The Loss Of A Legend? - 04/07/09
View attachment 31200

There was a feeling of loss surrounding the Red half of Manchester today as Sir Alex Ferguson finally relinquished his role as manager of the illustrious club. He made an emotional statement in front of many reporters and explained why he had to leave. He stated that he had been “advised” by his Physician to reduce his work load or face potential health problems in the future. He tried to make light of the situation saying that he would of continued regardless, but Mrs Ferguson would leave him if he did so.

Alex Ferguson stated that although he was leaving as manager he will still be hanging around helping out the new manager and integrating him into Manchester United.

Ferguson carried on by saying that he had “enjoyed every second” of his Manchester United career, although sometimes it may not have looked like it. He went on to thank all the players that he has worked with and said it has been a “pleasure to meet so many individual characters“.

Many managers also commented on Fergie’s departure in press conferences all over Europe today… Arsene Wenger, once seen as Ferguson’s sworn enemy stated that it was a “sad day for football” and that Manchester United will “always see him as their favourite son“.

Jose Mourinho from Inter Milan said that “If I am considered the special one, Alex must be the ‘Fantastic’ one”. Steve Bruce said… “Alex was a father figure to so many people and his leaving is the “loss of a legend for the whole of football“. Harry Redknapp who has recently left Tottenham due to a money laundering scandal said… “Sir Alex will always be an inspiration to the football world. I’m pleased he will stay on at United in some capacity, I wish him well and the best semi-retirement has to offer“.

As Sir Alex got up to leave the press conference he was applauded by all the reporters and staff in the room. He then raised his hand to his face, wiped a tear from his eye, smiled and said “That’s all folk’s”

Rookie Manager Takes Reigns As Red Devils Chief- 07/07/09

View attachment 31202

Manchester United held a press conference to welcome new manager Tobey Mason to the club today. Mason a rookie from the south of England has been prepped and groomed to follow on from Ferguson’s legacy. He worked under Sir Alex for about 7 months learning and consuming what had been taught.

Manchester United confirmed that maybe it wasn’t the most obvious of choices but that they want someone who knows the current squad and that knows the Red Devils setup inside out.

He was the winner of a contract in late January earlier this year after impressing the Man Utd board during his interview. His job roles then included, shadowing Fergie, communicating with backroom staff to get as much knowledge of how the club runs and touting potential transfers.

Mason said in his first interview… “This is a dream come true, for me to be sat here feels unreal. I know my performance and the teams will be under microscopic scrutiny as I am a relatively unknown manager but I will do all I can for this club. Thank you”

Harry ‘Red’Knapp Joins United - 12/07/09

View attachment 31212

With Harry Redknapp banned from managing a football club for 18 months due to the scandal with money and the taxman, Manchester United manager Tobey Mason begged the board to offer him a contract, and after many long meetings they did.

Redknapp agreed to a 2 year contract which has been written up and includes these ‘rules’…

  • He will not be allowed to have any input over money issues, will be checked up on regularly and will attend bank screening security checks monthly.

  • He will coach and train Man Utd’s first team with Mason.

  • No longer has any input in meetings with the 20 Premier league managers.

  • No longer allowed any input over transfers, contracts or club costs.

With these stipulations in place Redknapp was still eager to sign up with the Red Devils stating that he “desperately wanted to stay in the game“. He said that he “owes Man Utd a lot for having faith and trust in him“. It is a big risk and I won’t let the club down I will go out everyday and try my hardest for them.

Man Utd’s New Sponsors Pay Out Big Time - 15/07/09

With times of change happening within Man Utd it must feel like a renaissance for the fans. Things aren’t about to stop either as the Man Utd board informed the public that the clubs debt had been cleared, the Glaziers removed and a huge income (seasonal) would be in place for the next 10 years.

With a new TV channel (Beam©) owned by Donald Trump earning the rights to air the Man Utd games the seams to the clubs wallet could soon burst. Initially a £200 million pound deal which could rise depending on the number of trophies Man Utd win and if the contract is to be extended.

If that wasn’t enough, fashion design label ‘Dolce and Gabbana’ won the right to have their name on the clubs shirt. The fashion label even suggested that they might make some stylish threads dedicated to the club. The shirts themselves have also had a huge overhaul as the club looks to take them to the next level. Man Utd will now play in a striped home t-shirt which won in a live online internet poll.

Here are the kits….

nice start something a bit different not sure about the 1st kit though:S but good luck anyway and i'll follow

Man Utd First Team
View attachment 31275

Tobey Mason will be rubbing his hands with glee as he prepares for Man Utd’s first pre-season fixture. He has a squad full of talent, including experienced players and youngsters. It is a perfect blend as the older players can use their experience to help the younger players break into the first team.

Ronaldo, Messi, Veloso, and Kaká will be Mason’s first choice midfielders as they have the power and skill to slice through opposition midfields and play the killer ball to a striker. They are also very gifted at scoring themselves. Veloso will sit deep and protect the back four while Messi and Ronaldo use the wings as their playground.

Evra, Ferdinand, Terry and Santon will make up the back four, Santon the young right back will have to step up quickly. Mason has said that “from his performances in training he has the potential to be a world class right back“. Terry and Ferdinand will act as two rocks at the back sweeping up any balls nearing their keepers goal.

Up front Dzeko will play with either Rooney, Agüero or Villa, so he can head the ball into their path so they can bury it into the opposition’s goal. James Beattie will be used as a super sub until he proves he can step up to the plate and play the full 90 minutes.

Marquinhos and Lodeiro two of the worlds most gifted youngsters will be trying to force their way into the first team. Kaká has stated that Marquinhos reminds him of a young Ronaldinho with all the tricks and stepovers he uses. Lodeiro a young Uruguayan international has also been praised by the Man Utd fans many often stating that they see him as a “future captain” because of his leadership qualities clearly visible on the pitch.

Mason has already stated that he will use a rotation system which will ensure all players that are fit play games. He said “ further on in the season I expect us to still be in all the competitions available, so rotation will play an important part in combating fatigue and burn out“.

Most of the first team players will tutor the under 18’s as they will benefit from the older players experience. Players such as Kaká, Ferdinand, Ronaldinho and Gerrard will train players like Verratti, Ananidze, Zezinho and Tolói.

Tactics
View attachment 31276

Man Utd manager Tobey Mason is set to experiment with the teams tactics as a good friend and fellow manager (Koflok) who manages abroad told him about this tactic.

It is an extremely attacking style of play with the players passing shorter and faster. It should suit the team as they can use their skill to outplay the opposition. It is a score more than your opponent can score setup.

Ronaldo will act as a playmaker as he can turn a game on its head with just one touch. He will be looking to get the ball to the target man who will be Dzeko. He should win headers with his commanding height and run riot in the opponents box.

Summer Transfers

18/07/09

James Beattie - Stoke - £6.25M
View attachment 31278

Mason made his first signing ever for Manchester United, one that has caused a widespread mixed reaction. Mason travelled to Stoke to tie up the deal himself, showing just how desperate he was to get his man. That man however was James Beattie.

Many fans were left scratching their heads wondering why a player of James Beattie calibre has been bought by a manager who thinks he can “Progress the club”. After securing Beattie’s signature both men were present at a crowded press conference.

The first question was the one everyone was itching to ask, “why” Mason had purchased a player that so many think won’t live up to the expectations the club asks for.

Mason calmly smiled and said “I have seen James Beattie play many times and admire his strength and determination. He has a lot of experience in the Premier League and his attributes will fit into our squad like a puzzle piece. Those who doubt James should give him time and let his performances on pitch help you decide how you feel about this transfer.

Another reporter asked Beattie if he thought he, himself could “make it work” at his new club.

Beattie said “Many of you will see me as an old man now, at the age of 31 years old I never thought I would get the chance to join an elite club like United. If people think I will just relax on the pitch or that my age will affect my performance I assure it won’t. This chance has made me feel about 21 again, it has given me a new lease of life and a second wind. Please just give me a chance to prove myself to you all”

22/07/09

Ashley Young - Aston Villa - £12.25M
View attachment 31279

At Man Utd’s training ground Carrington there was feverish excitement in the air. Reports were spreading that Tobey Mason was on the verge of a huge transfer. Many journalists had taken their places outside the gates waiting to see which footballing star would arrive. After about 40minutes of waiting they were finally treated to the sight of… Ashley Young exiting a blacked out windowed Mercedes. He ran straight out, shook Masons hand and then they both left and entered one of the complex buildings.

After an hour both men re-emerged from the building, Young holding a Man Utd home shirt with the number 11 on it. He addressed the crowd of Journalists and said that it was the “best day of his life”. He apologised for a speedy exit but said he had to tie up a few more loose ends and left in the Mercedes.

23/07/09

Francisco Femenia Fer - Hercules - £425k
View attachment 31280

Man Utd manager Tobey Mason has just secured a deal for young right Midfielder ‘Kiko’ Femenia. One definitely for the future as Mason stated that he Would be tutored by current first team
players and then got out on loan next season.

Interest in Femenia was high as Real Madrid were interested but Mason moved fast and got
His man.

Femenia said that he was “relishing the chance” to prove himself at such a big club. “Not many players my age get the chance to play for such a famous club I’m ecstatic.

lets not go down that road. if he wants to do a fantasy story, then he can. if you dont want to read it then you dont have to, but please dont leave a negative comment.

as long as he actually keeps the story going i have no problem.

Pre-Season - 2009

Manchester United will pick up the air-miles during Pre-Season, with two trips to Brazil already booked and with trips to America, Spain and Portugal the Red Devils could be burnt out before the season even kicks off. Mason has stated that he want’s his team to play a variety of different teams so he can evaluate his squad in different situations. He will give all of his players a health and spa break when they are back to fight fatigue and burnout.

Sporting CP 0 V 3 Man Utd - Marquinhos, Aguero (2)
View attachment 31290

Man Utd started Pre-Season in the best way possible with a mauling over Sporting CP at the Estádio José Alvalade. The home sides fans were hushed into a silence after just 16 minutes as Marquinhos dribbled past two Sporting defenders to score a placed shot. Sergio Agüero came on at half time to score the goals that ended the match.

22/07/09

Säo Paulo 1 V 2 Man Utd - Washington, Villa, Vidic
View attachment 31299

Ricardo Gomes pumped up the pressure on Man Utd manager Tobey Mason by saying that he wouldn’t let his team lie down and take a beating from the Red devils. His words rang true throughout the match as Säo Paulo dictated the play in both halves. A late Vidic header saved Man Utd’s blushes and gave them a lucky win.

24/07/09

L.A. Galaxy
0 V 1 Man Utd - Gerrard
View attachment 31296

With the trip to Los Angeles adding to the air miles Man Utd have earned recently, the players looked jaded. It took almost an hour to see a goal as Gerrard scored from 30 yards out to give Man Utd the win. The Home Depot Arena gave a thunderous applause to the Man Utd players as it’s the first time it’s played host to such a world class team.

27/07/09

Southampton 0 V 7 Man Utd - Marquinhos (4), Dzeko (2), Vidic
View attachment 31298

Back in Britain Man Utd were in scintillating form. Albeit against a lower league opponent. Man Utd looked rampant with Marquinhos and Dzeko playing extremely well together. The flick ons, dummies and tricks Marquinhos used were applauded by both sets of fans as everybody in Saint Mary’s appreciated his performance.

30/07/09

Palmeiras 0 V 4 Man Utd - Terry, Ronaldo, Gerrard, Edmílson (OG)
View attachment 31297

Man Utd played in South America for the second time in a month as Man Utd manager Tobey Mason accepted an invitation from new friend Muricy Ramalho. The Verdão never looked like they would threaten as a strong Man Utd side brushed them aside and earned their four goals.

01/07/09

Colchester 0 V 3 Man Utd - Terry, Messi, Ronaldo
View attachment 31295

Colchester’s Aidy Boothroyd said that his team never expected to win the match just enjoy a fantastic day. Lionel Messi scored the first goal which really ended the match for Colchester. John Terry scored a powerful header and Ronaldo a powerful freekick late on. Mason was all smiles enjoying every moment.

07/08/09

Valencia 4 V 4 Man Utd - Zigic (4), Kaká, Marquinhos, Terry, Dzeko
View attachment 31300

A match that oozed goals as neither defence could withstand the barrages of attacking play. Los Ches took the lead on two occasions but squandered the advantage to let Man Utd level the score… twice. The atmosphere in the Mestalla was razor sharp as both sets of fans had set their hearts on winning the match.

Overview

Man Utd remained unbeaten throughout the whole of Pre-Season a feat which impressed manager Tobey Mason. If they continue into the upcoming season with the form their in it should make for a thrilling campaign. The only concern would be that the club hasn’t played a “World class” team yet so Mason will need to take that into consideration.

Marquinhos has to be player of the month after scoring 6 goals in 7 matches. The attacking midfielder will be looked to as a star player and someone who can help Man Utd claim there fourth title in a row.

John Terry, Man Utd captain stated that he was “pleased” with how the team had played and was “proud that they won all their games even with having to travel so far“. Ferdinand added that he “felt the team had gelled and that everybody at the club was counting down the days to the new season“.
