The Manchester United Thread

I don't think they are the same type of player at all. Powell appears to play in the style of Rooney or early Scholes, operating as a forward or between the forwards and midfield as a classic #10, Pogba looks to be a more rounded midfielder.
I would still like pogba to stay would be class at united hope some of this stuff does help fergie sway him.

Maybe you're right but in the few games I have seen him he has not seemed an all round midfielder, rarely see him try and tackle, his long passing I have not seen too much either. But the point remains would we want him if he is not commited.

Quite a good read to be honest for United fans.

Anyone honestly think that we have >600million worldwide fans? 1 in 10 of the worlds population seems a bit high, i for one wasn't asked!

Not sure about figures, but I know we are the most popular club in the world and by some distance.

I personally am just worried that we might be getting left behind this transfer window, hope Fergie plans to improve the squad other than just getting Kagawa, who will be a great signing if it goes through.

The transfer window hasn't even officially opened yet and I doubt much will happen until the end of the Euros.

Left behind? its May....

I know it is May, does not mean we should not be looking already, getting the signings done early as possible is the best way, we need improvement in multiple positions, if we sign Kagawa I do not understand where Rooney fits in unless we play him as the lone striker, but he is no where near as good there. Unless Kagawa will just be an attacking MC in a 4-4-2.

Not really. He didn't even watch him play, just went by few youtube clips. He didn't add anything that many dont know. Just stating obvious.

Ignore the Kagawa bit, I was more referring to the players we now attract and are going for, has it taken a new direction, can we still attract the same players we used to be able to? Not so sure, we have missed out on a lot of good players over the last few seasons.

Been through this. many of our targets will likely playing euro football, therefore nothing will happen until after.

AS for Kagawa, we've been through this formation so many times. 4-2-3-1. And Rooney is excellent as a long striker. remember 09-10?

It can't be, Rooney is not a lone striker, he just does not seem to make it work up there, unless Kagawa plays on the left or right side of the three. I know our targets (mostly) will be going to the euro's but this could mean if they put in good performances there could be more interest from other clubs which could make us lose out on who we really want again.

Going by our history, we all signed players with potential and majority of our signings were always from GB.

Even in the past we missed out Shearer, Ronaldino, Robben, Essien before. It's nothing new, just that media and others are blowing it out of proportion. Our policy was always to sign young players who can achieve greater heights.
