The Manchester United Thread

Does anyone believe LVG's job is on the line with the Liverpool result? It should be but honestly I think we haven't got the balls to make a decision or else it would of been done a while ago.

Don't start that you!

We don't want to be responsible for you losing one of the best things (in our opinion but certainly not many if any of your own fans haha) to happen to Utd in decades!

That would be a bitter sweet victory to say the least.

Van Gaal must stay! *Grins.

Let's see now...if we lose to Liverpool, we'll be level with Liverpool on the table...that alone warrants a boot up his ***...

You should be posting that every day just in case someone missed it the other 9 times you have already posted.

Exactly. Thanks to Moyes and Van Gaal we are worried about midtable clubs like Liverpool.

LVG will probably go back to his old ways after watching that Newcastle game so probably a super snooze fest of a match vs Liverpool, hope not though.

If we take the game to them like as we did against Newcastle it will be exciting and I don't really see how we can't score at least 3 with their CB's and goalie. But we'll most likely concede just as many if not more.

Trying to play? lol.

Shouldn't you be praying for United win so that it keeps Van Gaal job safe for few more weeks?

Nah. As zz said, if he was going he'd be gone by now.

He's good to take yers down the table for the rest of this year at least.

Our options aren't any better either.

All CBs injured (Except first choice) and LB injured means our best RB plays as LB and winger plays as RB. That itself unsettles the defense. Then Carrick and Schweinsteiger both are injured, which means Fellaini will start in midfield and he has 0 awareness tactically.

I would say we will play safe game by retaining possession and push higher up the pitch which will be playing into Liverpool's hands. We should be doing what Pep did playing Dortmund. He played Martinez as striker to hoof the ball, we should play Fellaini as AM to support Rooney.

You think Liverpool have an impenetrable defence or something?

Their high pressing game will leave even more gaps for united to exploit on the counter.

Chelsea fans around these parts had the same misguided attitude earlier this year too.

Their worst start in years, all the drama with medic staff, players and all that nonsense. Still only 7 points behind Liverpool. So, yes they are correct. They have fallen behind but still that doesn't make other teams better.

Charlie Austin signed for Southampton for just 4 million. Good deal that, should have gone for him as back up striker to Rooney. Maybe it's very very short termish deal but right now we lack back up to Rooney as Martial is playing on wings.

Also rumors Berahino might move this window, good player but too many question marks on his attitude. I think he will be a good signing for whoever signs him. His ambition is lot bigger than WBA's whose sole intention is to stay in PL.

7 points. 10 points. Who's counting when your looking up?

Though with the logic that one is midtable, I can see why that would be a massive 3 point swing.

7 or 10 points, point still stand. Chelsea's horrible season doesn't make other teams better. They are all just poor teams including ManUtd. Just one team is lesser **** than others.

Oh, of that there's no debate. This league is utter wank from top to bottom. It's been refreshing to see so many of the smaller sides attacking and going for wins. From that standpoint the excitement is certainly back the BPL.

But the overall standard has fallen dramatically. The last few years have been bad but this season has been terrible. The fact both L'pool and Utd aren't double figures outside the top 4 as they should be at this stage says it all about the poor quality of this seasons Premier League.

United went on a terrible run and still within touching distance of top 4.

At one point Man Utd didn't win a single game in 6 games, just 3 wins in 12 games but still only 2 points outside top 4. Also even with this terrible run, Liverpool gained only 1 point on United.

Didn't part of getting into this current mess and especially stemming from Fergie's final few years be from having signed so many average players and having to get rid of them in the years post Fergie which LVG has done well in that aspect tbf. Honestly if we buy now it should be for quality only or long-term projects like Martial and Shaw who you know can get to that top level.

Players like Charlie Austin should not be even a target for a club like United, so I don't know why you'd ever even want him. Unless it's a sign of the times that all fans expectations have got lower from what to expect from the club which I guess is understandable.
