The Manchester United Thread

Lets take a look at Chelsea's youngsters. Their is Nathan Ake who hasn't played beyond Chelsea U-21s in his life. Dominic Solanke who against hasn't played beyond Chelsea U-21s in his life. Ditto for Lewis Baker and Christensen

All 4 of the afromentioned players are nowhere near good enough to play regularly for Chelsea. They are literally in the first-team squad just to occupy spots and get the odd 5-10 minutes here or there before they will probably go out on loan next season. What good will it do to let them play against Sporting, an excellent team, and let them get thrashed?

All our high calibre talent such as Chalobah and Piazon are out on loan so they can play regularly at mid-table teams or Championship clubs and if they perform well, they will get their shot at the first-team like Courtois didn

Ah please stop. How will Ake, Christensen play beyond U21 if not given chances in dead rubber? Who said anything about playing regularly for Chelsea, they should be atleast good enough to start 1 or 2 meaningless games.

Regarding getting thrashed, I saw that post in Chelsea thread and didn't reply as I didn't want to. So 9 first team players and say 1 or 2 young players means Chelsea at home getting trashed against Sporting who missed many first team players? That's just an excuse.

Actually the likes of Ake have started games against championship/league one sides in the league cup which is about his level. They will not benefit in any way playing dead rubber against CL sides such as Sporting and getting thrashed. What they need for their development is to play regularly in important matches which they will get on loan. They haven't been sent on loan because the club doesn't think they are prepared just yet. Therefore, they have been mostly playing U-21 matches and training with the first-team as that's best for their development

Why just 1-2 youth players. If you really believe in giving youth a chance in the dead rubber then you should be okay with playing all 4 of them. And yes they will get thrashed because Ake and Christensen are defensive players who will now have to go up against a quality attack and Baker/Solanke will have to go up against a CL quality defense

Really you should watch Ake, Christensen and Solanke play. They are miles away from Chelsea quality and having their morale crushed in a tie against Sporting will only do more harm than good. Zouma is the only one who is ready and he is getting good minutes

There is no point in continuing this when you think playing 1 or 2 players results in demolition of Chelsea vs Sporting Lisbon who are without their first choice players and most importantly without Nani and that too when the game is played at Chelsea home.

Every min counts and playing in the first 11 proves that manager believes in young players which will provide massive boost for them.

Sporting, CL quality defense. Lol. ok. Full of excuses. Going by this logic Chelsea will never ever be ready to give any young player debut.

Yes their is no point continuing this discussion when you think that playing youngsters in a dead rubber will do any good at all. More likely they will get ripped apart considering that neither of them has played beyond U-21 level. Also Sporting may have a **** defense in the eyes of Costa/Hazard but Solanke and Baker will find it tough to break them down

So really, unless you can show that playing in a dead rubber against a good team before being benched for the next 3 months is anything more than a symbolic gesture 'oh look the manager believes in his players by putting them in a dead match and then benching them' then yes this argument is indeed meaningless

Also as I already told you, Chelsea usually send their high calibre talent out on loan and if they prove they are good enough then they get chances like Courtois. Don't completely ignore this point

Secondly, I rather see the manager playing the youngsters in important matches rather than dead rubber. That's what provides a boost for them but quite clearly, none of them except for Zouma are good enough

Anyways you miss the point that these youngsters were never in the first team squad to compete for the minutes. They were there mainly to train with the first team against world-class players. If they were good enough for the first team then they would be sent on loan to bridge gap staying consistent with the clubs policy as a whole

Also Chelsea and United are very different clubs. As soon as Chelsea stop winning trophies and get out of the CL then their sponsors will desert them and we simply cannot take the risk of playing youngsters and dropping points assuming these kids were good enough in the first place. We do not have a fanbase on par with United that allows us to finish 7th and still attract massive sponsorship deals

Good on LVG to bring youngsters through although that is definitely partly motivated by the fact that his players were getting injured at an alarming rate during one period

Maybe for the first time Injury news is looking decent for ManUtd

Rojo and Di Maria are back for Villa game.
Blind is back for boxing day game. But he won't play for 1 or 2 weeks as he won't be match fit
Then Shaw and Smalling are back on 28th. Hopefully we don't pick anymore new injuries.

Read an article today that Jones has taken it upon himself to start Yoga to help try avoid these niggling muscle injuries. And to improve his overall fitness. Also read we have signed or nearly signed Kevin Mendez young STR from same club as we got Varela from. Beat Barca,City,Madrid to his signature. Seen a few clips looks good talent suppose to be an Suarez/Aguero type player and LVG really wanted him.

That mental image is hilarious.

Hope he has a very good teacher though, as yoga can easily aggravate muscular injuries. Far too many people think of it as being completely risk free, despite the amount of stretching and potential strain involved.

Pff who needs teacher. He's just gonna watch Giggs' DVDs.

it is and its not cool we keep one of the best keepers in the in the world but only cos real are run by a **** iwant him to sign cos he wants to be here not cos he cant get a move to real its about time we told real to just **** off what are we there feeder club

Actually, it sounds more like Real's publicity ****. If it's true that de Gea doesn't want the move, then probably Real went into overdrive stating he did, but laid the blame on the agent, hence move not happening. Since Perez dislikes him too.. Madrid always getting the 'good publicity' ****?

Also, if de Gea wanted the move to Madrid to that extent, and his agent had a fallout with Real, he could just fire him.

Sounds more like it knowing Real. I have never believed or read or got the impression he wants to leave. Just Real being CNUTS really!
