He's actually played at left back before mate.

And it was one of the poorest performance you can imagine. Moyes team scored 5 goals and Can was atrocious on that day playing as LB.

Your comment could be taken seriously if he had only played left-back once.

That's the only time I saw him play at LB and he was poor. Would love to see him play as LB more often.

Yes. So you can't assume he's an atrocious left-back because he lost while playing for Leverkusen who were facing the defending english champions?

Just wondering why you'd like to see him play more at left-back? He's been pretty solid in his normal position in recent times.

Can is a poor RB and even poor LB, at least in the games I have seen. He is good in the midfield though and that's where he should be playing for his sake.

Why I like to see him as LB? For obvious reasons. He is not very good playing there and better as midfielder. So playing as LB means not playing in his best position.

Your post doesn't make sense. You've said he is a poor RB and even worse LB from the games you've seen, yet admitting you've only seen one game where he played their previously.

And yeah your second point makes great sense. Can't wait to see Vardy playing as an anchor man at some point, and when are Arsenal finally going to play Mertesacker as a false 9?

Your comprehension skills are below par then. I said I have seen him play as LB only once. I have seen him play as RB during Rodgers era, who will forget Blind twisting Can's ankle when we won 2-1 at Juanfield.

Your second points is nonsense. Can was comedy gold when he played as LB so I would love to see him play as LB.

...having a bad day mate?

Hey we don't see merts in training, he might give it the drop of the shoulder and all the back heels, rumour has it he can hit Rabona's for fun ;)

Posted this the Utd thread but it's equally as relevant here:

Part of an excellent piece from Ian Bland in the 'United We Stand' fanzine.

Needs heeding from from the cretins on both sides who continue to stoop to such low life levels if relations are to ever improve. Somethings as decent human beings just shouldn't need saying:

These are pathetic digs at overseas fans. EPL would be nothing if it had not globalized and tried to reach as wide a audience as possible from around the world. Sunil probably knows more about United than most of the United fans who have been 'born into it' as you guys like to say and I'd wager more about Liverpool than a few good ole' Scousers as well.

Is it really that difficult to refrain from such outright personal jibes when having a debate?

Fair enough. I understand your opinion now

Peoples stories behind 'their' club has always fascinated me.

I've never subscribed to the 'them and us' attitude that prevails among some of our support about out of towners, or worse, foreigners, in their eyes, taking tickets out of locals hands. Aside from the football club being a major World wide brand that couldn't survive on local interest alone in today's big business game, World wide support is a natural by product of all the success over the years. If someones taking the time and effort to regularly travel X amounts of miles, with all the personal and financiall sacrifices that entails, to follow my team on a regular basis I don't see how you can criticise that. (Day-trippers are a whole different subject.).

As many times as I hear the reason behind following Liverpool, which often blows me away, from the many friends not only around England, but Country's like Belgium, Scandinavia, France et all that you've made over the years through going the match; I always find it hard to imagine having to of made that choice on something that's just been a natural part of my life since the day I was born. Or at least since I first understand things.

As an aside, arbitrary cutting of posts is frustrating when the good ones get swept up in other peoples arguments and you lose chunks of a conversation.

One would be well advised to stay out of said utterly childish arguments.

To think this all started from Can playing at left back....

If thats what I'd personally done I wouldn't of even questioned it. (Like if you'd thought my asking of sunil to leave me out of his arguments with others was inflammatory in any way and nipped that in the bud before any response.).

The different conversation with Alcaraz, which he appreciated the clearing up of on the initial misunderstanding of my general musing how foreign it is for me personally to have to 'choose' a club, got swept up in the B/S of the last couple of days from other posters was the frustration.

Apparently PSG, one the worlds richest clubs, have offered 23 million for Coutinho...

April fools was a couple months ago lads..

You must be new here.

That £23 million per leg? Cheeky twats. They paid 50 for Sideshow Bob FFS!

Best scenario, as I still believe will happen at some point the window, is we add Gotze and someone like a Mane to take the pressure of Phil being 'the main man' all the time. That sort of rotation, with Bobby and Lallana in the attacking three, might make a World of difference and allow us to pick and chose when we play him to get the very best out of him.

Plus the 'bonus' if you can call it that, of having less games this year

Absolutey. As much as it's gonna' be a killer having no Euro trips to go on (come on L'pool announce the Mainz friendly already!), thats another major thing in the optimism for a serious challenge at the least next year. More work together on the training pitch with one of the beat coaches around having a full week more often than not to prepare. Should be a smaller squad too with the same team more or less most weeks with little midweek games inbetween.
