No question. Starting the year with what we currently have at LB wouldn't be good to say the least.

Still only 16 days into the window mate and we've done more business than any of the other big 4/5 to press if you include Grujic who was in effect a signing this window.

Long time to go yet on both outgoings and incomings. Twitter is naturally loosing it's **** like with today's news on top of 'missing out' on Kante. Not sure how you 'miss out' on someone you never went in for like.
twitter is not the home of the sane

Oh yeah, certainly no time to panic - Others may disagree but Im quite happy the Zielinski and Chilwell deals may be falling through.

I think a better LB is needed and as good as he may be/become he seems an attacking midfielder - something we have plenty of!

Wouldn't disagree at all mate.

I'm made up we're not being held to ransom by Leicester over Chilwell. You could make a strong case if the potentials there that you get him in now rather than wait a years potential leap and Leicester suddenly want Luke Shaw money. But then that's also presuming they get him to sign a contract, which appears to not be happening at all right now. And there has to come a limit on what you pay for potential and £10 million for a kid with zero PL appearances is completely taking the ****.

As for Zielinski, that was a complete 'meh' to me either way. Not least because I've never seen him in an actual full game. But from highlights and what you read, we could do better. It was one of those 'meh, if Klopp wants him then fine as he obviously ticks what he wants. But if he's not in red next year, I certainly won't be down or ******.'

VERY happy with all our transactions thus far. It's been an excellent window to date and the new look, professional LFC at the negotiating table is brilliant to see. Still quite a bot of squad cutting and improvements to make, but things are shaping up nicely save for the Gomez and Sakho setbacks.

Yep. As good as Chilwell may be, he hasn't made a Premier League appearance and as you mention may not sign a new contract

I agree. I do like our business to date - I think we have strengthened well and done it at a low cost. I am personally just hoping for a few more first-team additions and we'll be well set with no European football.

Hopefully we don't be too strict with some of our valuations of current players. Benteke, for example, is unlikely to go for as high as 30mil in the future and for a player that will be scarcely used I hope there is a bit of common sense come the end of the window

Well there's no real chance of lacking positivity mate. After all isnt Klopp about to find a cure for cancer, zica and aids in one swoop?!

Dont forget Manunitus too ;)

As always, said with the caveat that this is pre-season, but that was another very good half of football.

First half observations:

Phil absolutely brilliant. Hitting the woodwork twice, the back healed meg of the lad to set up Mane was a highlight reel moment and then some. The reverse free kick hit with the wrong foot from the wrong side was reminiscent of Johnnie Barnes agains Arsenal back in '89. Except this one smacked the woodwork. Loving the understanding already between he, Firmino and Mane. Love that Mane doesn't mind playing wide and hitting the line either. Workrate not in question at all there again. Matip will be a serious threat in the air this season. Looking forward to him adding to his 1 in 10 goal record the Bundesliga. Ejaria hasn't looked out of place again. And Cam Brannigan just looks like he fits at this level every time you see him. Simplicity personified. Randall and Stewart on the other hand ..... WTF Karius was thinking letting the ball run under his foot across the 6 yard box **** only knows but a great recovery to keep it out. But he's quick off his line and dominating so it shouldn't go against him.

Just lack goals. Would be nice if Wigan put more effort in to give us a better physical workout but two different sides in two days I guess causes that disjointness.

Very interested now to see which two players get the full 90 minutes for the first time this season.

Only seen the second half but I have been really impressed with Joel Matip in every game i've seen him. Commanding at the back and composed enough to bring the ball out of defence and start attacks.

Ryan Kent has looked tricky each game, creating a few chances and linking up the play well and Woodburn for 16 looks a fantastic prospect.

Few others you could mention as well such as Danny Ings and Alexander-Arnold

Defo on Kent and Woodburn. Putting Markovic to shame each game. Massively expensive flop there.

Excellent goal from Ings. Reminiscent of the Tranmere gaol. Instant control and composed finish. Great movement from him all the time and his work rate as high as ever. Missed him last year. Boys own stuff from Woodburn. 2 in 2 for the 16 year old. Don't expect to see him at all this year but if he keeps on developing this rapidly, we could have one **** of a winger on our hands another couple of years down the line. Trent A-A done great again too. Brilliant ball from Kent for Woodburns goal. Be good for him to have a Championship or higher loan this term. Maybe Huddersfield where we know he'll play?

Great to see Matip and Karius, with another clean sheet, get 90 minutes under their belts.

Another very good afternoons work and another enjoyable game for a friendly.

Andddddd Matip goes off injured.

Kolo we never meant to release you. Honest.

Hopefully nothing serious. Yeah, been impressive each game but we know he's proven quality from Germany. Classy on the ball. Solid defensively. And a big threat the air. Good partnership being nailed down there with Lovren. Pity for Sakho but that's football. One mans misfortune is another's chance.

I wouldn't mind a move for Wijnaldum... I actually rate him and he shown glimpses last season in a very poor side.

Price is a little expensive but this summer has/will change prices of players completely

There's talk flying around they want Ojo on loan. Rafa can **** off with that!

Not sure how I feel on that one.

Liverpool have made a move for Georginio Wijnaldum, the Newcastle United midfielder, and are hoping a fee can be agreed this week.
Barrett talking out of his ****???. First of all where would he play, we already have so many attacking mids tripping over each other. Seems like a daft signing considering he isn't any better than what we already have.

Depends on Klopps thinking. With no European footy and Mane, Wijnaldum, Coutinho, Firmino, Lallana etc could be enough options.

Ragnar Klavern looks set to sign as well... 30 year old CB from Augsburg. No idea on him personally
