Herrera should start for me. Been MOTM today.
Carrick made more of a case tbh. When he's in midfield, it's like he just knits the midfield up together whereas when he isn't there, the midfield looks all over the place. I need to see pogba play alongside both Carrick and schneiderlin. Herrera was good but I think we need to find the right balance for tougher games.

Well said. Michael Carrick: "Everyone has got to calm down a little bit in how they react to all the changes in the team.” #mufc

Carrick dissaproving of the leak!

Paddy McNair scored a brace to overturn QPR and put David Moyes' Sunderland into the next round, winning 1-2. Impossible is nothing.

For me it should be Pogba Herrera and Carrick atm. Herrera has been good when ever he's played and showed against City that he can play and do a great job against tough opponents. This is Schniederlin first good performance in a while needs to build on that for me in more cup/EL games.

1. What a goal and performance by Carrick. Been crying out for him to control a game from midfield and he couldn't have done any more to impress today.

2. Rooney is absolute *****. Hopefully mourinho has seen enough now.

3. Herrera should be starting games or at the very least one of the first options when making subs. But imagine what pogba could do if he had Carrick and schneiderlin behind him.

4. Ashley Young was brilliant. Excellent delivery on most of his crosses. Beautiful ball through for Rooney in the first half and if he had rashford pace it would probably have been a goal (or not with Rooney).

5. Dont want to be harsh on the lad but when rojo headed the ball in the build up to the penalty, why did TFM stand and watch the ball waiting for it to come to him? You always get told to go to the ball, not wait for it to come to you. If he goes forward to that ball and clears it there's no penalty. Hopefully he'll learn from that.

6. What was that keeper doing for the 3rd goal. The ball sat up nicely for him to just put his head on it and clear. Probably panicked when he realised it wasnt going into the box.

7. Said it since he signed. Romero can't kick a ball for ****.

I am not sure if I want Rashford to start ahead of Martial against Leicester or get subbed early in 2nd half to make an impact?

How many times has Phil Neville called Marcus Rashford "Michael Rashford"?

That's just cruel. Hasn't Jose suffered at the hands of Pep enough?

I wouldn't look too much into all of that mate, I bet there was so many little factors in all of those games (barring the Barcelona 5-0 Madrid) that could've led to us sitting here looking at a much more even head to head between the pair. Mourinho will beat Pep in the future, Pep will beat Mourinho again, they're two top managers. For example, Klopp's not necessarily going to lose the next final he's going to be in should he get to another one just because he's lost the last 5 or 6 in a row or whatever it is, as football fanatics we over analyse things, and I'm more than guilty of that myself.

Jose needs some big wins if he is to win the squad. This isn't 2008 and he doesn't have the invincibility armor anymore, these people have seen what happened at Chelsea

100%, and has enough quality to warrant a starting place in the centre of the park too in my opinion. Forget his age, he's been our best midfielder in recent years, and it's not as if he needs pace to perform that Pirlo type role.

"He doesn’t run around, yes, but that is because he knows where to stand in the first place. And that is what United need - a cunning and dependable presence in the centre of the park.
Andrea Pirlo did not enjoy his very best years until his mid-30s, and Carrick has the same intelligence to be able to exploit that experience and, arguably, make himself even more effective than he was in his younger years."

I feel as if I wrote this article myself, but a decent read on how Carrick could solve the whole midfield problem at the moment;

Manchester United stalwart Michael Carrick could be the key to Jose Mourinho solving the Pogba problem | Daily Mail Online

It's all true, but Carrick can't play 3 games a week, and Jose has no one to rotate him with, unless he swallows his pride and brings Bastian back.

Also, to say Pirlo didn't reach his best until mid-30s is complete nonsense. He was just as good in his 20s except he could also run.

Pirlo was always a class act I agree, but I really do think he was more influential with age. It's like if you lose your eyesight, your sense of hearing enhances, and in this case, I think his ability to control & dictate games got better as his legs gradually went.
