The Manchester United Thread

No one bought into it? A lot of fans bought into it initially when Woody was first confirmed as executive only to stop when they realized he is full of **** after the first season.

Full of *****? Lol.

Mourinho's appointment has accelerated #mufc scouting overhaul, with French scout David Friio set to be phased out http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football

Full of *****? Lol.

Woodward is so full of it, his **** has ****.

Moyes and Van Gaal were both promised high profile signings, only for Woodward to miss every major target, ending up with prospects, hasbeens, and people who simply wanted out anyway.

Dude even Gill missed out on top targets. Ronaldinho, robben, David silva to name a few.

Gill was never put in that position to constantly go all out for top players cos Fergie didn't need to have the best players to win titles

It wasnt that we missed out on them with Gill, we just wouldnt pay what was required. And im sure a few was only by a couple of million aswell, especially Ronaldinho.

Absolutely gutted for Williams injured on international duty in training. Needs an operation and could be out months. :(

Gill was never given 250 million to spend. Do you think Robben or Silva would prefer going to (at the time) upstart clubs, over United, if money was good enough?

Not really. City could've offered van persie more money but he chose united for example.

Let's look at this from a different angle. How many players did Gill get that weren't either prospects or want aways?

Can't think of any now can you?

That's offering the player directly more money and leaving the choice to the player. We never even got that far because we never offered the asking price. I think ronaldinho went for about £2m more than we offered. We simply refused to go any higher, and as a result missed out on quite a few players for the sake of a few extra million.

Which was what woodward did with pedro yet united fans slated him for nor adding 3 mill. Talk about double standards.

I think the difference was that he did not go around boasting about how he could break the world transfer record and helmed the biggest club in the world as well as pathetically leaking to the press that he is leaving a pre-season tour for 'important transfer business'. Also he leaked a proposed swap deal from Chelsea once where we offered Luiz/Mata for Rooney ...

Manchester United: Jose Mourinho adds Ricardo Formosinho to backroom team and targets move for Benfica scout

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho
is keen to sign Benfica's Brazilian scout Francisco Oliveira as he looks to enhance the Red Devils' scouting network in South America. The 63-year-old scout has been credited with spotting players like David Luiz, Luisao, Ramires and Talisca during his time with the Portuguese club. The former Chelsea manager is said to have also added Ricardo Formosinho to his backroom team making him Mourinho's first addition.

According to Portuguese publication A Bola, Oliveira's name was the first on Mourinho's list of potential recruitments following his appointment as United manager in May. The Premier League big guns are hoping t
o lure him from Benfica in order to be able torecruit the best young talent from the football- loving nation.

Oliveira has been residing in Brazil for the last 25 years and has previously worked with the Brazilian football federation and Fifa before joining Benfica as a scout. Mourinho is said to be keen to add him to his scouting roster owing to his expertise in South American football.

Mourinho has managed his fair share of Brazilian players during his time with Porto, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Chelsea and is keen to have an edge when it comes to spotting South American talent. The 20-time English champions are making amends to their coaching and scouting structure in the youth level following the appointment of Nicky **** as the director of the academy earlier in the year.

They have already begun making progress in the transfer market in terms of signing the best young players from across the globe with Republic of Ireland U16 international Lee O'Connor and United States U19 international Matthew Olasunde having already confirmed their moves. Tahith Chong has confirmed his imminent move, while Bordeaux's Adam Ounas has also been targeted.

Meanwhile, according to the Sun, Mourinho has already made his first signing as United manager after adding Formosinho to his backroom staff as technical scout. The Portuguese coach has worked with the Red Devils boss during his stint as manager of Porto and Real.

Formosinho is expected to join Rui Faria and Silvinho Louro and will be responsible for tactical scouting as well as identifying potential signings for the future.

Also to add to above post we have already signed for next season a young STR from FC Zurich a young Belguim CB who has been on trial.

Gill had nothing to do with the Ronaldinho **** up (cos it was a **** up as even SAF has indirectly acknowledged since). It was KENYON who tried to act clever and as a result had to see Ronie going to Barca instead.
