When I see Rooney constantly droping back and to the left, I know he is going to have a ****** game. Its pretty clear that when lacks confidence he always retreats to that comfort zone where he can pretend like he's doing something without taking any risks - there's little bit more space, a little less pressing, easy way to find a backpass - which is how it usually ends.

If we can sign Ronaldo next summer then our attack would be something else. Front 3 of Di Maria, Ronaldo, Falcao supported by Herrera, Blind and Mata (Mata Di Maria can swap positions).

Not sure if Pep and United would be a good fit... United's youth atm isn't the standards of Bayern or Barca.

I can't comment on the state of uniteds youth products because I don't know enough, but if what you say is the case then I would imagine LVG will be the man to address that. He had an effect at both the two other clubs you mentioned.

How many players did he promote from academy at Bayern? Just because he did at Barca doesn't mean that's what he loves to do or his philosophy. Pep spends as much as any big spending team.

Copied from twitter. I think instead of Januzaj Mata will play. Front four would be Di Maria, Falcao, Rooney, Mata with either Mata or Di Maria on wings.

Wishful thinking, pretty sure LVG will stick with 3-5-2 for a while yet as he hasn't had the best players suited to the system available.

Yeah wishful thinking. I'm just assuming we might switch to 4-3-3 as Van Gaal signed few players he liked.

Hope so, but who knows.

I only think 3-5-2 will ever be effective when we have 2 proper wing-back's playing and at least 2 CB's capable of passing and coming out well with the ball.

Also a midfielder who can dictate play, Blind has good passing range but not sure if he is one to have an impact on the game and then there is Herrera who is just more of a dynamic aggressive box to box type CM.

I think 433 is a real possibility in matches where LVG starts with a 352 but he sees it doesnt work. He seems to like versatile players (Rojo, Blind, Mata, ADM) and judging from Holland in the last WC I think thats what he wants to do ...

But yes, a decision seems to have been made that 352 will be our starting formation.
