The Manchester United Thread

Thanks for linking that site. I'll be having a good read of that in the morning.

Having had a quick look through, i noticed one line saying that very few people can coach Juego de Posicion. So im guessing its very complex. Would anybody be able to create a tactic in football manager around this philosophy or is the current ME nowhere near advanced enough?
Not impossible. You can mimmick it in possession to an extent but there are many complexities that are lightyears ahead of the current ME. I'd say that the current ME I'd say is pretty good. Big improvement on last year. Biggest being efficient use of the half-spaces.

Watch Serie A? Napoli play the best football in Europe. Allegri has taken Conte's Juve up a level. Plenty of young coaches out there.
Okay, I can see you know your stuff.

Random question, I know there was a performance we had under LVG that you praised 3 years ago...it was the anfield performance with mata's bicycle kick winner. Was it the structural performance that impressed you the most?

Allegri has done absolutely nothing, he's reaping conte's work. Look at his record before juventus, so so bad. His win percantage was below 45%, absolute shambolic. Luis enrique is another one of those managers, being carried by the players. In truth, his record before barca proves that he's a horrific manager in all aspects especially tactic wise.

The new manager will have a great player! The biggest mistake United made was missing out on Sampaoli. Mourinho won't last another whole season imo though it's amazing what individual quality can do. Individual quality won Zidane the Champions League. RM play like a 2001 premier league team.
Can't wait to see Griezmann under Mourinho for years to come (6)

Antoine Griezmann is expected to leave Atlético Madrid next summer for Manchester United. Reportedly , the French forward agreed terms on a future contract with Manchester United. The 25-year-old should receive the same annual salary as Paul Pogba for the Red Devils, or 17.7 million.

Even if United has an agreement in principle with the French international (39 caps, 14 goals), the English club still has to agree a fee with Atlético. Under contract until 2021, Griezmann has a release clause of 100 million euros. Atlético will not give its best player for less, club Jose Mourinhoshould pay the full amount of this clause. Manchester thing done . The top scorer of the last European Championship should become the 2nd most expensive player in football history, just behind ... Paul Pogba and his transfer to € 120 million (bonus included).

"If you ask me if I know already that I want, then yes, I know," said recently José Mourinho in the press conference about the upcoming transfer window. This had reinforced the rumours of transferring "Grizou" to Old Trafford. The Portuguese can be satisfied, it seems that his leaders are ready to offer him the player he wants.

The native of Macon will not be lost to MU since he will find his friend Pogba . Moreover, it should also recover the legendary number 7 Red Devils left free by Memphis Depay party in Lyon.

Don't remember. This is a good example. Van Gaal was great in the first phase. Van Gaal's problem was his inability to offer anything in the way of coaching beyond the first phase. As a result, he deserved the sack.

I think you're harsh on Allegri. He improved upon Conte but I wouldn't say he's with the top 5 tactician in the world. You're right about Enrique though. Not close to good enough for Barcelona. Real Madrid are on a different level squad wise. There are players in the top 6 English sides who would now start for Barcelona.

Why it's not our tactics it's our finishing and keepers having blinders against us. And dodgy refs that's costing us. Nothing more. Dont over complicate things ;)

A mixture of all of them to an extent though I've read somewhere that United's goalefficiency is about average. By coincidence, the same thing happens with Arsenal every single year. I had a look at expected goals after the Hull match and United's only big chance was Mata's. Yes, United were unlucky but you failed to create anything of substantial quality. Mourinho would use excuses but the reality is that he's a big problem. I'd honestly be horrified from a United perspective if you lost Martial.

One of the biggest problems United have had is the managerial churn, and dealing with 4 very different tactical systems since 2013. That has to stop. For the most part of the season Uniteds movement has been excellent, certainly playing better football than anything since Ferguson. Currently being hurt by a lack of finishing and moments of pace. Each time United drop the pace, they struggle, and the opening passes. They are getting there but work to be done

Your forgetting Pogbas big chance at the keeper. And Rashfords big chance after Pogba played a ball over the top, just needed more composure. Plus Zlatan good chance on the swivel were he should of hit target.

If Griezmann is done like being reported. Then will be interesting to see if Mourinho goes back to a 4231. That Malachians guy said yesterday that Weigl is Mourinho second target after Griezmann.

I don't think he's made Juve any better to be honest. Conte got a good thing going with them and Allegri has just kept it up

I don't understand when any 'agent/ journalist/ twitter rumour merchant' puts anything out there that a player under contract to a club has been 'talking to/ agreed/ agreed in principle' terms with another club.

Surely that's the very definition of tapping someone up?
