The Manchester United Thread

Yeh I get that but even before TFM came in, McNair was still sat on the bench while he's playing Blind and even Carrick before him. The lad did well last year and even stepped up to full international and helped his team qualify for the Euro's with some brilliant displays. We dont know what goes on behind the scenes and in training but its a mystery to me why he's being overlooked. He's been on the bench from the start of the season. So when injuries start to happen, you would asume the lads on the bench are the next in line, but he's stayed there and had about 3 or 4 players from the youth team jump straight over him and even midfielders being played out of position rather than give him a go.

After last season, he needed to kick on. Whats the point of LVG keeping him to sit on the bench and play everyone he possibly can before him. There would have been quite a few Premiership teams that would have taken him on loan this season and played him regularly.

That awkward situation of injuries keeping him here, but not quite going through. Be interesting to see what happens next season. Buying a CB could well block him. That's the danger

Him not playing this season when he's had plenty of opportunity to doesnt look good. A new manager might come in and see him differently. I cant see Phil Jones sticking around much longer so maybe that will be a bit of a lifeline for McNair. I can see a new manager coming in and getting 2 new CB's. Im expecting Jones to be sold, if he can stay fit long enough to pass a fitness test at a new club, and any new manager not keeping Blind at CB so will need replacing.

Smalling and Rojo with 1 or 2 new top quality CB's. Hopefully McNair and TFM getting a game here and there. Blind to replace Carrick with another midfield addition coming in. A new striker and possibly somebody to play wide right.

Thats where the current staff, by which i mean **** etc, put his case forward. He'll live or die by their reports most likely.

That was my thought, but if the current staff are going to praise him to any potential new manager, does that mean LVG is just blatantly ignoring them now?

Potentially, but doesnt necessarily make him wrong to. I guess we will find out a lot when he leaves, good and bad.

So are we all set on Jose being the next manager then? If so what do people think his plans for the squad are and who will he have his eye on?

Going off recent history, he may well be looking at Stones for the defence. Maybe Varane if you go back to the Madrid connections. Also rumours of Ramos handing in a transfer request, unless I dreampt that. Laporte rumours arent going away either.

Id expect Jones to be sold because he's never fit which is a shame. Blind to be moved back to midfield aswell on a more permanent basis but also as cover for Shaw. So there should be room for one or two defensive additions.

In midfield it looks like Carrick is going to be released. So I think Blind would be his direct replacement. So a midfield of Blind, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger and Herrera. Im expecting Fellaini to be sold (maybe as part of a deal for Stones). So a space free for any potential new midfielder Jose wants to bring in. Which really should be a lond term replacement for Schweinsteiger.

As for the top end of the pitch, it will be interesting what Jose does with Mata. We know he's not got the pace to play out wide. Will he get to play in midfield or will Mata be sold in favour of the new midfielder Jose brings in? Do we sell Mata and play Rooney in the hole with Martial up top? Do we sell Rooney and play Mata in the hole?

I think the only things we can be sure of are Martial and Memphis being the focal point of the attack. Maybe with a massive signing to play from the right? If Jose can get anywhere near anything out of Memphis like he did with Hazard last year then we are laughing. Maybe he can get something out of Januzaj on the right or move Lingard up a few levels?

Its going to be an interesting summer. The defensive problems are pretty easy to work out but there are so many possibilities with the front end. Who goes? Who stays? What system will we work with?

Possibly a new GK as well, as it looks as if De Gea has a release clause that Madrid are happy to meet. Possibly try get Navas as part of the deal as agreed upon before?

Also this season he was injured for 2-3 months on International duty, Our first choice CBs played most of the games so his chances were very limited.

He got few mins where he looked very shaky. Hopefully he will get few chances along with Fosu Mensah next season.

Depends if Mourinho rates Navas or not. Might have been agree'd before but that was with LVG. Im still expecting a U-turn on Valdes if LVG goes and DDG goes. I'd definately take Navas though. He seems solid enough. The only thing that would **** me off with that deal is RM paying £30m for DDG then us probably having to pay about £10m for Navas. Maybe more if they know we're desperate. So in effect DDG would be going for £20m. We'd have to replace him regardless but just would feel like a kick in the bollocks letting him go to Madrid and having to buy Navas off them aswell.

We'll have Mingolet available for £10 million or so the summer .....

I'd add 3 quality players at MC, CB and someone who can play across the front 3, and then we would be in a very strong place under Jose. He operates a 23 man squad, and can use the extensive and blooded youth to plug any holes.

We still need a good fast creative wing player: Depay will become that, Lingard is, frankly, not Utd standard and is a squad player at best, and the less said about Young and, erm, Valencia the better.

Might be bit premature but Rashford is also good wide forward. He is very quick and very highly rated by our coaches and ever more highly by Scholes.

Only this season or last season he started playing as #9, before that he played in attacking 3 positions.

IMO we should sign Mahrez for RW slot, he is a beasty player and will only get better.
