The Manchester United Thread

Lloris is as good as De Gea, Eriksen is as good as Mata, Kane is better than Rooney/Rashford/whoever else plays up to, Lallana is miles better than Lingard....so yeah.

Um???

Lol. Lamela presumably?

Have to disagree on Lloris. There's only Neuer I'd put up there with De Gea and I have a hard time separating the two. He's the best 'keeper in England for me.

So what would your two combined XI for Spurs/United & Pool/United be?

The really obvious answer is that United both have funds and status Spurs can only dream of. And a stadium Spurs are only just about getting hold of. Spurs have a clear and obvious glass ceiling. Whether they can break through remains to be seen.

Poch is no fool, he'll see where Spurs end up, and what he has to work with next season. Levy is going to have to get his wallet out for Spurs to take it to the next level. Something he's not great at.

If we're considering the Rooney for majority of this season Kane is better, but if we're considering the Rooney that turned up in January which is more like the real Rooney we expect then he is better than Kane.

Still the point stands, United team is better. If you had a gun to your head and wanted one of De Gea or Lloris you'd have the former. Same goes with Mata or Eriksen, the former is more proven in the league and when he has a player with the movement to bring him in the game (hello Rashford) we actually see the real Mata. Problem for Mata is so often a striker like Rooney negates him.

If we compare Lamela we have to use our best wide player which is Young or the Depay of last few games which we expected him to be, not Lingard.

Any particular formation?

Intersting conversation with some of your lads Sunday where they were saying (on similar lines to this), player for player you'd probably take more of City's in a combined XI but Klopp has L'pool more organised and fighting more as a team already than City's collection of individuals most weeks.

I'd still take Lamela.

Neuer is light years ahead of the rest tbh. He's as good as a standard goalkeeper as any of the others, and he doubles as a sweeper. Nobody else is even close.

Lloris is consistently making world-class saves basically every week, I'd have a problem picking who is better, him and De Gea. The only difference is that one plays for big club and the other doesn't. Obviously you can't be world class until you play for a glorious elite club, even though goalkeeper is doing exactly the same **** whether he plays for United or QPR. ;)

De Gea

Darmain Smalling Aldieriweld (sp) Shaw

Schweinsteiger Herrera

Lamela Mata Martial

Kane

I'd replace Herrera with Dele Alli and Schweinsteiger with Schneiderlin.

Not Kane's biggest fan but he's better than Rooney if we count the majority of his form this season. I would say Rashford but that would be taking the **** after just two games, like what I'm seeing though, he brings players like Mata into the game with his movement.

Really? Lamela turns it on about as much as Depay does and Young is more consistent than both of them.

Young consistent, since when? He was close to being sold at one point he was that poor. He had a few good months under LVG, but has been hit and miss overall, and is he a much better player now than when Man U and Liverpool started chasing him at Villa? not for me.

and anyone picking Rashford over Kane OR Rooney based on one good Premier League game needs a slap.

Young has been one of our best players this season (when not injured) and last season. He has been great under LVG. Plus he has filled numerous positions effectively.

Youngs record for an AML at Man U is poor for a winger
goals - league 6,0,2,2,0
assists 7,3,1,5,2

even before LVG started moving him to wingback and full back, thats poor for an AML for me, nah i'll take Erikesson or Lamela in the slot

Eriksen doesn't play on the flank so you're cheating. ^^)

I'd take Depay over Lamela but that's me, I've never rated Lamela or really been impressed with him. Has he ever put in an outstanding performance for Tottenham? Unless I've lived in a cave I guess I missed it.

Hes started more games there than anywhere else.
