c'mon Mike when we are talking this amount of money anyone is possible, especially with United being practically zero spend. If you had moved earlier anything would be possible because United are one of those special clubs. What I am saying waiting the day before deadline is poor. And also all this talk about waiting for Monaco to go out of the Champions League what happened if they stayed in then?

Then we would have no forward. And Hernandez would still be here.

£36m is a lot but also not a lot in the grand scheme of things.

Bayern resisted 80m euros for Muller.

KDB went for 80m euros rising to 88m

Lacazette and Griezmann don't want to leave yet

Benzema doesn't want to leave at all.

There aren't that many out there. And yep, it took a couple of weeks for LVG to realize we need to score in this game and these weeks turned out to be a bit costly for us.

I couldn't care less to be honest. I wish you'd pay more for him but most oppo fans are simply stating that £36m is a lot of money for him (Which is true). There's no harm in that surely?

I don't think anyone cares if an opposition club get's raped over a fee. It's more funny than anything else.

But as regards your own club, it's all relative regardless of how much you have at your disposal or not. You still don't want to be paying anymore than you have to and maybe have a knock-on effect down the line with someone else.

Football's ALL about finances now so every little matters.

Honestly I'd rather take this approach than do a Wenger and sign no one because he thinks prices are inflated. Which they are, but if this works out, just like the Shaw deal, no one ever remembers a fee.

Plus with our net spend and cleared wages, spending £50m (we'll say just for convenience) this summer, is still below what we'd normally expect to spend in the modern market in one season.

£36m is definitely not having a knock-on this summer with United cutting the wage bill by a million quid a week. That doesn't even account for the Adidas deal, TV money or the CL

Football is a business, in tandem with how well you team plays and looks on the pitch, you still dont like yourteam to appear stupid business wise to others, so an interest on who's spending what is bound to happen.

We got a steal, they overpaid etc.. its all how your team appear against the others, on pitch and off. It also gives you an indication of how the market is going in reference to how your coming bids will increase. IMO anyway.
