The Manchester United Thread

If this tactical decision(s) he has made tonight doesn't ensure him being sacked at the end of the season, I don't know what will. Even if we win the FA Cup through some miracle he should still go. Under Fergie, if we were in the last 4 against Everton, West Ham and Watford, half of us would already be celebrating winning the cup. Different manager different times, sure, but still how can we go from that to this?

It's not even like it's a good Liverpool team either, frustratingly average yet we were even worse, that's the annoying thing.

LVG has to go but our board want to keep him forever it seems. No ambition for this season at least, they saw to that by sticking with him to this point.

I really don't care if a miracle happens and we get top 4 and win FA Cup, he simply has to go, for the good of the football of this club, I cannot endure another season of watching painful football.

All i wish is we dont lose players because of Van Gaal methods. Apparent few players are ****** off as they are told to play in the box assigned to them and if they break the rule they will be benched.

Typical Van Gaal. Thats how he worked all his life, so tough for him to change his methods.

Liverpool deserved to qualify. They were much better in the first leg and silly mistakes cost us big time.

Not sure why are we waiting so long to sack him. At least players will enjoy playing with freedom if played under any manager.

I have no ****** idea why he keeps playing Fellaini over Schneiderlin.

The frustrating thing about all this is that despite what some insist on telling is, we can play so much better. The inhibition is infuriating.

Dont worty mate, just few more games. Once we get proper manager we will see much better performance from same players.

We have very good squad but they are not playing to their potential because of Van Gaal methods.

Martial, Memphis, Smalling, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Shaw, Schweinsteiger, Darmian, Mata are all capable of better performance and excellent core to build team.

Then we have very talented players like Januzaj, Pereira, CBJ, Rashford, Fosu Mensah.

All we need is change of manager and players having a chance to express themselves.

Also for someone so astute, his inability to target players is really poor.

Whether it's Blanc or Mourinho, we'll pose a much bigger threat next season. Waste of a season though

I remember when we had a discussion on here that went like this..."we lack the players requires to play high tempo football"

I think it was scouseinthehouse that brought it up.

Now let's go back to the game yesterday, for large parts of the game, the tempo was absolutely fantastic. Just a shame we couldn't put away those chances that came our way.

If lvg got us playing that system more consistently, we wouldn't be in this situation...we probably would've still been in the UCL facing real madrid...then probably crash out which is no shame...

We've seen some games this season where we've played high tempo stuff like stoke at home, Chelsea away, Chelsea at home in the first half, Everton away and so on...problem is...he sets up the team differently every game combined with his pathetic substitutions.

With all this talk of a new manager, why not go for Marcelino or unal emery...I slightly prefer unal emery cos he promotes that brand of attacking football that we crave.

I think it was Schneiderlin who said it. When you see his game at Southampton and at United, it's easy to see how much restricted his game is.

For me, I don't have problem with the players we have targeted and signed. It's his inability to make them play at their normal level nevermind punching above their weight.

We need 2-3 first team players and we are set. We have very good team which is made to look far worse because of Van Gaal.

I agree. We are capable of playing high tempo game and there is no doubt about it. We have played high tempo but it was in very very few games. Van Gaal hate playing by taking risks. He said many times in his press conference. When we went all out attack he said it made his *** twitch, these kind of tactics will never work especially at a club which always scored more goals than any one or in top 2 or 3 goal scorers.

Oops...my bad...probably wasn't you then..

NP mate. I just don't concur that your current squad is strong at all. Smiles.

Yeah, I think IIRC it revolved around you guy's debating Mata and his lack of pace. Something along those lines.

Also going back to the Swansea game at old trafford, remember when he said he enjoyed the 1st half a lot more than the 2nd half?

The first half of that game ended 0-0, we were playing the same old side to side, boring possession football with no clear cut chances, very few players getting into the box. Martial was a ******* wing back ffs! He said he enjoyed that!

2nd half, martial moved up top with rooney and we took more risks and actual did something that resembled attacking. Of course we opened up at the back but that's what taking risks is all about. Then we went on to win 2-1. Van gaal said he didn't like this. Those comments just explained his mentality.

Alright I'll bite. To say not "strong at all" is just vaguely putting it. It's not strong enough...or rather not good enough to challenge for titles and the mentality is awful.

I meant targeting opposition tactically. We are capable, but we need a couple more up top, those who can finish under high tempo pressure, and can create under it.
