The Manchester United Thread

So did Ronaldo, for almost 3 seasons.

Mata could be sold and isnt a pace forward, but a playmaker, different role.

Januzaj has the same issues you throw at Depay, but is actually even further down the line.

Lingard is covering the right, and isnt a finisher.

Rashford is already the 2 centre forward.

Valencia doesnt play on the left, is a right back, and may get sold.

Ashley Young, is the only viable option, but he is 30 and wont get any better, whereas Depay can

Thing is with Depay, is he was a liability at times last season, how many times did he make a sloppy ball towards end of game and cost us a goal? Quite a few off the top of my head.

Still, I stand by what I said, if we can use him for leverage for Pogba then I would, having said that I'd use Mata as an alternative as well if they wanted him. We could dispense with one out of them two quite comfortably.

It's not really a matter of giving up, it's more considering the attitude and mentality of the player as to whether he is likely to reach his 'high ceiling'. In my opinion the answer for Depay has been a resounding no from all I've seen so far.

But my main reason why would not be against including him in a deal for Pogba is because we really don't need him now. He'll be behind Mkhi and Martial, will struggle to get regular games and will become unhappy quickly.

His attitude can be put down to a young kid who is earning **** loads of money and at one of the biggest clubs in the world. His mentallity can be put down to him being a kid, moving to a new country, a new club, new team mates. If any of us went into a new job with new people, a new way of working and so on, none of us are ourselves until we are settled in, make a few friends and get used to it.

Now he's had a year here, his mentallity should be getting pretty normal now. If he wants to stay at one of the biggest clubs in the world, and work under arguably the best manager in the game, this is the year he needs to change his attitude and work hard and improve. He needs at least this year to show how much he wants this and to get his head down.

If we should get rid of him because of Mkhi and Martial, should we also get rid of Januzaj? Lingard? You needs at least 2 starting quality players for each position and then the most promising kids to back them up. Memphis, Lingard and Januzaj all fall into either of those categories. You dont win things because you have a world class first 11. You win things because of the quality of your squad. Over christmas when you play every 2/3 days, if you can put your 2nd string out and be 100% confident that team, is good enough to beat a majority of the teams in the league your pretty much set.

Various players cost us various issues. That's football.

Or we simply use the massive amounts of cash to burn from adidas knowing full well we can recoup lots from marketing. It's easier to generate cash than it is to find players. Stupid logic to get rid of depay to save ourselves 15m or Mata to save ourselves 27m/28m

Yup. His carelessness with the ball has cost you CL football. I can't picture Mourinho playing with a wide forward so defensively irresponsible, unless it's CR7 who makes up for it by banging goals 50 every season.

Let's get this clear: the club are willing to break the world record to get Pogba. ******* about with player exchanges is not on their list. Players will get sold if they dont fit, not for their value.

You make it sound like we won't have any departures, some players are bound to leave anyway. I'd be shocked if some didn't, it's nice have a big squad but Mourinho usually doesn't work like that.

I am surprised how many fans have forgot this on here so quickly, people were slating him at the time.

Actually it was scoring less than 50 goals, and far too many draws because of defensive tactics that did. PLus most of the side not being anywhere near their best. Anyone putting it on one specific player is a fool.

No one has forgotten it. But only an idiot blames one player for a season that was consistently poor.

Mourinho runs a squad of 23. We are not much bigger than that in terms of quality and impact. They will be sold on whether they fit, not on their value.

Ugh, all you needed was one point. I can very well put it on Memphis who was losing the ball every time it came his way for entire first half of the season; in addition to making a number of mistakes that directly led to a goal.

Should he be sold? No, selling anyone after one season would be moronic. But he's definitely fighting for his United future this year.

yes, a point that could have been achieved in plenty of other games. Really not hard to grasp that.

29 years. It's over.Ryan Giggs has agreed a settlement package to leave MUFC

The vast majority of players didnt pitch up last season. Anyone putting another season like that ahead is playing for their futures, bar new players in their first year

From an outsiders standpoint, that's (kinda') relative it would appear to the Memphis accusation that he has a bad attitude and doesn't work hard enough/ dedicate himself enough to his craft.

It's become more and more apparent that Giggs was manoeuvring himself in a power play coup to be in a position to take over from Van Gaal. And as such I wouldn't believe most any of anything he was coming out with last year. Not least when he was slating a big money Van Gaal signing on his attitude and work ethic.

Does Memphis have problems in that area? Dunno'. Not a Utd fan and I aren't invested anywhere as much as someone who is to pass judgement. But I would be taking anything Giggs had to say on him with a pinch of salt.

For as great a player as he was, he's also turned into one of the most destructive behind the scenes issues at Utd who most certainly needed to go.

Legendary player, absolute shithouse of a man, I have zero trust in him.
