The Manchester United Thread

What a game, full of 3rd choice to 5th choice players and won the game against Arsenal.

Rashford made a great start to his career. 4 goals in 2 games. Schneiderlin is a beast. Rojo is very solid player and still can't understand some of the criticism he got.

Overall very happy with the result and it was great to see Van Gaal showing some emotion on the touch line.

Have you seen the RKO one its awesome

Also it's funny when media talk so much **** about our academy and few fans here lap it up. Shiny toys are of no use if young players are not given chances. In the last few weeks our youngsters got chances and made it count.

Hopefully Rashford will go on to have a very successful career.

The 'kids' have definitely made it count but come on, it's not like LvG had a choice. He's been forced into playing youth because of injuries.

He did it before the massive injury crisis. Instead of playing players out of position, for the most part he has trusted his young players.

Also that's not even the point, it's about all the **** written about ManUtd academy.

Lot more than that.

Also it's pathetic that fans abuse him so much for thin squad and crisis and at the same time not give him credit for giving platform for young players.

You have to read his interviews to see how he operates with his squad.

It's not that tho. Yes he deserves some praise but I fee we praise him too much

You act like he benches every single first team player for youth when what prompted it was injuries.

Before this season started, he said he wanted 2 players per position Right? His intention was obviously this, "if the first choice gets injured, the backup shall take over" but unfortunately, the 2nd choices have gotten injured themselves so it leaves him not choice but to dig deep into the academy.

We've given 14 debuts this season. Half before the injury crisis. Either way you cut it, that is staggering. Also if you think squad is small, you'll hate Jose.

I really wanted to say you win nothing with kids but it's such a danke meme now lol

Also, knowing Van Gaal, from the start he reorganized the youth team tactics so they all learn the same #philosophy the first team does. That's the reason they all the debutantes seem to fit into the first team so effortlessly. Would never happen under Mourinho, since doesn't give rats *** about youth teams in general.

That's pretty much my philosophy in football manager ironically. Every single player learning the same philosophy right down to youngest player.

And I feel a bit happier knowing that we have some young talent like Rashford lurking in the wings for Englands future

Considering the youth prospects we seem to have I really now have major reservations of getting Jose, I was never a huge fan of getting him only because our circumstances this season I thought it was the only inevitable option.

Joe Riley was really good on Thursday, what happened to him today, any idea? Not sure if he was on the bench.

Was a sub. We had Rojo back to play left back.

Ohh, interesting how he used Fosu-Mensah to replace him then. Having said that Fosu-Mensah has been regarded as one of our brightest youth prospects, when he came on today he didn't put a foot wrong apart from one sloppy pass. Would love to see more of him.

Also I agree with whoever it was who said about Varela being a Uruguayian version of Rafael. He was excellent today, had Sanchez in his pocket.

Sanchez was absolutely woeful so anyone would have "Sanchez in their pocket" with the kind of form he is in.
