know and actually could see Liverpool sign both him and Gibbs to compete for the spot as Chillwell is what 18 now and Gibbs is only 26 still and can actually play anywhere down the left so brings versatility. Lot also depends if you sell Moreno.

I wonder where Koeman going Everton leaves him? Be surprised if he's still at Southampton next year.

I was wondering also whats the situation with Gomez? Was impressed with him when I saw him, but was he injured or something? Matip will likely be one of bargains for the season.

Of the attacking list I think Mane and Embolo are the most likely for you and only real competition for Embolo is from RB Leibzig who are willing to pay the € 20mil asking price. I think Götze will be back to Dortmund and no way Bayern will let anyone get Sane in front of them, they are just willing him to spent another year at Schalke to develop and his RC kicks in next season.

Rumours of a mass exodus if Koeman leaves, but who knows... I think Mane will leave this summer either way.

Got ruled out for the season but will be back for pre-season. Was really looking a bright talent so him as a fourth CB option who can also cover full back could be vital.

Sane does seem the most unrealistic as with any 'wonderkid' the biggest clubs will be interested. Mane may be a decent option depending on the price and I would like Embolo but seems Leipzig are close to him.

Did his anterior cruciate whilst with the English U-21's. He was back working outside the last two weeks of the season and is working right through the summer so hopefully his knee will be strong enough to be full go come pre-season.

What about midfield for Liverpool? Know that you, City and Bayern were in for Xhaka when he joined us, but are there any other targets outside Dahoud, who I think Gladbach will defo keep as they already lost Xhaka. I read Hojbjerg is looking to leave Bayern after they signed Renato Sanchez and think he could be great for you.

Presume the first team squad will be running around 20/22 players next year.

No Europe lessons the need for any more depth and it should be the same XI the majority of games with not many midweeks/ full weeks to train and prepare between games.

Honestly, I wouldn't put much stock on many 'rumoured' targets. The three players he's bought so far nobody expected and they'll doubtless be more that throw the media completely off. But what they will be will be the right players for what he requires. If it's an established big name that fits like Gotze great. If it's someone we've never heard of, equally sound.

WAY more confidence in Klopp brining in players that he believes both fit and he can improve than his predecessors.

Only substantial central link has been to Dahoud... few rumours of Ignacio Camacho and Samuel Bastien but not much else.

Seems GK, CB, LB, Winger the main priorities for now and then we'll move on to others

One thing I wondered is that does Liverpool have as good background team to support him in acquiring players as he had at Dortmund?

Also even though it's just early days in the window I've been surprised by the lack of news regarding who will he sell from Liverpool? Only thing I've noticed was the PSG bid for Coutinho.

Watched Hector in full games 8 times now (the last 4 from midfield the end of the season when they started integrating their new LB), and he's been pretty useful supporting the attack and putting in some great crosses. Typically German, he's very disciplined and picks and choses when he supports. But when he does, he's very comfortable on the ball and intelligent with it and I've yet to see him get caught out of position. And although not the free kick threat Rodriguez, he's whipped in some great inswinging corners from the right with his left which has been interesting to see.

Just want a FB that can just do their job and defend first and foremost yer know? We've got into a cycle, both sides, of a must have attacking FB and very few of them have been able to do the main thing. ****** defend.

Be nice to have both sides boxed off with solid defenders after Clyne's great first year.

Maybe defensive security behind him helps Coutinho flourish too like we know he can?

All would be good signings but Rodriguez is in advanced talks with Arsenal and I can't see Pool paying 40-60m for Sane. Plus Bayern are close to tying him down for a move for 2017. Hector should be one Liverpool are all over imo!

Can't say I know a lot about how solid Rodriguez is defensively. He might be excellent or he might be very much an attacking outlet alone. Be a shame to see him join Arsenal, Monreal has done nothing wrong even if he's getting along. Hector is dependable by all reports so I'd be very happy if we signed him

I can't see Pool paying 40-60m for Sane.

Neither can I, which is why I was surprised to see we were interested. Pleasantly surprised though!

Meh, again, doesn't concern me at all. When moves happen, they'll happen. The media will write what they want.

They'll be quite a few departures by the time the season starts. And being as he has the final say on everything, I have no worries on acquisitions either. They'll either be right for us. Or he won't move and trust his abilities to coach up what he has. Ala the January window when we desperately needed bodies, not least defensively. But nobody was right for the long term so nobody was brought in for the sake of it outside of a short term emergency loan to help out.

Gone are the days of buying to fill out the squad with nothing better than what's here already. Just buying for buyings sake. Not worried about that any more at all.

You either improve things and fit or we sit pat and wait for someone that does.

Funny aside, to me at least, talking LB's .....

Can replaced Hector half-time of Germany's last pre-Euro's friendly yesterday and played the second half at left full back. Which was different. be interesting to see if he starts the tournament at RB as he has in the later qualifiers.

Guess it's an indication of how highly Low and co rate him to want to get him involved so early regardless of where they can fit him in.

He's actually played at left back before mate.

I don't know on this one. I felt he was hung out to dry after the final and I'm really sympathetic for him. Don't get me wrong, on the night I was ******* livid. But it's been a couple weeks now and I think everyone has had time to calm down a bit.

He's caught out of position a lot but the attacking mentality of our full backs is surely encouraged by Kloppo. I think who ever we get in will be just the same in attacking a lot and also being caught out at the back.

I wouldn't get rid of Moreno just yet. He's only 23 and definitely has the potential, I'd give him a season or two to show his worth. He needs to give 110% now to earn redemption from the Kop and he'll know it.

For Germany? There ya' go.

The way the German's play and how well drilled they are in their respective rolls he doesn't actually stick out as much at full back as they just slide across/ drop in and cover when he bombs forward.

No sorry, for Leverkusen under big Sami. Injury woes led Can to playing there for a few games if I remember correctly.

Plus it says on FM he can play there as well? :P
