Odd that you think bailly has been *****...meanwhile I've been impressed with him considering his raw. Only downside is he sells himself too much but he's got really good pace to recover. I think he's got world class potential and who better to get the best out of him that mourinho? Especially when he's tutored young CBs like varane and zoumaGoing in for 50/50's isnt the be all and end all. When does Carrick ever go in for a 50/50. He doesnt even go for headers 90% of the time. He just reads the game and puts himself into the best position. Cant put conceding a goal down to Mata not going in for a 50/50. If we conceded a goal it was because something wasnt right elsewhere, and it should have been dealt with before he was even put in that position.
Put it this way, if Carrick had a pair of bollocks we would have never lost that FA Cup semi to Portsmouth. The ball was 3 yards out and all Carrick had to do was fly in and put the ball over the line. He **** it coz he doesnt like going in for a tackle and the ball was cleared.
Not sure on everyone elses opinion but from what ive seen of Bailly hes absolute *****. He did do better against Galatasary, and hes not had a lot of games to show much but from what ive seen so far hes done nothing to show me he deserves to be in the team over somebody like McNair. £30m? Seriously? Im not one to jump in straight away, otherwise Vidic and Evra would have been gone after that derby, but ive just not seen anything from Bailly that is either worth him being in the squad or worth £30m.
On a point, Marchisio would have been a better alternative option to Matuidi, but signing him would have been all but impossible
That's right. Also, I remember we've tried to sign Marchisio a few seasons back. Think it was back in the Fergie era.
I don't get the hate for Bailly at all, a few pre season games and apparently he is '*****'?

Isn't he out injured as well for a while on top of being impossible to sign and probably not wanting to leave juventus
If that's the case, Gabriel Paulista should do a worldie! What is it with aggressive defenders from other leagues? They all seem to be obsessed with diving in.Odd that you think bailly has been *****...meanwhile I've been impressed with him considering his raw. Haha, just seen the Moyesey interview in which he tells the press that they're after Januzaj and blondie Felli.
Something never changes. Still can't believe this guy has Manchester United on his CV.
Or that Ferguson still defends hand picking him.
Protecting his legacy with someone he knew would struggle? Because there's absolutely zero logical reason you can come up with to give someone who hadn't won a thing in over a ten year managerial career the Utd gig.
Tbf, from all indication, moyes was his last option behind guardiola, ancelotti and perhaps Jose himself (as he already made up his mind to return to chelsea)Or that Ferguson still defends hand picking him.

..... In all seriousness though whoever they got was always on a hiding to nothing, Moyes failed .....
Oh, absolutely. Which is another reason why Paisley is right up there with Ferguson as the best of all time IMHO. The hardest job in football management is following an absolute legend as Utd have discovered. Paisley not only reluctantly followed Shankly, he blew his trophy's out of the water. Rebuilding the side twice and doing all he did in a 9 year spell. So whomever followed Ferguson was on a hiding to nothing. And let's be honest it wasn't a great squad by any means for a Ferguson squad to be inheriting.
But to still stick to it that Moyes was the right appointment and he'd do it all again ..... Something doesn't sit right at all there to be kind.
its an interesting question though who should they have gone with instead I am struggling to think who was available at the time, and for the reasons you mentioned its probably why people avoided the job.
I'll put it out there to United fans now to have some interesting forum discussion
you can go back 3 years who do you go and get and why?
Same person I said then who was free. Mourinho
I remember there was speculation about him at the time (I think) did they ever speak to him Mike?
.... Charlton point blank blocked the move.
