The Manchester United Thread

As we're building up to Thursday, we should all be hoping Chelsea go out to PSG tomorrow if we have aspirations on 4th. If they won the Champions League, the 4th spot the PL would be replaced by their spot as holders. (Doesn't apply to City if they won it. Only if a CL winner finishes outside the top 4 would the 4th spot then be lost/ taken by said CL winner.).

This doesn't apply as regards the Europa League. Just the Champions League. L'pool, United or Tottenham win the Europa, there'd be 5 English Champions League spots (Top 4 PL plus Europa League Winners) if the Europa winner finished outside the top 4. 4 if the EL winner finished in the top 4.

So basically, if you feel Utd have a shot at 4th, you DON'T want Chelsea to win the CL or else you'd lose that 4th qualification place.

Just so folk are aware in case of that scenario happening and an epic backlash of complaining.

Your assertion on the other three I'd agree with (although it's hard to argue either side deserved the victory at Utd earlier this year as both were equally *****. You had three shots on goal and scored them all. We couldn't score for ****. Everything in between doesn't bare talking about); but behave on last year's game at Utd. De Gea was in superman mode (not least from Sterling and Ballotelli), whilst again Jones, who should never of been dumped in, in such a game, let every shot at him in. That game could well of been 6/7- 3 with more composure and no De Gea.
You also need to thank Jonny Evans for threading all them through balls to sterling

Just making excuses really, Mata has only been good at certain moments this season, he like most of our players have had bad spells where he has virtually been invisible in games. In them kind of games it would of been nice to at least see Pereira a bit more off the bench and see what he can do.

Pereira was one of our brightest players on the pre-season tour and he at least deserves to have more of a look in than he has so far this season. As he is one of our brightest youth players.

Also this whole Januzaj comparison is annoying as ****, he had plenty of games to prove himself, especially under the Moyes era, Pereira hasn't.

Stop making out like Mata has been a world-beater this season, he has had a good spell with a few assists/goals recently (nothing less than I'd expect) like some other players and another decent spell before christmas.
No one is making Mata look world beater.

He's been our best player for the past month. He's had good and bad spells this season. Still one of the few players we have that can produce those individual moments that win us games even when he isn't performing.

Think about it. Against watford. Mata was limping before he scored that brilliant free kick that won us the match in the 2nd half. If Mata was subbed off for pereria, do you think we would've scored? Do you think we would've won that game?

And sometimes I feel you fans overrate pereria. He isn't as good as people paint him. I actually think januzaj is better from the much I've seen.

Again, a lot of talented people never make it in professional football. It doesn't matter how talented you are, you need to be able to take the chance when it comes. You need the right mentality and work ethic to improve. Especially if you're at the club where 43-year old assistant manager who starts to show gray hair, is in better shape than most of the players.

****, just look at Rashford. He has technical ability of a broom stick, muscle mass of a 12-year old, but he has 4 goals in 4 apps, compared to Januzaj having 5 goals in 50 apps.

Januzaj definitely has the talent, but he also quite evidently has attitude problems. All the praise from Moyes days must have gotten to his head, because it's no accident that he doesn't play for United, didn't play for Dortmund, and doesn't really play for Belgium either.

Pereira certainly looks good when he plays, but he's done nothing to earn starting spot over Mata, and rotation isn't necessary either, because Mata has no problem playing 50 games a season. So yeah. Mebbe Pereira gets his chance now after the red card.

We weren't lucky all the time...only time i'll admit we were lucky was the one at anfield this year...
.

Never stopped the moaning lot for 20 plus years. It's either luck, conspiracy, refs or FA that stopped them winning games and league titles.

I would spend my life savings to see them managed by Mourinho, so long as they leave me just enough money to buy the 5 kilos of popcorn I'd consume every matchday.

These kind of scenes would be norm then.

Mata has incredible fitness tho...can't remember the last time he got injured

People moaning about free gifts from the club? That's a new low, who is forcing the fans to wear it. You like it you wear it, you don't then give it to someone else. Its hilarious to see people moaning about it and pathetic few obvious ones are posting ***** about it.

P.s: out before someone comes up with their imaginary friend's stories.

That's no way to talk about all the United fans all over social media hanging their heads in embarrassment la.

But then never being a match going fan, albeit through circumstance, you wouldn't have any comprehension of what that means and what a hollow gesture that is when it comes to this game and football fans in general.

We've never lost 5 in a row to United. Interesting.

Van Gaal the history maker .... Or United finding out what European nights at Anfield are all about?

I'm as nervous as I am excited about this one and most everyone else both sides is.

Jesus it's like watching a married couple having a ***** fit in public. Be on Jeremy Kyle before long

At the end of the day, they'll be the ones with something tangible in their hands and you'll be the ones clutching onto a sense of a worn out sense of pride with nothing to show for it. Sounds familiar right?

Did we just get skitted by a Chelsea fan there with all your history of little?

That's .... yeah ..... that's something.

Lol at the history part. What history are we talking about? History where Liverpool were the reason for English teams getting banned in Europe or the way your Dalglish talked after Heysel disaster.

No need to go in to that lot mate :/

Go on and mention iy. Nothing will surpass the mass killing of hysel. Maybe you live in stone age but we live in a era where you can know about things even if we are nit physically present..

Who is stooping to low level, the fans who killed or a fan who is alking about it. It shows your mentality when you started blamig other set of fans for your mistake. Thats why always the victims is used not for the other disaster. Blamed chelsea fans all these years for heysel and now even united fans are involved.

Yeah go on and talk about heysel. Your dogleash was a pathetic human being which was rubber stamped he day he opeed his trap about heysel.

Just that we are on topic, imo site was much better before you registered. Now we all have to read your deluded posts every day. You are the blueprint of liverpool fan people make fun of on internet.

Mods, you do a great job of letting a lot of **** slide on here. But seriously, step in here. This **** is completely and utterly uncalled for and unacceptable. (And not for the first time. The last time you 'slapped his wrist' over something like this was over Munich.).

You gonna' allow this to be taken to these low life levels to garner a reaction before it all goes to **** and you have to act?

anyway rapidly moving on from the potential clusterfuck, Uefa must be rubbing their hands that the Europa League has such a glamour tie, well 2 really in spurs and Dortmund too. There is only really the Chelsea/PSG and Juve/Bayern ties that compare. Its taken a while but hopefully we are going to start seeing some glamour back in the old UEFA cup especially now the winners qualify for the UCL.

I remember back when Leeds was goodish, my first European game was Leeds vs Lokomotiv Moscow and Michael Bridges tore them to shreds (if memory serves correct 4-0 and bridges scored a brace, could be wrong may have been someone totally different) What was peoples first euro match throwing it out to non united fans too, nothing better to me tbh, no matter which euro competition. obviously you cannot beat hearing that UCL theme tune but I loved all my European matches both home and away!
