The Manchester United Thread

Times like this, i just wonder where we would be if fergie managed this same squad.

I bet we would've been sitting pretty comfortably at the top of the table with other team dropping points left, right, center.

in what way?

De Gea >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mignolet No question.
Darmian >Clyne That's a wash.
Smalling > Sakho Smalling I'd have in. But he's far from the plaudits he got early this season in here. Take away the two midfield deep protection (cue Sun to dispute that) and he's back to looking good-average.
Blind> Lovren Sakho or Lovren, the way he's performed under Klopp, you'd have over Blind. And Gomez over any of them if he returns to no ill effects after injury.
Shaw>Moreno No question there.
Rooney>Benteke That would be better Firmino. And no you wouldn't in that two. Or even if you said up front, no, you wouldn't over Sturridge.
Martial> Ibe Being as he's their best centre forward, that would be better Sturridge. Again, no you wouldn't. on the left of a three, bit of a wash with Coutinho. Happy with either,
Mata > Who even pays on the right? Milner We're all over positional wise here. If he was out the right, probably. I like him even without the pace.
Schneiderlin=Lucas possiblyI'd probably side with Schneiderlin given he's more rangy than Lucas.
Henderson>Schweinsteiger its close Behave. The German has no legs any more.
Firmino >>>>Fellaini Herrera surely?

As you said it's all fantasy and superfluous opinion but there's pluses and negatives for whomever you'd pick. Utd have some glaring holes. As do we. Not just in depth, but in the starting slots. Both squads are pretty darn average right now IMHO.

If that were the case, they wouldn't have dished out that kind of money to sign anthony martial

You really make it sound like they have dished deep into their pockets to do this.... it's the clubs money.... you really think the Glazers give anything to this club?

This is not like Man City where the owner helps fund the club or Chelsea for that matter in the early days especially under Roman.

United spends its own money, the Glazers only take from it, simples.

Quite possibly. But that's as much down to the **** poor state of the league as anything.

I just remember how tough life was post-busby when he hired and fired several head coaches, trying to find the right replacement before we finally found fergie

Mcguiness
O'farell
Docherty
Sexton
Atkinson...

I feel like we're going through a similar situation...and giggs could probably end up like mcguiness...hopefully that doesn't mean we're getting relegated anytime soon!

Sorry I just cannot take you seriously anymore

Oh, I thought this was about opinion.

I don't realise you were the only one that was right. Now I get it.

Not a problem.

yeah because that is what was written, but it is ok please do keep inferring my meaning from my posts.

I cannot take you seriously because you are revising what I have posted to better suit your point which is what I was getting at so no, I am not saying I am the only one who was right. But think what you like I have better things to do.

Major shareholders taking out dividends, them *****. Also what do you want them to do? Run football side by themselves?

They took over, increased ManUtd revenues to new heights and allowing manager to spend as much as he wants and all these by following FFP.

They know how to sell the brand and they are doing it to bring more revenue. Fergie has said many times and even Gill that how Glazers never interfere with any decisions related to footballing side and how there wasn't any restrictions on them when it came to transfer money.

Also from how Van Gaal is working, I don't have any doubts about how they operate.

More genius by yours truly...
Ed Woodward talked Van Gaal out of resigning twice over the christmas period [times, james ducker]

CEO having patience with manager or taking his time to find suitable replacements. What an idiot.

With Van Gaal all but gone, who do you think will replace him?(either Giggs interim till summer or instant switch?)Also, what would his United look like and who would he/should he buy/sell?I personally would have loved Carlo coming to the club, great motivator and he would have set us up in a 4-4-2 like the old days and how Ranieri is playing with Leicester right now but..that train has already gone ):

My ideal choice (with all things considered) would be hiring Jose straight away and let him decide on the squad before the summer.

It would seem a strange and late move for now? Get new manager after transfer window into team who still basicly challenges for top4.
He would be good choice as he can shake things up. But cant see him only 4 months manager. He wants long contract.

Sunil, are you seriously defending the Glazers?

I'm saying they get way more **** than they deserve and I have backed my points with factual data and that is recorded, like how much commercial aspect was stalled and how it shot up once they took over.

Rather glazers than Qataris.

Yeah, long term but appointing him now gives him time to access his squad.

You are utterly deluded.

They've done a fantastic job in terms of commercial deals, but that money goes towards the humongous debt they have straddled your club with. Once that debt is paid off I'm sure they'll find a way to funnel your profits into their pockets. United are already paying them a £15m a year dividend despite making a loss every year.

You are clueless as usual.

Can't be bothered to argue with you over the Glazers anymore, the fact that you're defending them baffles me.

Van Gaal should of been sacked after the Norwich game, every point we have lost since is because of the board hasn't acted. Oh and the only two managers that will we have a chance of getting are the same two who are available now, Giggs and Mourinho, but it will most likely be Giggs until end of season at least.
