The Manchester United Thread

Falcao was useless, yeah he didn't get any service but his touch and hold up play was worse than lower league striker. He has no pace at all, there were instances yesterday where he was ahead of the defender when the pass was played but he lost every single ball because he was out paced easily.

Rooney showed how a striker should play, he made runs and also held the ball well. Yes he lost the ball few times but he got behind the defenders easily and stretched the game.

Fellaini did well playing in the advanced role also Di Maria played well. His final ball was missing but his ability on the ball is on another level compared to our players. He dribbled and opened up space but shame about the final ball and.

Herrera was clear man of the match for me, his precision passing, work rate and contribution in attack is clear for everyone to see.

Also Interesting point on Fellaini.

LVG on Fellaini said:
We can always overcome the pressure with him and he scores goals also. I played him for the first time in the position he wants but I have not always got a position for him and that's my problem.

So Fellaini wants to play as striker?

Apparently Woody said in interview that Lvg won't be sacked if we finish outside the top 4 as Lvg has come in to change many aspects about the club at all levels. And he will see out his 3yr contract at utd. But also said he has full confidence in Lvg to win trophies and get us back were we belong. Think it was on MUTV. No way he's going end of season like some seem to think oddly enough.

Anyone who thinks he should go at end of season needs their head examined-seriously. It's just so incredibly stupid I can't think of any other words to describe it. Ludicrous. Some people forget a club needs stability-not immediate success. Fools.

I have the utmost confidence he will win trophies to be honest and I'm not even a Utd fan. And he will get the club back to where they belong. BUT it will be much harder than he could have imagined. This isn't a few years back when Man Utd could roflstomp clubs along the way as the table clearly demonstrates. If some people want him gone they don't deserve to be Manchester United fans. They are plastic.

Good post! Im sure some fans I have spoke to are on crack. Some I work with want LVG sacked and us to higher Carlo or Pep. So I say to them what guarantees things will be any better or they will make us certain for top 4. And all they say is well if they don't we will hire Mou or Klopp. Im sure if we start sacking managers every season no top managers will be keen on coming here, fearing if they don't make top 4 they will be out the door. Some fans thoughts are baffling tbh!

I am not even sure where this is coming from. You essentially make one strange assertion on how clubs need stability before insulting and abusing anyone and everyone who may have a different opinion. I don't necessarily agree or disagree with you because I don't know your rationale behind your views. Care to elaborate?

Nothing is guarenteed but most managers would get Top 4 if they had players such as Mata, Falcao, Rooney, Herrera, Blind, Di Maria and De Gea at their disposal. Sacking LVG doesn't necessarily mean no top manager would come. United is a big club, big wages and top players. Any manager with confidence in his own ability would come

I agree but sacking a manager every season if we don't make top 4 is idiotic! And will put managers off eventually. Sacking LVG is not the answer.

Probably not come across clearly as I've been awake over 24 hours and I'm cranky. The point I'm trying to get across, is that people expect too much too soon from a new manager. If they don't get the position they want, they seem to think the option is to get rid of the manager. Not all fans are like this obviously, there are those who rightfully give the new gaffer time to do what he needs to do etc. I've been having a look at FB (yeah I know), and there are some Utd fans who do actually want LVG to get the boot which is completely wrong.

Hope that clears it up bit more as I really don't have the energy to type any more

The goal was third Woody stated at the start of the season, if the objective of top 4 is not met and with the current way we are playing with no philosophy that matches what we expect at United, as well as considering how much money he had spent in the summer I don't see why we would stick with him when we didn't with Moyes.

Yes but he has said different since. And maybe realises sacking him is not the answer, which its not. Moyes was not getting results or performances.

True, results are most important and tbh I'm just in the middle atm as in I don't think we're playing well but don't think we should sack him either.

However if we miss out on top 4 I deem that as an unacceptable season and then I might think differently, but I'll judge come the end of the season.

I can't see how we can play much worse yet we're getting results, so that's a good thing, if we start to play even just a tad better then technically we should be fine.

Also LVG has more objectives than just reaching top 4. He also has to reform the club, training, youth etc. I don't think Moyes had to do that.

I accept that the performances have been woeful and no where near good enough! But for me this season is all about the results as we are rebuilding the team to get us back were we want to be. I think its just something were going to have to deal with the season just scraping results which will see us get back to the CL and possibly a FA Cup trophy in the bag. Like Hodgson said last night LVG 1st season is usually hit and miss the next he always delivers, which I think will be the case next season once he has his squad complete.

This is what some fans fail to realise also. Actually how much he is doing behind the scenes setting the club up for a great future and future success.
