Fascinating read on the crazy *** German's previous pre-season's. Man if we hit the ground that much fitter than everyone else that will be huge. Particularly given the ***** of an opening 8 games we have.

Jurgen Klopp's previous pre-seasons, and what Liverpool can expect - This Is Anfield

No european football will help us hugely in that regard as well.

Will certainly be interesting to see where we are at come first game of the season. As you mentioned, with the fixtures it's not like we can afford to be slow starters

Not that easy, his sides are known for having quite a lot of injuries too. and you have some flimsy players.

Well, the positive from the first year in that regard was they got fitter and stronger the longer the year went on with less and less missing. Not least the 'flimsiest' of the lot who thanks to being managed properly in games and training has been fully healthy all of 2016.

This first pre-season will be vital for not only building them up for the season ahead, but setting down what's expected with the tone for the whole culture of the club going forward.

The most important signing we've made thus far for me is raiding Munich for their main fitness coach that Pep desperately wanted to take with him to City.

Something we've needed for many years.
well a lest he has the say who you sign not like b4 saying i want this guy only to have like 4 or 5 others saying hang lets have a vote and we will get back to you

You seen they've rejigged the members sales next year with an extra sale for locals? (Anyone with an L postcode.).

Still limited but it at least gives you a chance to maybe start building that card up matey.

I believe the SKY TV changes for the first 3 months are out today or tomorrow which will be useful.

So we're one of 16 category one ranked PL academy set-up's (Newcastle have replaced Hull) that have been invited to play in the revamped/ rebranded Johnstone's Paint Trophy. Now to be called the English Football League Trophy:

EFL Trophy: Format confirmed for 2016/17

In theory it's a good idea to give younger players competitive football to aid their development, being as the U-18/21 structure is so pitiful in England with so few games. But it's been badly thought out and planned for me and i don't see much benefit in entering. All the games are scheduled over International breaks, so you're losing your most promising players right there in youth Internationals/ anyone around the first team squad. It's OK having 6 of the XI having to be U'21 players. But when you can't pick anyone already registered the first team squad of 25 for the PL that negates older squad players who no longer get any substantial reserve games. So on the face of it you could well be left with U'18 players going up against hardened pro's 10 years older.

Good idea. Poor planning.

But at least it's an acknowledgement that the whole U-21 (reserve) structure is terrible in England and something seriously needs doing. Probably a pre-curser to PL clubs having B teams in the lower leagues in the future to give that competitive edge.
