The Manchester United Thread

Obviously a translation issue then. To me and im guessing most people on this forum, they will know exactly what he meant. If you read the entire post, which is quotes from the Bayern president, its only talking about the style of football, and the problems LVG was causing within the club. Its impossible to not understand what he means. Unless you highlight 9 words from a sentence, invent a theory in your head, then react to that.

And if you head his history of posting then you can see he always questions Woodward and investment in the playing squad.

Still I don't understand why someone is arsed so much, he explained in his next post what he meant and the discussion about it is over but somehow you are trying so hard to prove or do something.

Invest is also another word for 'taking an interest'. As in, if the board took an interest in the style of football being played, and what the fans are watching every week (with obvious frustration and cries of ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK) then they should have acted. Like Bayerns did. So as I say, to 99% of people reading that post, you would know exactly what he meant. When you focus on one word, get the completely wrong end of the stick over what contaxt that word was being used, and reply banging on about something completely irrelevant to the post, then yeh it just looks stupid.

No. It doesn't look stupid. What looks stupid is you arguing about it.

Looking back and reading zzezzy's second post I understand now that he was talking about playing style, so that's done. I didn't even attack his post, i made a point and he clarified it. You are the only one getting your panties in a twist for such a simple post.

To make it clear, you read invest as taking an interest, which zzezzy might have meant and he made it clear. I read it was spending. So what's wrong. I read it was he was talking about spending and about playing style. Good that zzezy made it clear in the following post.

Thank god you didn't make the op.

You know what im not even gonna carry this on. Looks like you seen the word 'invest', remember some old posts with invest in them also and put 2 and 2 together and got 5. Just read a post for what it is and dont over think it. There was nothing whatsoever in that post that you or anyone else couldnt understand. Unless your looking for something to pick at.

You keep on guessing then. Looks like you are coming up with little theory in your head.

Like I said, that discussion was over with 2 posts and your ******** about someone else' post is taking few pages.

Lets move on guys, it really doesn't matter, I can see why Sunliv may of read it the wrong way but it's no matter as he understood what I meant when I clarified in second post.

But changing the subject rapidly, if Jose Mourinho comes in my biggest worry is that he will rely on Rooney as no.1 striker and we won't get a top class striker in. We all know Mourinho is a big Rooney admirer, but his time is really over as he is no longer the same player.

We're lucky if we get a few months of good form out of him in a season and that's just not good enough for a player who needs to contribute 20+ goals.

Mourinho is a lot of things but I don't think he's a miracle worker to get the best out of Rooney again, even though his ego might think he can, just like Falcao.

Thanks mate.

Re Rooney, whatever it is, Jose's team always had good strikers or signed good strikers.

He had Drogba at Chelsea (along with few flops too), at Inter he had Ibra and replaced him with Milito and Eto'o. At Madrid he had Higuain and Benzema. Then when was back at Chelsea he signed Costa.

IMO Rooney will be flogged if he doesn't play to the level Jose expects. I think when we upped our tempo Rooney looked better so who knows, maybe we will be surprised with Rooney.

Also if we sign Jose then expect lot of Mendes clients at United. Even now we sign lot of his players but it will go over the top one we sign Jose.

If we sign Jose, I will be very curious to see Herrera and how he plays in Jose's system. I think he will be a very good fit.

Mourinho was an admirer of him buy is he still an admirer of a 30+ Rooney who's on a rapid decline? Does he believe Rooney is in a decline of is it LVG's system making him look bad. All interesting questions.

Personally I'd get rid of Rooney if a decent offer came in. If we fail to qualify for the CL again, the new manager may not get the funding he would like. So a good chunk of money for Rooney, and his wages off the club could be a big factor. A new manager should concentrate on playing martial as a striker and getting goals from him consistently, and getting some kind of form from Memphis and building the team around those two.

If LVG does go, at least it won't be boring this summer.

Will be interesting summer with few are on the fringes. Jones fitness issue means he might be sold which is a big shame as he is a good CB who needs a good senior partner.

Carrick's contract might not be extended, Rooney to China (he was 100 plus million offer), Fellaini might all leave.

Will be interesting summer and I'm sure big money will be spent if we appoint Jose.

FA cup draw in 30 mins, feeling like we are already out of the cup.

If the current style of football is rightly narking you, I'd be more worried about being being just as bored shitless, but with better results, under Jose. Along with his complete disdain for young players.

For as much as I dislike Bayern, one thing they do get is the importance of their fans. From taking care of them financially to understanding that it's not just about results and people want to be entertained. That was the one thing that made me fall out of love with my club and had me jibbing games left right and centre under Rafa. The sterile, boring nature of his football. Yeah, it got results. But it was boring as f to sit through more often than not. His mentality is you start with a point, so the least you can do is end with one. Anything else is a bonus. As a fan, you want to be entertained. That was the whole point of football to begin with. A release at the end of the working week to forget daily life and lose yourself for an hour and a half. And why your match going fan has been utterly ****** off the last two years. Last year they wore it because you got the results and somehow scrapped into the Champions League places. But this season it's lurched from bad to absolutely abysmal.

Mourinho may well stabilise and get you results (still don't see your current group being anywhere near the quality to sustain that over a season at the very top without an overhaul); but it would still wear thin quick on the paying supporter coming off three years of **** if it still wasn't entertaining. And more often than not, he never has been.

Still not buying this Jose isnt entertaining stuff. Some of the stuff they played at Chelsea and Madrid was blistering. Inter was pragmatic only in the CL, because they had to be to win with that side. And the first half of new Chelsea was excellent, till they got hammered by Spurs, and he never quite recovered.

I wouldnt sell Rooney unless Jose has a good look at him first.

More importantly, we need more from the flanks and that will come from faster football.

Yeah, for that reason alone it would have made lot of sense to sign Jose now so that he could have got good chance to assess the squad.

Maybe there is a clause that's stops him joining PL team this season (which clubs usually put).

Also Jose's team were always among top 3 goal scorers in the league, so at least we will see some goals from the team. If we up our tempo then Rooney will score goals.

Jose himself didnt want to start at a New club mid season. Di Marzio is convinced his new club is us. We'll see.
Same report says he's been hunting for a midfielder and attacking midfielder.

Re the last point, I think we are missing great passer in the midfield. If you look back, all our wingers had a freedom of getting 1v1 against full back a lot because Scholes and Carrick pinged the diagonal balls to perfection. We lack that now.

We missed Bastain big time. Also missing him being allowed to do it as much as he would, restrained under LVG

At least if we believe reports he is on scouting mission which is a great news for United if it's true.

Yeah Di Marzio is very adamant that Jose will be ManUtd manager and he said it many times.

Yeah, it was great to see him back and changing the flow of the game. He played very restricted role before getting injured, like he didn't try any risky passes.

Can't wait to see him, Schneiderlin and Herrera playing for Jose. We have very good squad, all we need is a good manager who knows how to use them in best possible way and get their confidence back.

I'd add 3 quality players at MC, CB and someone who can play across the front 3, and then we would be in a very strong place under Jose. He operates a 23 man squad, and can use the extensive and blooded youth to plug any holes.
