The Manchester United Thread

And again, speaking of reporting inaccuracies, Daily Mail criticizes us for loaning Falcao, and lambasts the system (I'm not sure which club's fan the writer is, anyhow). In the same report, it asks, 'But what happens if United draw Monaco in the Champions League?'

My dear Daily Mail, please don't embarass yourself in your rush to criticize us, and atleast get your facts right. As you so underlined the fact so many times that we're supposedly suffering to sign players without Champions League, we're ****** not in the Champions League this season, and won't be drawn against Monaco.

Cheers >_>

A lot of journalists are a bunch of hypocrites. Last year, i saw articles on all major newspaper sites, condemning the Loan Army of Chelsea. This year, the tables have turned, and they state that Chelsea did so well to loan out players, because it gives them a chance to develop.
Same thing with United. They need big signings, after you got them, why did they spend so much on players they don't need?

Too many personal opinions, too little actual information.

I **** you not, sometimes i get more accurate info here, than on the news.

Daily Mail doesn't even hit the basic standards of journalism at times. I have spotted several simple spelling and grammatical errors in their articles over the years which points to incredibly shoddy editing. They tend to muddle up the facts and most of their writers are extremely biased and hypocritical. Although they do sometimes come up with fantastic articles once in a while but even those have become few and far between

Perhaps a better comparison would be how many players in the squad have come through United's Academy despite the big money spent in transfer market. That narrows down the list to Evans, Januzaj, Fletcher, Rafael, Wilson and Blackett which is still pretty impressive nonetheless considering at least two of them will be first choice (I think)

Yes, and at least the highlighted players dont count even with this yardstick as they were actually BOUGHT when young ...

Yes and the same people were criticising Everton/Martinez last year for having Lukaku, Dulofeu etc on loan which they thought was not fair. WTF?! If the loan system is in place, finding good players to loan to make your team better (and paying money for it!) only means that people like Martinez were ****** SHREWD!

As for the MONACO issue - even if we were in the CL and we could face them Falcao would not play I presume ... ?

People pay too much attention to the newspaper "experts" who are nothing of the sort imho. They are just two faced, sensationalising and idiotic. But rest assured that sports journalists in other countries are even worse.

For CL he could have played look at Courtois situation last season

Maybe. Maybe not. Even if they were bought when they were young, the primary credit for their development still goes to Manchester United

How the British press works, part 478

'Sir Alex Ferguson hosts Jose Mourinho, Manuel Pellegrini and Co at annual managers' meeting in Nyon... but Louis van Gaal misses out on gathering of elite' reads the headline on the Daily Mail website.

Oooh juicy, that's quite the zing for Van Gaal, to be ignored in a meeting of 'elite' managers. Especially when it was hosted by Ferguson, the man whose era of dominance he is now trying to replicate.

Apart from that Van Gaal couldn't have attended the event if he wanted to.

'The meet-up is often exclusive to bosses whose sides are in European competition this term, which would exclude Van Gaal.'

Still, we suppose that 'man doesn't attend meeting that did not apply to him' isn't as much of a story. Got to satisfy those SEO bods somehow.

They are clueless, british football journalism is lowest form of journalism absolute tosspots and turncoats. But yes there is a few decent ones but only a few.

One thing you have to miss about fergie was the way he constantly tooled the media abosloutey had them and you can see it now he's gone pretty much everything united in the media is negative.

It's funny how everything others said about our transfers are wrong. They said Di Maria was not wanted at Madrid, this is what Perez said .
We made the best offer that we could to Di Maria and he didn't accept it.
"Hence, we brought in James (Rodriguez), one of the best players at the World Cup and the Golden Boot award winner. Di Maria and all of those that have left have our gratitude and respect.
"A player that is under contract and leaves is because he wants to. Real has always respected contracts. Di Maria had financial requests that I considered legitimate but we couldn't satisfy them. I reiterate that we made him the best possible offer.

I don't understand why mata is the one being touted to be dropped IMHO it should be Rooney as I believe he's not as good as mata for no 10. Rooney is a great player don't get me wrong but I just don't understand why he should start as he hasn't been good enough for a few years now,it amazes me how he's always described as a no10 but he's never performed well enough consistently the best we got out of Rooney was, correct me if I'm wrong, the 09/10 season when he got 30 goals but apart from that he's just shown flashes of brilliance and honestly that not good enough for a world class player.

Giuseppe Rossi out for 5 months. Really gutted for the lad, a special talent ruined by injury.

Weird one with rooney the fact he's been made captain yet imo he isn't a better number 9 than falcao or rvp and mata is a better number 10. He always seems to rack up a good goal record nearly every season yet i have seen him have some stinkers more often than not since around 2012. He peaked in 2010 imo before that injury.

For me Rooney has always been like that. He often looks ridicolously poor, but when you look at his stats at the end of each year, his offensive output is always very respectable. I guess you could say he's the type of player that has invididual moments of brilliance in almost every game, but he's not really capable of staying near that level for 90 minutes.

Yeah he always grabs a goal or an assist even with a poor performance, overhead kick vs city comes to mind was quite poor that day and then did that. I'd love to have the wayne from 2007-2010 but imo he has lost that power and pace.

Now anyone correct me if i'm wrong but the last time i thought wayne had a top top performance was against west ham in 2011, he might have had one in the 2012 season so sorry if i have let a couple slip my mind.

The way I look at Rooney is if he is smiling after missing a shot he has an absolute stormer. Any other time he is just plain old wayne
