The Loss Of A Legend? - 04/07/09
View attachment 31200
There was a feeling of loss surrounding the Red half of Manchester today as Sir Alex Ferguson finally relinquished his role as manager of the illustrious club. He made an emotional statement in front of many reporters and explained why he had to leave. He stated that he had been “advised” by his Physician to reduce his work load or face potential health problems in the future. He tried to make light of the situation saying that he would of continued regardless, but Mrs Ferguson would leave him if he did so.
Alex Ferguson stated that although he was leaving as manager he will still be hanging around helping out the new manager and integrating him into Manchester United.
Ferguson carried on by saying that he had “enjoyed every second” of his Manchester United career, although sometimes it may not have looked like it. He went on to thank all the players that he has worked with and said it has been a “pleasure to meet so many individual characters“.
Many managers also commented on Fergie’s departure in press conferences all over Europe today… Arsene Wenger, once seen as Ferguson’s sworn enemy stated that it was a “sad day for football” and that Manchester United will “always see him as their favourite son“.
Jose Mourinho from Inter Milan said that “If I am considered the special one, Alex must be the ‘Fantastic’ one”. Steve Bruce said… “Alex was a father figure to so many people and his leaving is the “loss of a legend for the whole of football“. Harry Redknapp who has recently left Tottenham due to a money laundering scandal said… “Sir Alex will always be an inspiration to the football world. I’m pleased he will stay on at United in some capacity, I wish him well and the best semi-retirement has to offer“.
As Sir Alex got up to leave the press conference he was applauded by all the reporters and staff in the room. He then raised his hand to his face, wiped a tear from his eye, smiled and said “That’s all folk’s”

Manchester United held a press conference to welcome new manager Tobey Mason to the club today. Mason a rookie from the south of England has been prepped and groomed to follow on from Ferguson’s legacy. He worked under Sir Alex for about 7 months learning and consuming what had been taught.
Manchester United confirmed that maybe it wasn’t the most obvious of choices but that they want someone who knows the current squad and that knows the Red Devils setup inside out.
He was the winner of a contract in late January earlier this year after impressing the Man Utd board during his interview. His job roles then included, shadowing Fergie, communicating with backroom staff to get as much knowledge of how the club runs and touting potential transfers.
Mason said in his first interview… “This is a dream come true, for me to be sat here feels unreal. I know my performance and the teams will be under microscopic scrutiny as I am a relatively unknown manager but I will do all I can for this club. Thank you”

With Harry Redknapp banned from managing a football club for 18 months due to the scandal with money and the taxman, Manchester United manager Tobey Mason begged the board to offer him a contract, and after many long meetings they did.
Redknapp agreed to a 2 year contract which has been written up and includes these ‘rules’…
With these stipulations in place Redknapp was still eager to sign up with the Red Devils stating that he “desperately wanted to stay in the game“. He said that he “owes Man Utd a lot for having faith and trust in him“. It is a big risk and I won’t let the club down I will go out everyday and try my hardest for them.
Man Utd’s New Sponsors Pay Out Big Time - 15/07/09
With times of change happening within Man Utd it must feel like a renaissance for the fans. Things aren’t about to stop either as the Man Utd board informed the public that the clubs debt had been cleared, the Glaziers removed and a huge income (seasonal) would be in place for the next 10 years.
With a new TV channel (Beam©) owned by Donald Trump earning the rights to air the Man Utd games the seams to the clubs wallet could soon burst. Initially a £200 million pound deal which could rise depending on the number of trophies Man Utd win and if the contract is to be extended.
If that wasn’t enough, fashion design label ‘Dolce and Gabbana’ won the right to have their name on the clubs shirt. The fashion label even suggested that they might make some stylish threads dedicated to the club. The shirts themselves have also had a huge overhaul as the club looks to take them to the next level. Man Utd will now play in a striped home t-shirt which won in a live online internet poll.
Here are the kits….
