The Manchester United Thread

If we're saying Mourinho or Pellegrini it's an absolute no contest. Going for Pellegrini in this situation would be stupidity.

If we miss out on Jose then good bye to challenging for league title in the near future.

Spot on. Thank the lord, was questioning whether I was even in a forum of United fans before you came along.

I'm not a big fan of Mourinho coming to United but now it makes more sense and definitely if it's between him or Pellegrini.

Yeah, even I wanted Pep but when you don't get the best you have to get the best among the gettable ones.

People going on about long term are forgetting without short term success there is no long term. Players won't stick with the club that is not winning or challenging. They all want to move on.

So if we take Pep / Pel and Mou out, who would you guys realistically want to go for?

I honestly have no idea.... because he is a nice bloke? That's all I can think of.

Can't say he is a bad manager though mate, cause he is pretty decent ;)

Hes still a lot younger than Ferguson when he retired haha

I'd take many over LVG, just detest the style of football we play under him. For me it would be Pochettino, fits the United traditions, plays the right way and is great with young players.

Exactly, Mourinho everywhere he has been has given some short-term success and it would at least help us in the meantime to build some kind of platform for a manager after him to come in to rather than verging on more of a rebuild job like after Moyes or at this rate, under LVG, with the way we are playing and how he plays players out of positions etc.

You must renounce your fandom immediately young man.
That Man is the manager of a different football team to ours, AND they reside in close proximity. He is not even human anymore (you would know this if you were a proper fan).

On a side note... Denis Law does not exist and He never did ok?? OK?? Agree with my opinion or you need your head checked ;)

Phew, I'm an AC Milan fan ;)

But I've always followed United since I was a kid haha, hopefully get a pass on that one!

DOWN WITH ROBERTO MANCINI, FORMER MANAGER OF CITY AND CURRENT MANAGER OF INTER, THE TWO BIGGEST EVILS!

Mine too.
I was with you all through the 80's, having the **** ripped out of me because I wasn't a Liverpool fan (Dublin was full of them). I donned my first United kit in the 70's (best Birthday gift ever) and didn't look back, no matter how bad it got.

We just need to remember that it all turned around in the end (6)

Mate that was almost exactly my experience! I really cant take another 6 years ... let alone 26!!!

I dont know whether anyone said they don't want Pellegrini because he has managed City but all I know is there are many who don't want him because he is not that good manager. He is okayish manager who won **** all before managing City and we are not even talking about manager who is just starting his career, we are talking about someone who is about to retire in few years.

There are plenty of young managers who needs a stage to showcase their talent but some United fans want close to washed up manager.

He is an absolute Gentleman, I don't think anyone has a bad word to say about him but he isn't good enough if we are looking for someone to take us back to the top.

They did, so I just ran with the ball for the craic.

I'm not discounting Pellegrini because of the job he done at City, more because it would send out the total wrong messages coming straight from a direct rival

This was my original post that caused some panties to bunch up.
I was comparing LVG with Pell and toying around with the idea in my head that I'd rather him managing United than LVG. You know those random thoughts people have from time to time when they are relaxing on some web forums.

LVG: 2014 to present day - Zero silverware, a win percentage of 50.63% and the personality of a washed up aul ***** trying to stare down young lads outside the chipper on a saturday night.

Manuel Pellegrini: 2013 to Present day - 1 PL Title + 1 League cup, a win percentage of 63.9%, known to be a great man manager, respectful, focused, genteel and reliable. With a great knowledge of football.

Is it just me who would welcome him down the road?

There were lot's of Leeds fans too, but we stopped getting stick off them in the end and they all kinda dried up.
Were you from Dublin yourself MANUMAD?

Just watching some smashing Manchester United goals from the ex Manchester City player Denis Law.
He was a great signing.

The post your quoted makes lot of sense. It's a complete PR disaster and that too for a manager who is not worth it. City moving forward by signing the best manager in the world and United picking up their cast off.

Ultimate PR disaster if ever there was one.

You could have just mentioned Matt Busby instead of all these dramas tbh.
