The Manchester United Thread

yes but Davies is a striker whilst Scholes is a midfielder and usually the weakest attribute of most forwards is tackling however that is not the case for most midfielders, my point is tackling is a more integral part of a midfielders game than it is for a forward so I am not suprised by Davies stats

not entirely true, depends on what kind of midfielder you are. For many attacking midfielders, tackling is still the weakest part of their game

Scholes started his career as a striker to be fair.

Last year I had 3 exams on Saturdays. In Argentina (Don't know where Sanket lives) Uni schedules often (If not always) include Saturdays.

Inida. :) 99% sure unless he has gone out of country for studies.

26% - Dimitar Berbatov has played 575 minutes of a possible 2160 for #mufc since 1 March. He's not moaned once.

I know, but I wasn't expecting Indians to be interested in football, always thought of you as more of a cricket country.

Yeah you are correct. Most of Indians are Cricket fans, only small % which is growing very rapidly are football fans.

Thing is you will find many Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga fans too along with EPL.

Joel's question's answer is- Yes I do have a exam on saturday!
Sunil I do live in India and I am going to pune for exams and if I'm lucky I could go to Satara where I live by 4.30 local time and I guess the match starts at 5.10!

Most of our people don't care about football I'm like an oddball to them but some of my friends do support other teams! But my one friend supports Barca and I hate him for it because he is a glory hunter! I mean it seriously no body knows anything about the club's background and other's follow because their friend follows that team! I gave the book based on United to my friend to read and he said that I was an idiot to read sport based books!

By the way has anyone read Gary Neville's Autobiography and does anybody know anything about Paul Scholes's Autobiography?

Class of 92 vs Class of 11 - Part 4/7 DMF's Football World: Class of 92 vs Class of 2011 - Part 4/7 #MUFC

Any feedback/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks!

Hey good article! Can I ask you something; I created a thread on fm-base so people could talk about their team's youth players but it didn't had a great response; so can you tell me anything you know about our young players the ones which people like me haven't heard? You could tell what the coaching staff, the people think of them?

Any feedback on my piece?

With whom will you compare Scholes?

As usual our oldies are bit underrated in your blog.

****'s positioning was very good. Apart from that its good except Anderson is not 9/10 in creativity. Also why did you compare **** to Anderson? Completely different players. I mean roles.

Which thread?

Tell me which young players you have heard of. That would make job easier.

I wanted originally to compare Anderson with Scholes, but was informed by a few people (including Mike.) to use Cleverley instead. So I'll be comparing Scholes with Cleverley and Giggs with Welbeck in the final 2 parts. Considered doing Cole/Hernandez comparison but decided against it in the end.

I gave **** a 7/10 for his positioning which is high. Gave Anderson an 8 as he is better positionally offensively as well as defensively. **** was never really known for his offensive play and wasn't the best going forward - but Anderson began as an offensive player and has turned into a more rounded central midfielder, capable of doing both attacking and defending.

Starting to think I should have gone with my initial feeling of comparing Anderson and Scholes as both started their careers as more attacking players but transformed their game for one reason or another into more of a deep playmaker with a knack of scoring a few goals a season, while Cleverley and **** are more box-to-box (not saying they are, but are closer to it than Anderson and Scholes are).

Ah well, what's done is done.

Should have gone with your initial thoughts. Anderson spreads the play like Scholes while Cleverley is good at one twos. Anderson and Scholes would have been better comparison. But like you said what is done is done.

Compare Giggs and Young mate, as Welbeck is a forward. Compare Solskjaer and Hernandez, Welbeck and Cole or Yorke and the other with Rooney.

OR you can also go with partnerships, like Cole and Yorke Vs Rooney and Hernandez. Would make a good read as after all this is team game.

Comparing Giggs with Welbeck as both played as forwards/left wingers.. Comparing Young to Beckham as there is nobody else to compare with Becks.

May do the partnership thing, sounds like a good idea. Would have to do Cole/Cantona - Hernandez/Rooney as Cantona and Cole was the partnership in 95/96 which is the season I'm trying to base most of the team on. Will see when I get round to it though.
