The Manchester United Thread

His book has been all over the place lately. Don't really get the point of sport books anymore, by the time they come out all the interesting bits are already in the press.

....That's the point. It's called advertising.

What's more annoying is the fact sports stars have to try extra hard to be ******* horrible to everyone they've ever met in order to sell a book.. To me, that means they're a very dull and uninteresting person.

Agree in most cases, but I don't think Keane has to try to be horrible to people. :P

I know its supposed to be for promotion, I just don't see how it can possibly work. I'm not gonna go and buy the book when I know the press already milked everything that was interesting in it.

Also, Keane is many things, but dull and uninteresting he is not.

Keane's might one of a few intresting reads from footballers. He is psychotic and i love him.

Along with being a pretty vile human being

I'd try to not call him that, because it start the train of some absurd mental gymnastics that goes like this:

- Is this guy a ****? Yes.
- Would I want him on my home team? **** yes.
- Would I then defend him blindly and claim he is a brave person with a lion heart and great leader of men? Probably.

Aye he is a big personality but a total nutcase and not in a good way either. He makes Suarez look like an angel

Rumours are that Madrid are looking to try to sign DDG in January if Navas and Casillas don't pick up// There's no way we'll be selling, but anyhow.. Anyone know if de Gea signed a new deal, and if so, for how long?

I doubt DDG would go anyway, since he's an Atletico lad through and through. Unsure on the new deal though, I know when he signed it was a 4/5 year deal so I'd expect to see renewal talks soonish.

If Madrid offered big money and he wanted to go, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

De Gea is a fantastic shot stopper but I still think we could get a good replacement, even Begovic wouldn't be a bad shout.

**** money, United have plenty of it. GKs like De Gea are rare.

No thanks. De Gea is a high-quality 'keeper who can only get better with time. He's 23. He could be our shot-stopper for the next 10-12 years. Madrid can go and find someone else.

I said if Madrid wanted him, offered big money and he wanted to go, then it wouldn't be the end of the world.

If there is a lot of money on the table and the player wants to make that move in his career, realistically we can do little about it. Like the Ronaldo situation really.

This is just another headline for the tabloids. Assuming it is true, and he will leave (Again, seriously doubt that), my money is that you will go for Cech. I think it will be the other way around : Cech to Real, De Gea stays put.
God forbid I ever see Cech in a United shirt, or any other team in the EPL for that matter :D

FFS if this ever happened and we ended up with Begovic I would go arry carry! Wont happen anyway im sure De Gea has said he would never play for Madrid before in an interview at Athletico. Plus everything he has said lately indicates he is happy at UTD and his next goal is to become Spains No1. Guaranteed he will sign a new contract before start of next season.

Reality of the situation which I was pointing out is: -

IF player wants to leave to go to Madrid.

Madrid offers big money.

=

Our only real option is to sell him. Not saying he wants to or Madrid are interested (although I only thought it was a matter of time before they came knocking).

But I believe his girlfriend does still live in Spain so in some ways, this story would make sense.

However it doesn't worry me too much, as a keeper can be replaced.

His girlfriend has always said she will support him and does not mind travelling to England as she likes it here and is only short journey. De Gea would be hard to replace imo, not that many keepers his age and quality about atm that are available.
