The Manchester United Thread

Good goal but really I still see this as a massive 2 points dropped in the context of where we are. Depending on results we may well be 4 points off top 4 at least.

Great goal from Wazza! Not the best result but happy to have gained on Pool which non of us thought they would get beat today. To wasteful, but boy this team just doesn't give up!

Stoke have now taken 2 points from us this season, which is roughly 2 points more than they should've had. But that's football.

The story of our season, too many of 'those days' like this has cost us being closer to where we want to, and probably, should be.

It's hard as you can't complain too much, it's not like the Van Gaal disappointments; we've created opportunity after opportunity, Jose made positive early substitutes to enhance that, but after all of those wasted opportunities, even an open net from point blank range, it takes a free-kick like that to force the breakthrough in the 94th minute, *sigh*... but we'll take the point and keep on going and going.

Congrats again Rooney!

Points droppped but not massive points by any means. We will have still gained on 2 teams above us for sure this weekend. Do that most weekends we will be fine.

My only major complaint today was Fellaini starting, in terms of Mourinho. Even if Carrick couldn't play I'd rather see someone, anyone there rather than him.

I'm getting text's from the Ev seriously believing they can now get 6th.

Mad how things change so quickly. Pre-Christmas they all were looking at a relegation fight!
To be fair I think you're the only person who thought that barring maybe ridiculously pessimistic blues XD

Apparently you don't know many Evertonian's.

If they aren't complaining about Everton and blaming everything on L'pool they aren't happy!

Today they're all bullish about catching Utd. Monday they'll be back to the worst case scenario.

Sad with the result but happy with the spirit. Mata and Ibra both missed a true ccc today.

This is why I'm glad I'm the only Everton fan on the estate (live in Newcastle). If I had to spend time in the pub with those types I'd go mad. People think I'm pessimistic which makes me laugh. I'm just realistic and keeping a level head. Yeah we can beat Man City. Yeah we can beat Man Utd on the rare occassion. But does that mean we deserve to be top 6? Absolutely not if you look at our form half the time.

Most of the time when you watch them play big clubs compared to "smaller" clubs (and that's no disrespect meant towards clubs like Bournemouth, Hull etc btw-they're in the Prem for a reason) you can see that if we were to finish Top 5 or 6 our Euro trek would be over in a heart beat, because our form is so patchy. There's been times when the "smaller" clubs have completely outclassed us on the pitch and we've nabbed an undeserved draw or win but many of the fans don't see it because rose tinted glasses etc.

They also must understand Koeman is still forming a team, which by next season should be complete. The transfer window is still open and anything can happen. We have only lost 1 in 6 recently, but look at results beforehand. Those Everton fans should not be getting pessimistic because unreal goals are not being met. They should be waiting to see what happens in the near future, then set expectations when we have a solid team foundation ready for next season. Personally I'll be happy to finish 7th the way this season has gone.

But what I look forward to more than anything is seeing more from our young talent like we did against City. If that doesn't strike a positive chord with fans they're a lost cause tbh. We have got some REAL good talent coming through. We need to make sure we nurture it properly and most importantly not cash in on it. We've made that mistake before.

Imperative Everton hold onto 7th though which will more than likely be a Europa slot. Just for the carrot in attracting players the summer if nothing else.

Pretty much. As long as we spend wisely in the right areas, finish 7th, and don't do any rash transfer dealings, keep our key players and talent, I have a feeling next season should-SHOULD-be better than this one.

And I also hope for the love of god if one of our youngsters has a bad time we don't dare heap pressure on him like we normally do. We want a player to develop-not get his potential crushed by negative fans.

I would be frustrated too tbh, our best player against boro, our best player against pool and gets dropped for worse players in lingard and mata. Its not rotation, no way its rotation, if that was true, pogba, ibra and so many others from our starting lineup would be rested. Its an actual agenda against our best youth talent (excluding pogba since he's 23). How pathetic is that? Just because he rejected you at chelsea, doesn't mean you gotta lash out on him at united. Same with shaw, both rejected him at chelsea and he doesn't play both. This agenda by mourinho started in the summer, giving our best player last season, our most promising talent and a player who literally carried us attacking wise (17 goals in a lvg team) the #11 shirt, absolutely disrespecting him by taking the #9 off him. Also, he gave the number to a player who would only be here for 2 years max and would no way have an impact on our future. Not mourinho out yet, but the manager isn't above criticism.
