Who would be your ideal midfield target @Scouseinthehouse ? One thing we definitely need is bite in midfield. Way to many midfielders who are the samey in our squad. I'd love the Sadiki lad from Sunderland who had an excellent season and bullied Englands midfield the other day.
Him or Manu kone would be a good shout for you guys

Thats how you know I've been detached from any Liverpool news proper after the season we had. I didn't realise they done 100 greatest players for the club again. Ngl some of the listings are stupid af but any list that doesn't have Kenny as number 1 is not a list for me. I always maintain the King is the only person just as big as the club simply for what he has done for the city and club as a whole.

I always find these conversations difficult as I know all the legendary things Kenny did as both a player, and a manager, but he was before my time, so I have no real emotional connection to him. I grew up though idolising Gerrard and have the emotional connection there, so its one of those head vs heart things. Guess it shows the Era you grew up in as to which you pick between the two!

Michael Edwards has stepped down as FSG's CEO of football. He leaves with one year remaining on his contract.Owners unlikely to recruit a replacement with FSG president Mike Gordon set to resume control of running football operations.
Insert Mourinho meme If I speak im in big trouble...

All jokes aside, thank Fowler he is gone and his meddling ways can go with him too. Made out to be some kind of transfer guru when, truth be told, it was a whole recruitment organisation initiative, e.g Ian Graham and co. He can take his hit pieces with him as it showed what kind of man he really was: deflecting blame and painting whatever narrative it was to make him look good. Hughes will probably go to, but how much of his kid-in-a-candy-store failures was down to him or Edwards we will probably never know. I blame these two idiots more than Slot, who had to go regardless, but he was let down multiple times by their dithering. Edwards will forever be an example of the Peter principle in a nutshell. Just because you're good at one aspect of a role doesn't mean you will be good at others parts if promoted and eventually it will lead to incompetence across board.

All subjective to the individual like. And there’s no right or wrong answer.

Gerrard only just makes my top 5 so yanno’. 🤷‍♂️

I ask this every time you post it without a real answer, but what are these ‘hit pieces?’ 🤷‍♂️

Nunez one was the most high-profile one, and about a player who was currently playing for us at the time. Was incredibly crass and unprofessional. Won't get into the numerous Klopp ones, and it would be naive to think that Edwards, who has a history of feeding information to the main journalists at the club, didn't throw his toys out of the pram this season after the multi-club fiasco went down the bin. Regardless, Hogan has stepped in as he did at the end of the season just finished to get rid of Slot, and he has a track record for being decisive instead of dithering.

So again you can’t point to anything out of the club? Let alone from Edwards who had no personal contact with any journalist? Unless you can point to one saying something to the contrary? He was the proverbial mystery man that never had any contact with the media. Directly or indirectly.

I won’t ask again but it’s never good to just assume something like that without something concrete behind it.

You're being purposely obtuse and naive to think Edwards didn't feed journalists, especially the ones closest, considering the club runs a tight ship and nothing gets out. How do you think they get this information, especially someone like Ornstein who has reported multiple times on Liverpool news regarding Edwards-fed information? Is it concrete? No, it isn't, but then again, we are on the internet, and we can deduce, considering Edwards and Klopp didn't see eye to eye, hence him leaving the first time- and the articles that came out after painting the laptop nerd in a great light and Klopp as a megalomaniac.

At the end of the day, Edwards was good at the role he was in but got promoted beyond his means, and Van Dijk would elevate his CB partner; so did Klopp at the time with everything at Liverpool. We have been run bang average at best since he left, and hopefully Billy Hogan taking the reins again and whoever comes in as sporting director can steer the ship correctly again.

Again. What basis do you have anything comes from Edwards? Were told he’s had F all to do with the football club side since his return as his remit was funding a club for the multi club model.

Why not Gordon? Hughes? AM Other?

It’s frankly ridiculous to claim he’s been putting out ‘hit pieces’ for his own vanity.
