The Manchester United Thread

When you have that much of the ball and only put it in the net once while only hitting a few on target you deserve to be beat.

We just had strikers who were afraid to shoot...That lack of cutting edge in attack was missed today...

If we had the van persie that was at liberty stadium last season, we would have won quite comfortably

RVP was atrocious, created good enough chances but he fluffed so many chances. Should be sold in the summer. Played decently, performance was good enough but unlucky with the deflected goal.

Either or for me Icardi is class and adding more goals to his game. But can be pain in the ****!

Icardi is poor than Hernandez when it comes to contributing outside the box. Pure poacher and we should stay well clear of him.

God we need a new RB our left side looks so more attacking/dynamic than our right!

We ****** need Rafael fit for a whole season. He's easily our best attacking RB, and can actually defend too (or atleast, has the pace to correct mistakes)

We need to drop RvP, and even Falcao, and try and give Wilson a run in the side. I still feel a 4-2-3-1 should be tried out - we may not have a dynamic B2B around, but a midfield of Blind and Herrera should still be decent enough for it, especially with Rooney in the hole dropping deep. We have excellent players on the wings in di Maria and Januzaj, plus Young seems to be in good form. Can't hurt to try it out.

But ****, too much of an over-reaction over here. Our recent style of play was worrying, but yesterday's game was the first time in many games that I actually liked us on the pitch. Shame RvP :\ RvP and Falcao should be gone in the summer. Get Cavani, Depay, a CM (Pogba? Gundogan? Strootman (doubtful)) and Hummels, and maybe an RB if we're getting rid of Rafael (I still hate this, on his day, Rafael is deadly, but due to injuries, those days are few and far between)

Wilson can destroy teams that defend with a high line, but I'm not sure if he would be that much better in this game.

And RVP gone full Torres. I can't really comprehend what's going on with him these last 2 years. Okay, he's aged a bit, had some injuries, maybe not as strong, a little slower. But he's a technical type of player, he shouldn't be aging as badly as he does. He used to score all those freak 1% chances that nobody else could, and now he can't even score the sitters. Back in a day if you gave him inch of space in the box you were already dead and buried, now its like he's not even trying.

Lvg clearly don't rate him enough to play consistently or stay injury free. Has been fit for a while but is now stuck playing for the reserves.

Watched the match twice since yesterday and we really did not play that bad tbh. A few things I noticed that were really bad and what cost us dearly. 1 Luke shaw had a bit of a mere defensively cost played his part in the first goal and nearly cost us a second, he just was not matching/ seeing the runs of KI coming between him and Rojo when crosses were coming in from the right happened numerous times and even his team mates were pulling him on it. 2 was Phil Jones I don't think he had any confidence in McNair which you could see a few times over covering and leaving a big space between him and Rojo which left a gapping hole for Shelvey to cross into for there first goal, which lead to Shaw part in it not matching the runs of KI. And attacking wise nearly all our play was killed down the right side by Tony V or Mc Nair turning back and playing backwards/ sideways. Add to that no movement or any look of RVP hitting the target. Cost us the game, very small details in a game our performance was not that bad. Also can't do a lot with a fluke deflected goal either.

First time I have seen him get sacked in my loads of games.. Like the AI would know it. :D

Jose on goals on Sunday. He is one quality guy. If he was your manager you would do anything he asks. Why we didn't go all out for him when fergie retired I'll never understand. Jose at United = trophies

And what did he win last year or gonna win this year for certain? LVG = Trophies.

Sorry but can we stop trying to sugercoat yesterday? We dropped 3 points from a team we should of beat and we were yet again poor. LVG should of made the Mata change much quicker and this isn't the first time his philosophy/tactics/substitutions have been more than questionable.

Chelsea ripped these apart, I don't understand how anyone can use the excuse of "this is a good swansea team", there is nothing in that team that stands out for me at all. A midfield of consisting of Shelvey and ****** Ki!!! Gimme a break.

We may of had a large amount of possession but we did little with it, didn't create enough good chances and the blame kisn't all on RVP as he didn't exactly have hardly any CCC opportunities, they were more like half chances.

Also I think we need to realise that we spent a shitload last summer and we're a bit of a laughing stock if we suddenly are happy with missing out on top 4 again another season.

Yet yesterday and many other games this season you could see the squad is still a mile off from being good enough with Chelsea or Manchester City, seriously our attack and defence both had parts to blame for costing us points yesterday. We were shambolic at the back at times and our attack was lacking serious cutting edge.

We did drop 3 points to Swansea but Swansea at home is no gimme by any stretch of the imagination. And RVP missed some sitters for him yesterday and did not even hit the target. But im not surprised as its clear he may final be past his best and maybe not happy with his contract situation. Money and bringing in players does not guarantee success and cant expect everything to be running smoothly we have had 3 different managers in the last 3 years and seen a lot of changes through the club in various ways in the last 3 yrs we need consistency, which thank god the people at the club are gonna give LVG time. And yes the squad is behind Chelsea and City but we was never gonna fix our squad in 2 windows.

Even if we don't consider the big money players we bought last summer, our other high earners simply don't do enough in games, take Rooney for example, last few matches he's been as poor as anything and tbh I don't think he's done much of anything all season but let him off slightly cos he's been forced in midfield for most.

I can honestly say I couldn't pick out one player yesterday who I thought performed well, Ashley Young made a difference and definitely was our better attacking player. Fellaini held up the ball well, Rojo was his aggressive determined self.... but seriously we're United, you expect so much more than what we offered yesterday. The needless possession where we recycle it endlessly doesn't do anything for me, it may look good at the end of the game for statistics but that's about it.

P.S. Valencia took on his man more than one time, that's one slight positive.

Not commenting about LvG, but there was no way Mourinho would have turned us down had we approached him when Fergie announced his retirement. Heck, he probably was as shocked as anyone that Moyes got the nod above him. Him coming back to Chelsea, while still strong chances, was far from 100% considering how he had left.

I think that incident with Tito Vilonova ruined his chances. I recall reading somewhere that Fergie had a discussion with Sir Bobby Charlton, and apparently it was decided that due to his 'antics' and his 'journeyman career', he wasn't a viable candidate.

Just seen RVP left in a cast yesterday. Don't like seeing players injured, but he has been poor for 2 seasons now imo and should be gone. I can understand why fans and myself included are frustrated after games. But i can also see many reasons why things are not quite working atm and really don't get all this sack LVG rubbish tbh, not saying you have said this but many have. And will only be another step back and push on the reset button if the fans got there way and he was.

Mou has said all along that he wanted to go back to Chelsea. Roman was always going to let him come back no matter how things were left. And i recall many many fans saying they would hate Mou for the exact reasons you have stated. The only real candidate imo after LVG goes at the end of his contract is Pep.
