The Manchester United Thread

It's just Jose, he's like a grumpy grandad, he's never going to be to complimentary towards congested fixture lists, he's also never going to take any degree of risks in an away leg European game. If we're beat at the weekend it's not because we had what was almost a training match yesterday evening (which was extremely surprising, I think every man and his dog expected them to throw the kitchen sink at us) but it'd be because we're beat on the day.

Well he's part of the best squad in the league apparently (not even gonna' say it kitchen my good man. Value my goodies too much), so it may not be the best place to ask.

Im talking from 2008 to 2011, I mean he was a different player then and also United were a very different animal

dont worry scouse you free to say what you like mate every thing is save i dont know about the best but he had to be up there

The problem is Jose crying about fixture congestion then playing most of his best 11 in a game where we are 3-0 up and just days before a cup final. I really don't see the need or point of it.

Far be it from me to defend him, but has he been out right marking on the amount of games? Genuinely don't know as you couldn't pay me to listen to him but it was referenced in one of your games I was watching recently that he was more bemoaning the extra fixtures but happy he had them as it meant he was still going for silverware.

Regardless though it was ridiculously risky to take that unnecessary risk in a completely dead tie. And for all he keeps saying Ibrahimovic needs a rest, he continually plays him most every game. Are you THAT reliant on a 35 year old?

Thats one of the biggest things that ****** me off at the start of the season when Jose kept bringing up Carrick's age and saying he's too old to play a run of games, yet plays Ibrahimovic for 90 minutes practically every game regardless of opposition. Zlatan's fitness is phenominal for his age but Carrick hardly runs around like a headless chicken for 90 minutes. He probably runs just as much in games now as he did when he was 28.

thats the thing i dont get too like you say its not like carrick is running his *** off he never has and he never will its not his way so why is it 1 rule for 1 and 1 rule for another

Rooney, for me, was the most complete forward in the world for quite a long time; strength, power, pace, lethal finisher, weight of pass, work rate, ability to produce big moments in big games, passion, etc etc.

He was in the conversation, but it depends on what metrics you use. I'd say he was the most complete, but if we're basing it on out & out goalscoring, Torres was frightening between 2008 & 2011.

Just for you mate ..... Cantona felt the wrath of Utd fans last when he named McAllister as the best player he's ever played alongside at some gig he was speaking at. Didn't go down well at all.

Quite the accolade considering he had Zidane his early days and the likes of Scholes and Giggs. But then having seen Gary Mac up close we know just what a fabulous footballer he was. And an even better fella'.

Regardless, figured you'd like that from a Leeds perspective.

There's your answer. Certainly in Europe. Villa's goal output was phenomenal but Torres had the complete game. And I honestly thought Rafa had waisted more money when he signed him. Got that one COMPLETELY wrong. Those first 2 or 3 years before he turned into a complete narky **** of a disgrace on the field with no effort or enthusiasm that last season he was phenomenal. The complete modern day centre forward. Two footed with every finish in the book. Rapid pace. Power. Technically great. Great in the air. Strong as an ox. Intelligence. Lad had it all.

Rafa made me look silly there. Never did understand why he never utilised Crouch (another very underrated player because of his comic like frame for a footballer) alongside him though. Always seemed the perfect partnership to me but it was either one or the other. Gerrard was the only one ever really utilised alongside/ playing off him. Which worked superbly like but still. Seemed a real waste of resources.

You could well make the case that outside of Greaves England have never had a better #9. But then people would argue back that he hardly ever turned up in International tournaments so what do I know? Shrugs.

Cant really blame him for that. He was injured before practically every tournament and rushed back, then got injured again in the tournaments themselves.

Meh, none of them turn up. If that was the case, then the likes of Lampard, Gerrard etc would be diminished too. Harry Kane a living and playing example, tears **** up most weeks in the PL, don't think I've seen him play a game worth noting in an England shirt.

England aren't a major force, if they don't win anything with the a possible 4-3-3 of Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, Cole(?) & Rooney from midfield up, then they sure as **** won't with this crop. But that's a debate for a more suitable time.

Carrick gets rested more because he's had calf problems most of his career even from a young age. Scholes even mentioned it on BT Sports last night. Carrick for the last few years has to train different and with special strapping on his calfs.

Griezmann brother and family were at the Utd game last night apparently and Petite has said people close to him thinks he will join in the Summer.

did not know that thanks for the info mate allways thought it was down to his age but with the new info makes sence

Same here. When Jose was going on at the start of the season he never once said he cant play every game because he has an ongoing problem with his calf's. All he ever talked about was his age.

Yeah that's true Mourinho did say that. Don't know why not mention he has problems. I remember reading about it a few years back, and Scholes mentioned it again last night. On a sad note. Poor Joe Riley has dislocated his shoulder out on loan after making his debut :(

Hopefully he didn't embarrass himself like Pogba's family. Half and half frigging SHIRTS? SERIOUSLY? Do people not think about the consequences of being ripped to F as an absolute laughing stock all over when they leave the house?

Talking of, just how bad was the older brother these two games? The quality in these two clearly SOLEY went one way. And he managed to **** a load of Saint-Etienne fans off with his antics with his brother when he came off the first leg which just compounds his poor showing.
