MASSIVE European game tonight huh?

CAN'T afford to lose. Ideally need the home win, but a draw wouldn't be the end of the World by any means given how tight this group is and the next game at home. (Provided it's not any higher than 1-1.). Just can't get beat.

Really wouldn't like to call it either. Utd got an excellent point in Moscow after falling behind. But the Russians showed enough on the counter to suggest that pace will give them a good chance away.

This whole group is up in the air.

Ya. I mean, technically speaking, I think the advantage should be arms straight, not wide. But the thing is, its actually kind of hard to coordinate when you're sprinting at full speed. Your arms naturally go out wide.

Similarily, I moonlighted as a linesman at semi-amateur league couple of times, and thank the Jesus this was before YouTube days, because I sure as **** would become a star of a viral video. The moment you try to sprint down the line, your arm goes up and of course so does the flag. It actually takes quite a bit of effort and focus to keep it in correct position. These people don't get enough credit for their work.

I did. Twice. He uses standard hand wave used to signal the advantage. They picked such a dramatic looking signal so players don't miss it.

You're having a bit of confirmation bias here. I guarantee you, the idea that he's celebrating wouldn't even cross your mind, if it wasn't in the video title, which makes you sub-consciously look for sings of celebrating.

Think about it. Even Mike Dean isn't that dumb to openly celebrate a goal on a pitch with 16 cameras capable of capturing Full HD footage of his nose hair.

I see where you're coming from, but why the **** was he shaking his fist like someone who is peeing into an electric socket?
At the end of the video, against United, he seems clearly disappointed when the Spurs player lost the ball.

Anyway, maybe I just overreacted.

For tonight, I would predit a 'DDG - Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Rojo - Schweini, Schneiderlin, Herrera - Martial, Young, Rooney' starting eleven and a ... wait for it ... 4-0 victory for United.

Draw means probably needing to win away at Wolfsburg. That, and PSV away are/were the two most likely losses (though I feel we should have drawn away to PSV).

Win this game, and United likely top the group into the KOs.

All the teams have won home games except CSKA vs ManUtd.

Next we will play against Wolfsburg away which is hard to get any point. Dropping points at home means we will end up in Europa or 4th place.

If we drew 1-1 and PSV win at home then table would be
PSV - 6
Wolfsburg - 6
ManUtd 5
CSKA 5

Ignoring match day 5, going to match day 6.
ManUtd play wolfsburg away which might end up with 0 points. PSV at home to CSKA = 3 points

Wolfsburg - 9
ManUtd 5
CSKA - 5

In the match day 5, even if we get 3 points vs PSV we might fall short. So it's very important to win home games.

I once cheered "my" team when they scored while being a linesman, I simply forgot my place. Got a few nasty stares.

Nobody disputes it's not important to win your home games. But it doesn't change the fact a draw (provided it's not more than 1-1); isn't a disastrous result and still keeps qualification well alive.

You are not getting the point. Draw means our qualification is as good as out of our hands as we have to "MUST WIN" vs Wolfsburg away from home.

Not sure why, have a good feeling about this game. With Schneiderlin out, maybe Herrera will play next to Schweinsteiger, Rooney as 10 with Martial leading the line, Young and Mata on wings.

Finally Van Gaal acknowledged that we didn't create enough chances, hopefully he will go for a kill this game.

Because Rooney is so slow these days. I know he played most games on the left. That is a gilt edged chance. If it's out by inches then you Thor your body at it. Once the keeper is off line even the smallest deviations puts it past him

I wasnt counting but didnt he play like 19 times or summat? And I distinctly remember him always at cb. For FM related reasons too weird to go through here for the past 3 seasons I show a particular interest about Monaco ...

he's played 2 seasons there, he was mostly a wide forward. transfermarkt says he played CF 44 times in 70 games but thats definitely wrong
